A very well positioned site within the Yorkshire Dales National Park and easy walking distance of Hawes. The site is extremely well kept with a friendly welcome. We had a week here and would highly recommend this site. Excellent value for money, spacious pitches with fantastic views. The facilities cater for all needs and are kept clean. The site office is open every evening and the owners are very helpful with advice. I particularly liked the tents kept around the edges of the field leaving plenty of space for kids to play whilst still allowing family groups to 'bunch up' a bit if that is what is wanted.

The site is a perfect base for walkers and cyclists and there are plenty of attractions within easy distance.

The town of Hawes has most things needed for supplies etc and if you don't fancy cooking, some good options for a night off - I particularly recommend both the fish & chip shop and if a proper breakfast is needed, try the Wenslydale Pantry (above the Spar shop)!

If visiting from the beginning of May until the end of August then a 'must see' is Richard Fawcett with his working sheepdog demonstrations on Thursday evenings just outside the village. Also worth a look is the Dales Museum in Hawes - Tip - Visit early in your stay as the entry ticket is valid for the week. We visited and returned later in the week for a Drystone Walling demonstration & talk.

All in all, this is a campsite that I would wholeheartedly recommend for all of the reasons above. We will certainly be returning here when we visit one of our favourite areas.

We come here regularly - love the fact that the centre of the camping field is kept free for games/kids even though ours have now fled the nest now. Beautiful views, simple walk to Hawes or Gayle and friendly and really helpful owners.

This is a proper old fashioned campsite and we love it.

Toilet facilities etc can come under a bit of strain when the site is full but it is worth putting up with a bit of a wait to wake up in such stunning scenery.

One of the best campsites I've been too and the best value for money too! Right in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and just a five minute walk from Hawes town centre!

The cost was only £6 pppn. Showers were 20p for 5 minutes (although we didn't use them) and phone battery charging for 50p (donation to Air Ambulance, so it is for a good cause rather than a money making scheme like some places).

The owner was lovely, and the local bus service from Garsdale station to Hawes is very reliable and had friendly drivers. Without the bus we wouldn't have been able to visit.

The campsite has good drinking water facilities and recycling too for the environmentally conscious (like myself), which seem to be lacking at some campsites.

The camping fields are very good, dry and don't have man rocks to damage the pegs. It was was very windy during out stay, so make sure your tent is well pegged in!

Lovely scenery with rolling hills and well situated to walk part of the Penine Way, we walked north to Great Shunner Fell with awesome panoramic views and rugged moor/grassland.

Hawes town centre is lovely too, with the National Park Visitor Centre, bakery, pubs and independent shops (we particularly liked the crystal/ornament shop which also stocked some fair trade TILNAR art goods).

Really nice site in a lovely location - beautiful scenery all round. Nice field site, plenty of space, good facilities. Owners are really helpful - our friends turned up without tent pegs and they helped out with spare supplies. Hawes town centre is very close, so excellent fish and chips are easily available, though all the local shops close quite early so limited opportunities to stock up if you realise you've forgotten something essential. Only reservation is that the site is a bit exposed, so if bad weather comes up the valley you get it full blast.

We called at this site (we were supposed to be on another site but that was not suitable), and received a very warm welcome with an offer of availability straight away. We quickly settled in and found it was just what we were looking for. The facilities was good and the surrounding scenery is amazing (of course the weather was excellent)too. We stayed for 3 nights and was reluctant to want to go home. We have booked again to return in August as we enjoyed it so much.

This was our 3rd stay at this fantastic site, really friendly owners, we were given a choice of pitch position, very clean showers (20p) and toilets. Great views of the Dales from the site, short walk into Hawes with shops, pubs, restaurants, cafes etc, good base for touring the Dales, South Lakeland, Highly recommended.

The location is very pretty with the Yorkshire Dales surrounding the site. It's a bit of a walk into Hawes (probably wouldn't have felt as far had it not been blowing a gale each time we walked in). The owner is friendly. The site is spacious and well maintained. It is let down by the facilities. Simple things like no shower curtains so everything gets wet, charging extra for showers and the coin slot being outside the cubicles hints at owners who have never camped.

Like all the other comments I must say that the site has such amazing panoramic views and it is so so stunning its a shame that we had to go home, toilet blocks are basic and maybe a few floor tiles in the shower areas wouldn't go a miss but they are clean and well maintained, on arrival we were met by the warden and given a choice of pitch which was perfect for us, a steady walk through 2 small fields took us into Hawes and well worth the small walk, we were very lucky with the weather and spent 6 nights there and most early evenings we would walk to the pubs to sample the local beers and even sat outside in t-shirts. Lovely areas to visit and stunning drives up some very twitchy roads. We have 2 dogs and we were able to walk from the site either through the fields which were well sign posted into nearby villages but with the lambing season we had to keep them on a lead but hey it is the Y/Dales and you would expect to keep the dogs on leads. Overall a very pleasant visit even without a television signal and would definalty return.

I would agree with all that's been said. Lovely clean site with large pitches and helpful owners. Hawes on the doorstep which is lovely and a good area for rambling. The one thing I wanted to comment on to help other visitors is the lack of dog friendliness in general in this area. You can't exercise dogs in site / no dog walk - which is fair enough, but whilst you are surrounded by fields they are full of sheep, and I literally couldn't find anywhere within a two mile area of the campsite where you could let your dogs have a run off the lead. I found some playing fields - full of 'No Dog' signs, I found a little park - for children not dogs. I couldn't find anywhere at all. While they can have a lead walk it's not the same as having a good run around, maybe having the ball thrown etc. I have marked it down on the overall score purely because it would benefit (given the amount of space on the site) for just a small area set aside as a dog walking area, given the difficulties finding anywhere offset for the dogs. Lots of other sites have dog areas and it's really helpful for those early morning or last thing at night walkies and for somewhere to throw the ball. Unfortunately because of this with two dogs it would put me off coming again.

From the booking phone call to leaving the site it proved a really friendly well run site. Despite some wet weather the toilets and showers were always clean.

True to their word they kept a hardstanding for us. It is so easy to walk into Hawes it proved an excellent site to use. The views from the site are wonderful.

We will be back.

Thank you.

Chris & Shirley.
