Stopped here overnight on our way to pick up our daughter before moving on to Dorset.
Nice location for a reasonable site.
Reception was efficient if a little 'lack-lustre'.
The pitch was fair, although I noticed several Ants nests around the pitch which I was lucky enough to notice before pegging out the tent. It would have been a major problem if I hadn't noticed them!
There was a lot of noise from a nearby Farm.
The whole site is gently slopping.
Toilet/Shower Block was clean.
Shop was uninspiring.
The Site & Pub we found similar to the welcome. 'lack-lustre'.
Ideal for a short stay or a base for activities around the New Forest!
£24 per night for non-EHU. ???. Sorry, but not worth it for more than a stop-over!

Stayed for one night on this site as it was 'hobsons choice' in the rain. I was not impressed being charged £31.00 for a night with no electric. I was told this price was because my 14 year old son had to be charged as an adult, yet he was too old for the play area. I suppose I should have asked if they would serve him alcohol in the shop as he was an adult for the day.
In all fairness the site was clean and well run but I do feel the owners seem greedy. Farm next door was quite noisy too.

Spend 9 nights at this site in July, party comprised 2 x tents (4 x adults / 1 x 15 yrs). The weather was superb for the whole of our stay so a great holiday in all!
Site location is superb, 4 miles out of Ringwood and within the Forest boundary and next to a Pub (Red Shoot Inn); overall a very beautiful and tranquil position, especially if you are into walking / running / cycling. Also a good base for exploring further afield (Bournemouth etc).
Reception area looks like new; well presented with adjacent (well stocked) shop and children's play area opposite.
Quite friendly staff quickly booked us in and escorted us to our pitches.
We had EHU pitches on the small field behind the utility block next to a hedge (which divides from the rear field); our pitches were flat, of good size and in excellent condition. Perfectly adequate for our Monty 6 + extension + car + trailer + bikes!
It should be noted that the majority of the field areas are non-EHU and the pitching of tents etc is a little less regimented, nevertheless does not deter from what is a nice site. (a point of note is that a constant hum of a unit 'of some kind' behind the hedge could become occasionally annoying, and occasionally a smell could linger (of the drain type!) around this hedge position.
The utility block was close at hand, and all facilities (wash-up, showers toilets etc) were in top condition, extremely clean and I would rate as good as any we have experienced.
Generally clientèle were a good mix and a nice atmosphere prevailed, and nice and quiet come night-time.
Would recommend food + beer at the Red Shoot Inn; choice of speciality beers plus good menu at decent prices make this a must-do for any stay. Also live band on Sunday's.
Off-site we tried a 1hr Horse ride (£25/hr) at Bagnum Riding Centre, which was well organised and very enjoyable.
Tried a few cycle trails. This area really is cycling heaven!
Our 1st visit to the New Forest and loved it!.Would recommend Red Shoot as a camping base.

Fantastic location, right next to the pub with reasonable fare and excellent walks on the doorstep, but the density of pitches is the biggest gripe here.
I liked how the pitches were marked, with strict instructions to pitch your tent with the number of the pitch (positioned on the fence post or ground) in the middle of your tent – it’s a shame that not everyone listened so close to this instruction. But they are still pretty close together and there was no open space for the kiddies to play in. And while they did have a playground, it was rather small and not so great for the small kids. There was generally no field space for children, but then again there is lots of open space just outside the site.
The shower block was pretty good although the floors were super slippy and my daughter fell over and hurt herself pretty much everyday. They did also provide a family room – although the shower in there was bonkers and sprayed the whole room.
The shop was very well stocked and reasonably priced, supplying great bread from the local bakery. And the chappy that mans the shop was lovely and friendly, and great for a spot of advice on the local walks.
The local pub was great for a big feed and stocked a great selection of local beers and had an ok beer garden.
While it was a great location, I’m not sure I’d choose to go there again unless they do something about the pitch spacing.

