Came here for a long weekend at the end of summer and had a great time.
The campsite is in an excellent area, so is great for walking from, and bikes are also available for hire. The pitches are reasonably spacious, and there are good facilities – A shop, large washing up area, laundry room and a spotless toilet block – but this can get a little crowded at times. The nearby pub has a really good atmosphere, a small brewery and has quite a large menu, but meals are quite pricey. We spent quite some time wandering round the nearby woods, which were large enough for a good stroll. The manager (although a very nice bloke) does like to keep the grass trim!
Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable site that is well worth visiting.

August 2005 Just had a lovely week here. Found the site easily. The only draw backs we found was that the showers can get very busy so shower at different times of the day, the floors were very wet, and they do seem to cram a lot of tents onto a very small field, the facilities are quite dated and basic but apart from that the staff are very friendly, the site is well kept clean and tidy. I was woken up most mornings by the scariest bird noise in the world and it is great to go to the loo in the morning and see donkeys and foals waiting at the gate. Recommend the pub good menu choice for adults and kids would we go back... yes, sum up, excellent, basic, but clean site in stunning setting with a good pub, hubby liked the micro brewery, toms tipple.

July 2005 I love this site and have been going here from childhood into adulthood! I cannot place why I like it as the facilities are basic, although have seen some updates and modernisation, including the childrens play area. All areas are clean and kept in good working order, I suspect the reason why its so good is the owner maintains a personal interest and ensures everyone is happy.

June 2005 The camp site was really well placed and the warden friendly. The directions are also excellent. The camp site is especially good for kiddies and things and well based to see the sights. The only downside are the too few showers in the mens and ladies section. They need more or you should shower at obscure times. My husband was a bit disappointed at the lack of facilities for leisure - arcade etc but this wasn't a major issue.

March 2005 Despite having 3 inches of snow on the car bonnet, and sense of doom and gloom for my first camping trip in 10 years, the whole experience turned out great.
The campsite was spacious and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The facilities clean and functional. An excellent pub on site with micro-brewery and wonderful food didn't do it any harm either!!!
It is a perfect location for exploring the new forest and I will definitely return in the future.

June 2004 A really good site with big level pitches and friendly staff. Well sheltered as our tent withstood all of the wind and rain during our stay. Well stocked shop with maps etc and a big selection of leaflets of places to visit. Good pub next door and lots of others withing 10 mins drive. Toilets and showers OK, my only criticism is that the guide of 4 pushes of the shower (30 seconds per push) is unrealistic, especially for women!! In the middle of the forest, an ideal base for cycling and walking. Would definitely visit again.

September2003 This site is in a lovely area. We had a meal in the pub which was excellent. They even gave the children crayons to fill in the kids menu while we waited for the meal-brilliant idea. We thought the play area was quite small.
Pitch was uneven and were not marked out very clearly. The shop did sell most things but quite pricey. I found the pricing of the tomatoes a bit strange--20p each!
There were lots of ladies toilets and they were clean but the floor was very wet. I only saw 3 showers and I found it ok, water temperature was fine when I used it. I think there could be more showers especially when the site is full. We would love to go back to the area but the price was too high for the facilities offered. We payed over £31 for 2 nights-2 adults,2 children and 1 small dog.

19th - 2st September If arriving in the dark you may struggle to actually find this place, we got lost and spent half an hour driving aimlessly around the New Forest and that was with someone guiding us in on the mobile phone. The signage for this site is terrible and if you blink you will miss the only sign I saw.
The site itself is located in a beautiful location right in the heart of the New Forest with plenty of nice walks around and the coast not too far to drive. The site has the fantastic Red Shoot pub serving Stella, Strongbow, Guinness and all the other favourites. Their menu is extensive and reasonably prices, average £8 per adult meal.
There are only 3 showers and 3 toilets in the men’s block and I think it is the same in the ladies. This created havoc with people queuing for a shower and the toilet at 9am on both the Saturday and Sunday. It was even noticed at midday there was a queue of people outside the ladies on the Sunday!! The floor was continually wet in the men’s block and the showers were non-directional, no temperature control and on a push button system. To help preserve water they only allow you 4 pushes of the shower, which is just about enough to shower, but if you have kids in with you this may become a little difficult. There were no shower curtains, so ensure you take a carrier bag to stop your clothes and shoes getting wet. There was always toilet paper and despite the wet floor, the facilities were nice and clean, just not enough of them for a site of this size.
There is a nice play area for the kiddies and a sand pit for the younger ones, there is of course the New Forest which is a giant playground, loads of walks and mountain biking etc.
The reception staff that greeted us were nice and friendly and informative on the local area. The shop on site sold all the daily essentials which is handy for milk, bread etc. There is a no-noise policy from 10.30pm which is enforced by wardens wandering the site until 1am to ensure the quiet is adhered to.
The site really let itself down though due to pitch size, admittedly the site was fully booked the weekend we were here but there seemed to be a totally disregard from them on pitch sizes and how many units they could cram into one field. They packed them in so tightly that they had even added a splitter on our hook-up so that they could plug another unit in, this resulted in each unit only supplying 5amps to draw from and consequently we tripped the electric. They screw the hook-up boxes closed so you either have to dig around for a screwdriver or go and ask a member of staff to re-trip the power.
Well would I visit this site again? If they took a long hard look at the costs and spread out the pitches to a better distance then I would consider coming back.

April 2003 We had a lovely time at this site. The showers and toilets were very clean, and the site was well maintained. We were woekn up at about 4am every morning by a cockerel. The cows nearby also made quite a lot of noise. We hired bikes from the site, which were not brilliant, and the tandem was no longer available. The Red Shoot Inn served us a lovely food (I'd reccommend the sizzling steaks!) And, most importantly, the site was MOSQUITO FREE!!! We'd definitely visit again.
