Spent 4 nights here with my family including 2 children, 11 and 6 yrs, at the end of July. We would return.
No complaints at all, clean, safe, well presented and maintained, good pitch, EHU, toilets/showers always available and regularly cleaned (I am picky about this).
Playground kept my children entertained as did the stream in the grounds.
Friendly site and the surrounding area is nice, had some lovely walks and meals at local pubs.

This was our first visit to cote gyhll and we will definitely be returning.
A lovely spacious site set out on a number of terraces. Showers and loos were very clean as were pot washing sinks.
Pitches were of various sizes and seemed to be able to accommodate larger tents if needed.
Overall a lovely site in a lovely setting, especially the stream that runs through the middle of the camp site.
Pitches are very stony though, so would definitely recommend rock pegs. There is a small on site shop that has a small selection of essentials.

This is the best site by far in the North East area. Easy access off A19, negotiating the caravan through the village is a bit hairy, just take your time, locals are tolerant and courteous will squeeze in to let you past, just give a friendly wave to say 'thanks'.
Site access is good plenty of space at reception to park up and check in. Shop is well stocked for basics, no newspapers but local shop in village sells wide selection. Staff are a huge assett, warden and his wife ( Malcolm and Carol) keep everything clean and tidy, grounds are immaculate, beautiful flower displays and hanging baskets. Toilet blocks are spotlessly clean even during busy weekends. Entry to toilet /shower is coded. Warden patrols site at night to make sure no noise after 10pm.
We always have a pitch up near the statics (area is called the village) they seem to put caravans with adults only up there, no tents. Really peaceful and gets the sun all day !
The area is perfect if you are into walking/hiking cleveland way is close by. They sell maps at reception for local walks £2. On a sunny day take a picnic and sit up by the reservoir, idyllic. Be aware if you have dogs there is a sign at bottom left
Of reservoir stating there could be blue/green algae blooms in the area ( highly toxic ) we checked out the complete perimeter as our dog lives in water and we couldn't see any during our stay, but something to bear in mind.
The 3 pubs in the village are all dog friendly, the locals seem to really appreciate the custom the tourists bring to the area, we have met some super characters.
The village hall next to the public toilets has a mobile post office which I think comes twice a week (weds and fri) village hall shows some films now and again, schedule of films is in local shop.
There is a regular bus service to Northallerton ( nearest large town ) and also to Stokesley ( pretty market town )Northallerton is about 7 miles away and has every facility you could need including a leisure center.
Asda is on the main road into Northallerton, Sainsburys is on the outskirts and a large Tescos is in the center just behind the main street follow signs to the rail station and you will see it on the right, you get 2 hours free parking so is ideal to park here and shop on main street.
On the main st is a Morrisons and Marks and Spencers food. Try to buy your meat from the local butchers and fruit/veg from the green grocers would rather give them trade then the big supermarkets.
The site owners also run a youth hostel this is completely separate to the site, they have large partys of children on outdoor pursuit holidays however you hardly know they are there, no noise, you occasionally see them in the woods hiking and building wigwams and kayaking on the reservoir, I think they are exhausted by the time they get back and just fall asleep !
If you want a full cooked breakfast and don't have the facilities or provisions you can get a fabulous one at the youth hostel.
If you want explore the area by car Helmsley is a must see also Sutton Bank to watch the gliders. So many amazing houses/gardens to see in the area just ask at reception for ideas.
Overall this is a brilliant site with 5star facilities, give it a try highly recommended

We have just returned from long bank holiday weekend here and this was our first visit. We live locally so new the area very well, so had no bother getting about.
The site was just as describe and the kids loved the park areas, unfortunately because of the rain the river was quite big so unable to plodge.
The site was very safe so allowed my 2 children to wonder freely.
My only 2 issues was the shower blocks were quite cold because of the weather, so we went swimming in local pool several times and showered here. Also we were on top field and were bumper to bumper with other cars and tents, we returned after a day out and had no-where to park car. More space up here like the other fields would of been nice.
But all-in-all nice place and would return. Hopefully with nicer weather.

We have just got back from a 3 day weekend at Cote Ghyll and must say we were very impressed. We found it on this site and booked at short notice. It was very easy to find well signposted from the A19. First impressions were very good the site is in a beautiful setting in a valley, divided into several fields with a stream running through the middle. There is a small shop at reception selling essentials. Entry to the site is controlled by a code operated barrier which is locked after 11pm until 7am. There are two toilet and shower blocks also with keypad controlled entry these were very bright and airy and also spotless and although the site was full we never had to wait, the larger block housed the laundry and had a disabled shower room and a bathroom(£1 for 15 mins hot water). The site has two children's play area separated by the stream but connected by a bridge one for younger children and one for older kids.
The site is a steady 10 minute walk from the village of Osmotherley where there's a small village store and two very nice pubs.
All in all a great site would we go back definitely. The only negative and its a small one was the wifi was a bit temperamental.