Just had 5 wonderful days at this campsite. On arrival the staff were happy & helpful which gave a good first impression. Although very windy on setting up, a couple of fellow campers rushed to our aid as the tent was blowing in the sky! Fortunately wind dropped after this and all was well.
The site was very clean & spacious and where we were pitched the ground was flat & very near to facilities but without being on top of them. The shower & toilets were immaculate with soft toilet tissue, modern & new appliances and separate cubical adjacent to shower which was great for getting ready in. Never had to queue for loos or showers and had hot running water day and night.
Shop staff very friendly and sold everything you we needed and were not over priced. Pub on site again were so friendly and food and hospitality were excellent! Both camp site and pub dog friendly.
Site perfectly located for forest walks and 20 mins or so to busier places like Poole & Christchurch. Fabulous place! Cant wait to go again next year although will try for 10 days next time as loved it that much!

We have a medium sized motorhome and stayed here for three nights, on arrival we got booked in
With no hold ups, shown to site and told where
All services were. It is quite a large site and was very full mainly with tents and lots of children, being a weekend thought we may have problems with noise but there was no problem at all most of these left on Sunday.
The showers and toilet blocks were immaculate, the only problem we had here was on Tuesday morning when there was about a quarter of the site booked we had to leave without a shower as it looked as if some of them had been locked and people were queuing for up to half an hour (if showers are to be locked may I suggest that the situation is looked at on a daily basis as to how many are on the site).
The shop is open longer than most site shops and stocks most things, even ordering newspapers for the next day.
There is a pub at the entrance to the site, the food and drink is excellent.
We will certainly stay there again if in the area.

Stayed at Red shoot for 5 nights as part of our Summer holidays and wished we had booked it for longer! But as we had already arranged to be at another campsite and were meeting up with another two families, this was not to be.
The site is ideally located for exploring the new forest and the surrounding areas, especially if you have cycles, which sadly, we didn't. Although the shop seemed to be well stocked, we did not use it very often and tended to buy while we were out.
The toilet/shower block were second to none and were kept immaculate on a daily basis throughout our stay there. The adjacent farm was noisy at certain times of the day(morning), but this did not spoil our enjoyment of our stay, after all we were in the countryside!
The Red shoot inn was a pleasant pub with friendly staff, serving some of their own beers that were brewed on the premises. We had evening meals a couple of times there and found the food to be fine but pricey.
Pitch fees were expensive, but I suppose you get what you pay for. This would not stop us from returning to this site in the not to distant future, but this time with bikes. Overall, the site had a nice feel about it and we were really happy while staying there.

The site is a great size, made up of around 5 sections of field sheltered by hedges. The shower blocks are fantastic, brand new, clean and with underfloor heating.
The pub next door serves huge portions of delicious stodge which does the job after a day's hiking and there are two other good ones nearby. High barn- 1.5 mile walk- and the Alice Lisle- 2miles away.
Site is maintained by some friendly Aussie twentysomethings and they're always there to give tips on where to go for a beer.
Would highly recommend for couples, families and friends. Will be back!

We really liked this site.
We were given a great positioned pitch in the top field,it was flat but did have a very slight lean to it, we had ehu (for the first time) so were around the perimeter.
The site seems as popular with tents, campervans and caravans so had a nice mix - not too much of one type. I had read that it was cramped when full in previous reviews. It was full for the bank holiday weekend but did not seem cramped at all - they have removed some pitches.
The washblock was fantastic, really clean (closed 11-11.30 daily for a very thorough clean)and so warm. Didn't need to queue for the sinks for washing up. Water was hot at any time - showers were pushbutton but not 'bad' push button ones.
The staff were really friendly & helpful.
One family arrived really late on the Friday night and had to set up in the pitch dark. In the morning the wardens told them they were in the wrong place - then helped them to move the whole large tent to their proper pitch position.
There was a fair amount of rain, but this didn't bog the ground down, it drained quickly where we were.
My 7yr old loved the play area, she made many friends there.
The site shop was very handy, we ran out of campingaz so glad they stocked it. My 11yr old spent loads on the jokes in there (stink bombs, itching powder etc all used after we got home).
The pub was appreciated by my husband a LOT. We got friendly with 'next door' so the husbands went off to sample the own brews on the Saturday night. I was asleep when they got back but by I assume they tried a few ;-). We ate there on the Sunday night - really nice food and then live music.
There is such a charm about the New Forest and this was bang in it - wonderful.
Easy drive to Bournemouth and Christchurch for getting further again.
I would be more than happy to go back and happily recommend it.
