Just returned from excellent week of camping at Redshoot. Very friendly and helpful owners and staff. Pitch was perfect, level and drained well (survived flash flood).
Good shop, excellent toilet & shower block including a good sized family room. Underfloor heating was great after the wet weather.
Children loved the playarea and made lots of friends. Excellent location for cycle paths, pubs (next door & down the road), shops within 3 miles, country park & attractions within 15 min drive.
Spent 7 nights, wished we had booked more.

The site was busy throughout our stay which was to be expected in the school holidays, but we were able to book for a week in August six weeks before we went.
The site appeared to have three or four additional areas off the main field where the electric hook ups were available. Users were mainly in tents which did mean most people were reliant on shower and washing up facilities.
We never had to queue for a toilet and only briefly for a shower. There were 8 ladies showers and 6 mens. The water was always hot and free! The water pressure was a bit variable between the showers but adequate in all.
The cubicles were just about big enough for an adult to help a child without getting soaked. Despite the wet weather the showers remained pretty clean throughout- under floor heating helped to dry the cubicles quite quickly.
The basins seemed to get a quick wipe down two or three times a day as well as the main cleaning session. There were four sinks for washing up and so there were queues at peak times, but not a problem.
The drainage on the site was pretty good - there was a torrential downpour on one day as well as rain on every other day and only a few pitches seemed to get waterlogged, but even then they were back in use within a day or so (The rain was enough to flood the Bournemouth winter gardens completely and shut several roads!)
The shop was well stocked and open from 9am till 7pm. Small play area and games room seemed to be a good congregating point for children. Site crowded, so not much space for ball games etc.
Red Shoot Pub just off the site served a good evening meal and a range of locally brewed ale. Excellent base for walking and cycling. Would certainly use again.

My husband and I have just had 3 wonderful days at this site.
Arrived early afternoon, soon checked in and accompanied by a friendly member of staff to our pitch who pointed out all the essential features of the site.
The site has good access from the road through the car park of the pub and is predominately one good size field with several small areas shooting off at different points. The site is pretty level and grassy, although our pitch (number 7) was a little thread bare!
On site is a good well stocked shop selling all the essentials including wine and beer, a lovely shower block with free showers and hairdryer. There is also a laundry room (powder available by the scoop from the shop), wash up area and a children’s play area.
We could not get a very good TV signal so used our satellite, radio and mobile (O2) was fine.
The cost is quite expensive for a caravan site but it is high season so to be expected for the time of the year.
The pub is quite large and the food is pretty good and reasonable priced. We ate there for the three nights we were staying; however, there is another pub (High Corner Inn) about a 45 minute walk away which is worth a visit too.
From the site there are lots of trails where you will see ponies, cattle and donkeys roaming free and is a lovely site.
If you like a traditional pub, do try the Royal Oak at Fritham (about 15 minutes drive from the site); it’s very quaint. It doesn’t do hot food or sandwiches, but pork pies/quiches that sort of thing, but do take cash as they don’t do cards!
While out and about, the Arboretum Drives are beautiful and well worth a drive through.
All in all we had a great stay here, the atmosphere on the site was good and we would certainly return again to this site.

We have just returned from a fantastic stay at Red Shoot Campsite. We were a group of two trailer tents and one tent, seven adults, two children and two dogs. As the campsite was already mostly booked at the time we booked we were unable to be put on three consecutive pitches, however we were only separated by one pitch.
The campsite is very friendly and the staff were very helpful. There is a pub right on the door step as well as excellent paths for walking the dogs. It is located in the heart of the forest with plenty of activities to keep everybody amused. The new forest has a lot to offer and I would recommend this campsite to anybody looking for an adventure holiday, or a relaxing stay in a most beautiful setting.
I have only two negative points the first of these is the water pressure in the showers. If any more than 5 people were in the shower the pressure was lost and the water trickled down the back wall. Otherwise the showers worked well and were very warm, the heated floors are a nice touch.
The showers are powerful when less people are in them, and would benefit from a curtain to stop the splash into the clothes area. The only other slight negative was the closeness of the pitches, we occupied two pitches in a corner and had plenty of space, however other pitches looked a little crammed in.
All in all a fantastic site and we will certainly be returning.

