Stayed for a week in glorious sunshine. The site is in an excellent location for touring the area, we were cycling and most of the new forest was within reach from the site The showers, toilets and washing up facilities were kept very clean and there always seemed to be plenty of hot water even when the site got very busy on the weekend.
On site shop had most things you would need including fresh croissants and mini baguettes baked on site each morning. Should you need it there is a Tesco express a short bike ride away (5 mins by car). Red shoot inn served up some decent food and had a good selection of beers, we also liked the The Alice Lisle and the Royal Oak both a few minutes drive away.
If your touring on bike we would recommend 'The New Forest by Bike' leaflet available from the site shop (£3. 50). Some of the pitches in the top corner (around pitch 16) can be shaded from the early morning sun by a large tree.

We were very lucky with the weather and the sun shone for the 4 days we were at the site. We would have stayed longer but the pitch was booked. The site was very clean throughout, both the toilet blocks and the grounds and there were regular inspections to keep it that way.
The site was attractive with its many hanging baskets and was spacious enough for kids to play without annoying other guests. There were plenty of toilets and showers but I think that the water could have been a little warmer. My wife said that the water in the ladies block was ok, so maybe I'm just too fussy. The only other complaint that we had was being charged £6 per day for electricity which we think was a big rip-off.
The shop on site was useful but it only opened at 9 in the morning, a little late if one wanted milk or bread. We ate twice in the pub. The food was good but the wine rather expensive. Oh, just remembered another thing about the showers, you have to keep pressing the button every 12 seconds. A bit of a nuisance, a rather petty way of saving money considering the cost of the pitch. However, all in all, we were very happy there.

This was our 4th stay at the Red Shoot, but the first time during the busy school holidays.
Certainly wasn't disappointed - the site was full and yet all the facilities were still kept clean, the shop had most things you needed and we didn't feel crowded at all. The staff are still as friendly as ever!
There are some fantastic walks from the site - if you get bored of popping into the Red Shoot Pub, try walking down Toms Lane, around the corner and following the forest path for approx 30 mins to the High Corner Inn. It has similar food and drinks but has a much better and bigger garden with a good play area for the kids.
The site is in a fantastic location, well away from anywhere else and yet you can easily drive to any of the New Forest towns or the beach!
We'll definitely be going back again next year - favourite New Forest site.

A very warm and friendly welcome at this site after a difficult journey from Norfolk.
Wardens showed us to our pitch which was not far from the spotlessly clean toilet block.
We had a fantastic week in the new forest which was a perfect place to explore from (Poole / Weymouth/ Hired bikes from Burley/ Beaulieu National Motor Museum). The Red Shoot Inn at the top of the campsite serves good food and good beer with a very friendly atmosphere. Also about 1. 5 miles towards Ringwood there is the Alice Lisle pub which also serves good food and beer too.
Ringwood is only 3 miles away for supermarkets and shops and banks.
The New Forest Ponies are amazing and I was still amazed at them roaming free even after being there for 7 days.
All in all we had a fantastic weeks holiday at Red Shoot and I would definitely return without any hesitation.

The site is a large pleasant looking family site with adequate spacing between tents. The site shop is well stocked with the basics and is licensed to sell wine.
There are plenty of washing up facilities and the shower block is cleaned regularly, even in mid August with the site full we never had to wait for showers etc.
The pub next door is nice and the food OK. We went horse riding a Burley Manor and canoeing with New Forest Activities, see both their websites for details.
I would definitely stay there again, which is a good sign.

We nearly didn't stay here due to the price. What a mistake that would have been, it was excellent and well worth it - don't be put off by the price.
It has a fantastic location and there are some fabulous new forest walks from the site, the site is clean, facilities are very good, and the shop (vital as a few miles from other shops) sells all the stuff we needed.
The pub on site did good food and beer and let us bring our dogs in, which made us feel very welcome.
A truly lovely place to stay - we will very happily return.

We have visited this site twice in August. This site was recommended to us and we also read the UKCampsite.co.uk reviews. We have pitched on both electric and non-electric pitches. The Red Shoot Inn is a lovely dog/child friendly pub (we have both!) The site is very clean.
Our last visit on the Bank holiday weekend was slightly marred by 2 gentlemen from 2 families who were camping together, who, on returning from the pub were told by a fellow camper to quieten down. This led to the 2 gentlemen breaking out into a full blown brawl in front of their children with a lot of verbal abuse.
Most unexpected for this type of site.
The next day they were spoken to and were allowed to stay for the sake of their children.
Despite this we will visit again as the New Forest is a stunning area.

Lovely site, we stayed in Sept 2011 as well.
Both times weather was really bad and was unable to cook, so the pub at the top of the campsite was useful for food and keeping us warm until bedtime.
Both times we were in the bottom paddock and it was quiet, so don't know what it's like in the main field.
Playground was good, and handy to have a shop on site as well as there is nothing at all close by.
Toilets and showers always clean and never busy. There is a low basin for the younger children, but my daughter found it hard to turn on the tap!
Brilliant for the Forest as well as for Peppa Pig World!

It was our first time staying at this site, it was a good road to it except for the final part which if you follow satnav will send you down ivy lane, this is a single track road with no passing points, not suitable for wide/towed vehicles.
If you stay on the A31 ringwood road towards fordingbridge you will see the correct road signposted with the brown and white tourist information signs on the next right hand turn if coming from the dual carriageway.
Once on this road continue until the road goes around the right, go over a little bridge then turn left you will see further signs for the campsite from there. You can also go straight on and turn left at the end of the road, then over the a bridge this is slightly better as the bridge is level.
The site is well placed for the new forest and Bournemouth, it is also not too far to get the ferry to the isle of Wight.
The shop is well stocked, and has some camping supplies. You can also rent ice blocks, extension hook ups etc.
The only slight down point for us, was they only have one toilet block, during busy season it coped well but I feel the septic tank was getting a bit full as was very smelly.
This did not spoil our holiday though, and overall we enjoyed our stay. We would still recommended this site regardless, as it is a lovely site.

Stayed at the Red Shoot Campsite during a particularly wet week in July with the 'outlaws' and the wife.
Upon our arrival we were led to our pitch by a less than enthusiastic member of staff.
Location is perfect to visit the forest and I have to say the pub next door is fantastic for food and provided free WiFi.
I personally found the facilities to be more than adequate although my wife was a bit put out by the charge for the hairdryers.
Speaking with some campers who have visited before they did comment that it didn't seem as friendly as when they had previously stayed.
Given the rain the pitch was reasonably drained although a friendly camper did not like the fact that his pitch was the other side of the hedge from where the pub sewage ended up and felt it was a health hazard.
