Stayed here with friends, a really friendly site. Great views short walk into Hawes lots of cafes, pubs to eat out we tried the Bay Tree for lunch and had a lovely evening meal in the White Hart. The whole place is very friendly and there are some really good shops. Unfortunately the weather was pretty bad so didn't do the walks we planned, but lots of opportunities to go walking. We will return hopefully when the weather picks up if the weather picks up having said that good drying facilities on the site and lots of hot water.

This was our second visit to this spacious and varied site. It has a mix of tourers, statics and tents.

We just did a couple of - wild and wet - nights.

Id previously asked for a 'quiet spot' (if they had one) when booking. This backfired on two counts.

Firstly, because of the torrential rain before and during our stay, our pitch - on the low end of the site, got a bit water-logged. Fair enough - no-ones fault here.

But secondly, we were joined by another unit with a load of kids. Kids with 'modern parents' - the very worst kind. Who are happy for said offspring to 'express themselves' - which they did by running through and amongst everyone elses pitches, apart from their own!

However, having managed to bite my lip, tongue and anything else to hand, after maybe half an hour they went a bit more central with a football - luckily it only hit us the once!

This episode over, the rest of the stay was dictated by the weather - lots of it. We managed to get down into Hawes a couple of times - accessed by numerous footpaths from various directions. The village is short of nothing you would need, so no need to arrive covered for every eventuality.

The site itself is one of two in Hawes. Located above the village with great views. (the other being a 'Club site' which looked grossly overcrowded when we had a snoop in on our travels).

The facilities are adequate - although we didn't use most of them, having our own on tap. The leccy was up to the job, and water wasn't much of a walk to fill up. The bins, showers, CDP etc are central around the house/reception.

The price was £17 for the unit + 2, which is probably about right for the area and whats provided on site. All in all its what id call a 'good site'. But, I will say, having been twice now; if you really value your 'peace and quiet', due to the mixed bag of 'campers' staying at any one time, you are virtually guaranteed kids and consternation from time to time wherever you are pitched.

We stayed here for 4 nights as part of our grand tour of the North of England and it was great. Excellent location, easy walking distance to Hawes and good access to walks around the area.

Facilities are good if a bit basic, but clean. Showers 20p for 5 mins - my only complaint was the money box was outside the cubicle and the 5 mins starts as soon as you put the money in - so make sure you are ready to go!

Office was very friendly and open all day with weather forecasts and leaflets on local attractions available. The weather was appalling for the 4 days we were here and the ground did get very soft - we were on the grass pitches at the bottom of the site. But we did manage to get off with no problems. Definitely will come here again - hopefully in better weather!

New to caravanning (after the summer monsoons tired us of 'proper' camping under canvas) we visited this site and were pleasantly surprised by what good value it represented. At only £17 per night for 2 people with EHU in a touring caravan, we've often paid considerably more for our tent - even without EHU. Unlike Camping and Caravanning Club sites, facilities were a bit basic but spotlessly clean -and superior to many more expensive sites we've visited whilst in our tent (I do think the 2 star rating very unfair; we've stopped at very remote sites with little more in the way of facilities which have been rated up to 5 star - presumably because of their posh shower blocks and loo's - which command a hefty premium! The showers incidentally are 20p, but good value as they're power showers).

The site unsurprisingly then was very busy, even after the 'peak' season with the kids back at school. A combination of hikers, campers and caravanners kept the site buzzing, but with plenty of room between pitches you never felt hemmed in. With no kids facilities though this may be a bit too basic for families? (A plus for adults only though, with no kids to shatter the peace and quiet!). Reception was very friendly and sold only the very basics - milk, eggs and gas bottles - there was no bespoke shop to speak of.

This however doesn't matter, as the many shops in Hawes are only 10-15 min's walk from the site or a very short drive, making for an unrivalled location. Hawes itself is a pretty little Dales town; 4 pubs, small supermarkets, plenty of smaller shops and lots of places to eat or gently peruse the time away; just a shame about the black clouds and mist that seemed ever present clinging to the hills! We mostly ate in our caravan, but like other reviewers I'd recommend the fish 'n' chip cafe/takeaway - even if it isn't in the same league as Whitby's Magpie!

Definitely recommended; if I return to Hawes this will be our 1st choice of site.

Just returned home from a 2 night mid-week stay on this site. It was one of the nicest sites we have been on, very friendly staff who accepted us after a phone call out of the blue, after we couldn't get on another local site as it was all closed up in middle of the afternoon.

Facilities are fantastic, plenty of hot showers for 20p, and loads of hot water and huge sinks for washing up. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and tidy, facilities also include hairdryers, washing machines, spin dryers, tumble dryer, handwash and always plenty of loo paper!

There's lots to see and do around Hawes which is in easy walking distance. We shall definitely return.

We used this site as a the final stopover of our holiday.

On arrival we were met by the owner who was very friendly and helpful. The pitch we were allocated was large, hardstanding and close to all facilities.

Toilets, showers and washing facilities were all clean and in full working order although they could maybe do with updating.

During our visit it was very wet and windy but we were still able to walk down into Hawes via the footpath across a field. The town is full of pubs plus a couple of restaurants and a chippie where you can eat in. That was our pick for the evening and comes highly recommended.

In better weather Hawes would be a very nice place to spend the day.

Its worth noting that the A roads via which this site is accessed are twisty, often tree lined and very narrow in places.

Just returned from our first but not last visit to this site. Only fault was young children hanging around toilets.

Showers lovely and warm, only had to wait once. Best fish and chips ever in hawes town better than magpies at whitby.

Dog friendly pubs serving meals seem to pay more than at home but that's nothing new.

Had a ride on the old bus to the redmile train station. Plenty of dog walks.

Spa shop selling everything you need.

Other shops pricey, worth a visit to the cheese factory. Overall excellent site and would recommend.

Just got back from a 2 night stay at this campsite.

I turned up with my family and 3 dogs and received a warm welcome and was offered a choice of pitches. We chose the large field to take in the views.

Facilities were clean and tidy, and I certainly never had a problem with the hot water for the showers whilst there. The site filled up quite quickly. But never felt crowded. The kids made use of the ample space in the middle of the field to let of steam.

There are plenty of footpaths from the campsite to walk the dogs. Just be aware with kids (and an old dog) a lot of the gates in the walls are high up and narrow.

Hawes is a matter of minutes walk away. Don't forget to try the Chippy. This campsite is well maintained and we had a very relaxing time. I'd certainly re visit (we only live 20 miles away).

The site has a 2 star award. It certainly deserves another star

Nice little site. Arrived the day after some rather wet weather and found it difficult to pitch anywhere that wasn, t flooded. Great location to visit nearby Aysgarth Falls, Ingleton Falls and White Scar Caves. Reasonable price too.

Biggest gripe was that after 3 nights the owner decided to tell us we had pitched in the wrong place! We should have pitched in between 2 posts rather than be central to a post? As experienced campers we've never encountered this before. Considering the site was very quiet I thought this was an unnecessary comment considering how long we had been there. Due to this I don't think we would return. Shame really.

God we love this site we have been using it for years, Mark and Janet are great hosts nothing is to much trouble, ok so the facilities are dated but they are spotless, you camp around the perimeter of the fields only so never packed.

No shop on site but they do sell milk and eggs, they also re-freeze your ice packs.

Handy for Hawes which is 10 minute walk away, choice of pubs and places to eat, spar shop in town.

If you enjoy walking then isn't a better site in the Dales.