We've just come back from a week stay at this campsite.
Red Shoot couldn't be in a better position for people who want to explore all the New Forest has to offer. There are wonderful dog walks all around the campsite.
The pub that is right on the doorstep is very nice and we took part in the Thursday night pub quiz. Drink is reasonably priced and we were made to feel welcome.
In the site itself some of the pitches were rather muddy - not a problem for us in our trailer tents but I wouldn't have like to pitch a normal tent in the mud.
The toilets and showers were plentiful and kept really clean. The heated floor is lovely! Watch out if the showers are full though - the water pressure drops and the water dribbles down the wall making it impossible to shower!
Red Shoot is ideal for families - it's possible to hire a baby bath from the reception. The shop is well stocked and they can even order your Sunday paper in for you!
We will probably return to Red Shoot in the future.

If you have a large motorhome the roads are a tad narrow so be warned drive carefully.
The site is great and the staff helpful and friendly. Not all pitches are level and ours had a dip where the awning was to go. Apart from that we coped ok. Showers and toilets excellent with separate disabled toilet outside.
Shop with provisions but ringwood not far away, 15 minutes to supermarket. Red shoot pub excellent, the staff are welcoming and the food is great. The chef even did cream of pepper sauce for me that wasn't on the menu, sign of a good kitchen.
Play area for kids, plenty of circular walks, lovely countryside, a visit to sammy miller motorcycle museum, a trip to avon bay near christchurch, to weymouth, and a local ellingham countryside show with heavy horses etc. A trip to burley was disappointing.
We used our cycles and did a tour through the woods so you need mountain bikes, hard work it was. All in all would recommend this site.

Our first venture in the new tent, what a fantastic start. Beutiful countryside a warm welcome and a microbrewery just a shot crawl away.
The toilets and shower block were superb, exceptionally clean and heated floor tiles. A good on site shop and a Pub right beside the site not just any pub but a micro brewery producing some fine local ale.
Linwood is a very picturesque landscape in the New Forest and a short drive to Lyndhurst which has some nice eating places as well as a good outdoors shop, a museum of the New Forest and a nice walking route.

I was quite dismayed at the congestion on this camp-site. We went here because we had heard good things. Unfortunately, we were allocated a site in the middle of the camp-site. We had EIGHT tents around us. Claustrophobic, to put it mildly.
So while the site is in a lovely setting, nice staff etc. , I could not help but feel they were trying to eke out every last penny from the campers.
But, who am I to complain! The place is packed so they are doing something right.
Personally, I wont return. I camp because its nice to have a bit of space. There was none here.

Stayed here in late July and was our first trip as a family. Loved the site from the very helpful staff to the superbly clean toilet and shower block.
It's a nice flat site and there is plenty of room for tent and car. It seemed to be a nice family crowd and the site was pretty much silent after about 10:30pm.
The shop is good and stocks the basics at reasonable prices and they have a rental ice pack service. The location is very quiet and there are wild horses right outside the pub sometimes. My only regret is not going to the pub!
Will definitely consider going back next year.

Just returned from Red Shoot had a fantastic time weather not the good but did not stop us doing or going anywhere.
Site and showers and toilets very clean did not have to wait at any time for shower.
Really relaxed atmosphere to this camp loads of great walks all around. Wildlife in abundance loads of places of interest to visit. You feel really safe at this site our kids grown up and gone but this site is ideal for families.
Red Shoot pub really, really dog friendly staff fantastic and honest wife left bag with over £300 realised next day went back bag handed back straight away fully intact. Could not fault the Red Shoot and all the staff working there.