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at Cote Ghyll. The first time we were alone (2 adults) and the 2nd time we had our daughter with us (6 years old)
Both times were fantastic, great site, very well laid out and the pitches are now astro turf which made a huge difference to the tent! We had quite bad weather on the day we arrived but the astro turf pitch was a godsend. There was real grass around it. It was about a 6x6 patch of turf which was great as it meant we were not putting the tent on the rather muddy grass (weather was awful the day we arrived.
The entrance to the park is a coded barrier as are the toilet blocks. Very clean facilities and the shower was nice and hot.
There are two playgrounds for the kids and my daughter loved them - we hardly saw her all weekend. We asked to be pitched near to the playground for her and we were pitched across from it and could see her from the tent which was nice.
The site itself is in a little village called Osmotherly which has a shop and a few pubs. I believe the area is very popular with walkers.
The nearest town is Northallerton which has a fantastic sandwich shop called FATSO'S I would definitely recommend it.
The tesco in Northallerton allows 2 hours free parking if you want to park there and go down the highstreet. There is a market on the main high street on the saturday. Worth a visit
It cost us £27. 50 a night - 2 adults & 1 child with electric hook up. I thought it was a little pricey but most decent sites are now in this price range so cant really complain. To be honest I'd rather pay a little extra for a good site anyway
I will definitely return to Cote Gyhll

This is the 3rd time we have stayed here and have never been disappointed. We stayed for 2 nights and always find the site immaculate, with clean toilet blocks and friendly wardens. We wandered in to Osmotherley for a drink on the Saturday afternoon and had a couple of drinks in the Queen Catherine. We intended having a meal however the menu did not appear very appealing. We visited the local chippy instead and were pleased at our decision. The local shop 'The Top Shop' was handy and the staff were very accommodating. Another pleasant stay. We will definitely be back.

Just returned from a week at Cote Ghyll campsite and have to say the layout, facilities and staff are all excellent.
The weather was appalling so the heated shower, wash-up and laundry block was a God send, esp. With a drying cabinet for wet walking boots and coats!
The pitches are well spaced out, carefully maintained, both on the gravel and grass parts and the flowers/trees around the campsite are well tended.
The location is great for all places of interest in and around the N. Yorkshire Moors and coast. Plus Osmotherley is a lovely friendly little village and North Allerton is a great place to shop. We plan to return.

We've literally just got back from Cote Ghyll with our folding camper. We stayed for a long weekend as our first outing in the camper (upgraded from a tent).
This is a superb site. Very easy to find, friendly staff and a warm welcome. Entry barrier and showers/toilets are coded. Pitches are a decent size. The ground was a little soft since they had had a lot of rain in the week, but even with mud around we never once found the toilets or showers dirty. Loads of red hot water in the showers and the larger block has a bath which my wife was delighted to find!
There are laundry facilities and a drying cupboard, very handy when number two son went wading in the stream with his walking boots on! The shop is small but packed, our boys were in and out constantly buying sweets. The site is very child friendly and we had no qualms about letting our two play at the play areas and by the stream. In fact we didn't see the younger brother for most of Saturday!
The surrounding area is lovely. We walked up to Cod Beck reservoir and into Osmotherly. We ate in the Golden Lion on our last night and the food was wonderful, highly recommended. The village itself is great, I would have loved to see inside the church but it was locked up. However, don't miss the Lady Chapel which is a short (but mostly uphill) detour on the way back to the site. Seriously with a visit. Check the shop window in the village for directions.
To sum up, we had a great weekend here and we will definitely be back soon.

Stayed here five nights over the Easter, (been here before) and this site presses all the buttons. Good location just off the A19 but right in the country side. Site is very clean, showers spot on, children's park great, wardens friendly. Really good for just about everybody, , Walkers, dog owners. If you like a pint three pubs in village will all let dogs in and are very friendly, we go to the queen Catherine (football on and free internet) Also there's a very old church in the village well worth a look (ask in the shop where) So really if you do your homework this site is really good, bit expensive at £25 a night but that's the way they're all going. Would and will certainly go back
