Very nice site tucked away in the Forest, although the site itself is very open, not actually tucked away beneath the trees. Luckily we picked the best week of the summer, so the weather wasn't a problem for us, all seemed to have dried out very well. The site was extremely busy, but fully expected that in the middle of the school holidays, and I have to say it was very quiet and peaceful after 10.30, no noise problems whatsoever. The amenities were pretty good, nice toilet and shower block, water lovely and hot, but a bit reduced in power when all showers going at once! It wasn't the cleanest, but it was a very busy time of year and there were a lot of children, so to be expected really. Good dish washing facilities and the shop was very good, all the essentials and many non-essentials. The play-area did seem very small, so there was a lot of playing and chasing around the whole site, not a problem until someone keeps kicking a football at your car. The Forest is beautiful and there is plenty to do for all tastes, we managed a wildlife centre, National Trust house, Corfe Castle and the beach a few times. There are a lot of nice pubs in the area, and the walking is lovely. Would use this site again.

Found the site easy, arrived to rain and blowing a gale, so had a difficult time getting the tent up, but managed it!. Went into Ringwood which is 10-15 minutes away for a chip supper, Lovely but a bit pricey!. Woke the following morning to a strong smell of sewerage which we found to our dismay the manhole was next to the tent, we were told that the smell had been ongoing all the week but you got used to it! Campsite was full so couldnt get moved, anyhow it made us explore the surrounding areas and boy was it worth it. Whatever direction there was something to see, towns, villages, horses, cows and deer. This site was situated in a great area and not long to travel to anywhere, Bournemouth, Monkey World (Fab day) etc. Red shoot inn great huge meals, campsite excellent, best shop on a site I have visited, it had everything! Best shower/toilet facilites, friendly owners/campers. Must places to visit, Bolderwood for the Deer, Burley for the witches, Lyndhurst pretty village and great camping shop, Fordingbridge for great Pub meal, We even went to Southampton 19 miles to see the Queen Mary 2 leaving. Only fault was the smell from the manhole, do what we did lit smelly candles and a lot of air freshner. Will go back again as we missed so much.

What a lovely place to stay in the New Forest. Staff very pleasant and a good local knowledge. Washing up area great but remember a bowl you will need one, loo's showers great, laundrette clean the family room what a great a idea for the families with the smaller campers among us. Shop well stocked with all you will need and more, The pub was great only used once on last night very friendly. The only one bad thing is that they had a band on with bank holiday weekend, very loud. So many walks, wildlife to see and do you will never have enough time to do it all. Oh yes one more little thing take a peg for the odour of de cow not great with egg and bacon but will be returning next year and for many after we are hooked on Red Shoot.

This was our second visit to Red Shoot (the first being in March of last year). The site is nicely situated in the New Forest and has a real back-to-nature feel about it being surrounded by trees and fields. The site itself is for the most part level and pitches are generous. The staff are friendly and always willing to help should you have any problems. The toilet block has been refurbished and is terrific. A definite bonus is the Red Shoot Inn, which is a great place to spend the evening. Live bands twice a week, great food with very generous portions and it's own micro-brewery. What more could you want?

We have just returned from 5 days at Red Shoot in our 6 man tent. The facilities were lovely - great toilet/shower blocks, well stocked shop, friendly and helpful staff and our children loved the small play area but I have never been to such a crowded site. The pitches are barely large enough for a family sized tent and a car. In the bottom part of the site where we were, there was only about 1m between each car and tent because all the tents were at least 6 man. You would be fine with a 2 man tent or if you don't mind being so very close to you neighbours though! The Red Shoot Pub is lovely and the site is in a good position for visiting the New Forest but there is no way we would visit in the school holidays again.

We travelled to the New Forest last Tuesday for 4 nights with 7 campsites in mind, this one being the first one. We managed to get in on the condition that we stayed for 4 nights. The site was still a little bit wet from the rain the previous days had brought but the mud soon dried up with the lovely weather we have had. The pitch was a nice large pitch with good drainage, the shop well stocked with fresh bread rolls/baguettes and croissants daily as well as the usual everyday items for sale. The toilets/shower block were cleaned every few hours. I thought I might have to queue for a shower every morning but this wasn't so, and they were lovely and hot although the pressure suffered a little at peak times. The Red Shoot pub served decent enough food at a good price (Vegetarian Lasagne was £7.95), although drinks were a little pricey. Down the road (right out of the campsite) is a beautiful pub called the Alice Lisle which serves restaurant quality food but the prices were no dearer than the Red Shoot (£8 - £8.50 for a restaurant quality vegetarian meal). The drinks here are cheaper. Overall the campsite was very nice, very clean and the owners very friendly (they offer a mobile phone charging service for £1.10 and they kindly charged our Sat Nav for us.

Arrived in the pouring rain was booked into the paddock arera but found this far too wet underfoot so site owner kindly put us into the main site. New shower blocks are a home from home, plenty of cubicles and kept very clean. Shop stocks a wide variety of useful goods which may come in handy. Red Shoot pub has just been refurbished very cosy and inviting(be warned gets very busy at the weekends) Only minor gripe was the small play area but being in the centre of the new forest who needs a major one anyway. Definitly return there and i'd recommend it to anyone.

We arrived following a period of heavy rain to find as one would expect the ground to be very boggy! Never mind - we were shown to our pitch which was in the middle of the park and at the lowest level and therefore had a big puddle in it! We eventually persuaded the lady who showed us the pitch to allow us to put our unit side-ways on to avoid this mini-duck pond that was growing bigger as the field drained! Once we were settled in and had a look around - we found the facilities to be very good - large, clean toilet block. This was usually very clean until a group of young lads came back each evening from mountain biking and left the gents shower block floor covered in mud and sand! The shop was well-stocked - including wine and beer and the pub - 'The Red Shoot' at the entrance to the site, was excellent - lovely food and a great range of real ales. The local area has loads to do - we went west into Dorset one day and another day east into Portsmouth. The rest of the time was spent exploring the beautiful forest area. All in all - a great site - in a lovely area - we shall return someday!

This was our first attempt at camping. Well, after the deluge of rain we had it hasn't put us off and we will be doing it again very soon. So where do I begin, the site was very clean and the shower block was to die for, hot water whenever you wanted it and very very clean. The staff were friendly and helpful. But as far as I was concerned the best bit of the weekend was the Red Shoot pub just outside the camp gates, they brewed their own beer, and fine ale it was too, the food was good and the portions were ample and prices very reasonable. All in all a site I would visit again without hesitation

This has to be one of the best sites we have stayed at, lovely for families, with plenty of space for ball games and a lovely playground. Facilities very clean and well kept, a bit of a queue for the showers in the morning, so we tended to go in the evening. The owners were friendly and the shop was well stocked, the pub across the road brings a welcome break from cooking but is quite expensive, the menu is very varied but nothing special. Would visit again for the lovely atmosphere and surroundings and waking to the sound of cows mooing in the field next door!
