Wonderful location on the edge of Hawes in upper Wensleydale. 10 minutes walk into the centre of Hawes, and walks radiate in all directions.
The camping field is large and flat with marked-out pitches, which means it never gets busy.
It is a very quiet site, and the facilities are excellent with good showers (although pick your times to make sure there's a good supply of hot water). Owners are friendly and helpful and the farm sells milk.
One of the best campsites in the Yorkshire Dales.

We have enjoyed this site for many years and we wish all campsites would give you space and views that this site does. Although facilities are rustic they are spotless clean. Janet & Mark are so friendly and helpful. Hope it stays in the family for many more years.
Fantastical location for scenery and walks. The drive over Buttertubs is a must. The pubs in Hawes are getting ready for re vamp as they are stuck in 1970s but sell good ale!

Were very lucky with weather, warmest weekend in may for decades. Wonderful panoramic views from any pitch, but no shady pitches if you don't like the sun! Some nice walks from site and pleasant stroll into Hawes with its shops restaurants and 5 pubs! What more do you need?
Downsides? Toilets not 5* but very clean and I would recommend an early shower or leave it till later, at 9 am no hot water left but site was almost full.

We made a late booking for this site on the basis of the very good reviews we have read on this site.
We were not disappointed in any way and have spent a fantastic Bank Holiday weekend in wonderful surroundings.
The owners were really friendly and welcoming, showing us to our pitch and explaining where everything was. Facilities were spotlessly clean - my hubby says that the shower he used was very powerful and there was plenty of hot water. I am not such a connoisseur of showers, but I enjoyed mine too!
We are only about 40 miles from the site (over the border, in Lancashire!) and we plan to make a return visit as soon as we can.
We would recommend this site highly.

Spent the May Day bank holiday weekend here in our camper along with my daughter, partner and 21 month old for their first experience under canvas. Having read all previous reviews, we weren't disappointed.
We had a hard-standing pitch with views up to Wether Fell and the owner spent some time with us advising on a sheltered pitch on the tent field for my daughter. The tents did seem quite close together - particularly with a heavy snorer on the adjacent pitch! - but the site seemed very spacious overall despite being full.
Facilities are as already described - hot / powerful showers well worth the 20p, clean and numerous toilets, washing/drying room and washing up/food prep area.
Additional family-friendly touches include some lower wash basisns and plastic steps for small ones, eggs/milk for sale and the offer of phone recharging and ice-pack freezing. Posting up the daily weather forecast was also very useful.
Plenty of pubs to choose from in Hawes (a 10 minute stroll across a field) for an evening drink and / or meal - we had a lovely meal at the White Hart Inn which I can recommend. Spent the journey home thinking how the site could be improved - and couldn't come up with anything!

There's not much to say on the facilities and layout of this site that hasn't already been said.
However, I would like to compliment the owners. When we arrived the cheerful owner helped me decide which pitch to take by pointing out the most sheltered aspect, he knew the direction of the prevailing wind so suggested we pitch behind a dry stone wall. Good advice indeed as the wind got very strong at times, and others less fortunate campers were blown out of their tents.
Because we had such bad weather we only stayed for 4 of the six days we had booked for. The nice lady owner completely understood why we were leaving, and only charged for the nights we stayed, even though on booking I was told we would have to pay 6 nights or they couldn't book us in - for less than 6 nights it is turn up on spec policy.
The site is very traditional and in a lovely area. It's personal preferance whether one likes the pitching around the edge system. I liked the order of it, and the area in the middle for the children to play ball away from the tents.
Only real gripe is that I wish the pitches were wider. With the growing size of tents, some of our neighbours were quite snug to us!

We have just stayed for 2 nights at this lovely campsite. It was £13 per night for a tent, car, 2 adults and a dog.
The campsite has a lovely layout and is very tidy. As you first go in there are statics and tourers. Beyond the farm building are additional fields. Here are more tourers, RVs and tents. The toilet and shower facilities are clean and the water is hot. It is 20p for a shower. There are also recycling bins, a washing-up area and a laundry room.
Staff are lovely and very helpful. The tents are asked to pitch around the outside leaving a huge space for children to play in the middle.
It was just a shame that the weather wasn't too good as it got VERY WINDY and there is little protection around the campsite.
If you are after a campsite for a first time camping experience then this place would be a good place to start.
It is only a 10-15 minute walk into Hawes where you can get groceries, eat at cafes and pubs.

Just spent an enjoyable three days here. The site is situated in a picturesque location on the edge of the village of Hawes. Easy ten mins walk to the village which has a host of pubs specialist shops, and a couple of take aways.
Site consists of three camping fields which only the edges are used so does give an impression of space although the pitches themselves are not huge and do feel a liitle close to your neighbours.Grass is well kept as is the whole site,as said in previous reviews the toilet facilities are old fashioned but were always spotlessly clean.
Laundry facility also available and reception freezes your ice packs for 10p each.
Lovely walk across to Hardraw where there is a waterfall and the green dragon pub where you can stop for a drink or two.Takes about forty mins.
The only negative point I can make is that booking are not accepted for less than six nights stay and due to popularity of site you may well be disappointed to just turn up and find site full.
Overall 9/10 (only as you cant pre book) and yes we will return and would also recommend this site to any one looking for a relaxing stay in stunning surroundings.

Just spent two nights here, fri and sat.The site is in a wonderful area and ideally placed for walking. The facilities are basic but clean, no problems with the water supply as others have commented even though the site was full. Good draining field even after torrential rain on fri night and Saturday morning. Loads of room for the kids to play, though no swings etc and so have to make their own amusement.
Thought the tariff to be very fair at £13.00 a night for two adults car and tent. Nice level area for pitching tents. Friendly owners. So what about the downsides? the only two things I would change would be the booking system,at present you can only book for six nights or more, no good if you touring and need to know that you've definitely got a pitch for a night or two, and the other being tiles on the toilet/ shower area instead of bare concrete would be nice.
All in all though a very nice site in a beautiful area

I can only echo what has been said before. This is a lovely site in a beautiful location.
The owners are extremely helpful & friendly, & charge a very reasonable rate.
The fact that they leave the centre of the field free for kids to play games emphasises the family friendliness of the site.
It is a good base from which to tour the Dales, whether you are a caravanner, family camper, or more serious backpacker (even if the site is busy, they will still endeavour to find a spot for backpackers)
Will definitely be going back in the near future.
