We have visited this site many times and have always been impressed by the tranquility of the setting and the warm welcome we have received. Although the site doesn't have playgrounds etc the owners policy of keeping the centre of the three large fields empty means that the children have plenty of space to play and they always enjoy their time here. A wonderful centre for walking or just relaxing, reasonably priced and the views are priceless.

This campsite, happened upon by chance, is absolutely great as confirmed by the other reviews here. Such fantastic owners, spacious flat pitches, good little store, very close to the village where you can eat somewhere different every night for at least a week. My (quite luxuriously late) alarm clock was the gentle mooing of a cow in an adjoining field. Superb. Good that there are firm boundaries for not disturbing fellow campers here and there's nothing too much trouble for the owners, who will happily provide info on local attractions etc and pretty much anything else, this was a field of very happy campers indeed despite a very rainy weekend - this is so rare. The only thing I'd say is when you shower, take a carrier bag to hang your clean clothes in to keep them dry (nowhere dry to put them in the cubicle) but this is a minor niggle and the same at campsites UK-wide. The slightly idiosyncratic way of having the coin-meter on the outside of the cubicle is um, different! But 20p gives a good 5 minutes of piping hot water, and the block is kept clean and well cared for. This is such a good place, and a bargain - I WILL return asap :o) Ooh - try the breakfast at the cafe toward the top end of the village, I heartily recommend the all day brekkie and the filled Yorkshire pud - they don't skimp on portion size, it's very reasonable, and it also seems a great family-run business. Thanks all for a great holiday!

Had 4 great nights at this lovely rustic site with a tent and EHU. Janet gives a very warm welcome and shows you to your pitch, also giving you the option of moving pitches but she'd chosen a nice pitch for us so we were happy. Lent us an extension for free for our hook up. Plenty of toilets and showers(20p), never had to queue, although at busy times the hot water is just warm but shower off peak and there's loads of hot water. Quite a bit of grass in the showers after the grass had been cut, but the wind was probably blowing it in. No children's play area that I could see, but with pitching around the edges of the fields it leaves plenty of room in the middle for ball games etc. Nice walk into Hawes, the footpath across a field is paved with yorkstone so no muddy feet! Janet sells basics (milk, eggs) but plenty of shops in Hawes for all your needs. Overall the site offers very reasonable rates, is in a lovely location with stunning views and ideal for all. We WILL be back!

We just loved this site, and will be going back despite having experienced some of the worst weather I've encountered in over 30 years of camping and a fair few disasters (car, tent and dog all malfunctioned!). It's clean, spacious and very well organised. Pitches are around the perimeter of two more or less level fields and are marked so that everyone has plenty of room. The grass is kept nice and short, and the site generally is immaculate. Recycling is positively encouraged and there is an array of neatly labelled bins. There's nothing to entertain kids apart from a grassy field, but that suits us as we prefer to avoid ankle-biters where possible! It might not suit those who like to lie in - the neighbouring farmer came and checked his sheep at 6.50 every morning, on a noisy quad bike with an even noisier sheepdog. The toilet and shower facilities are spotless and cleaned regularly and I never had to queue for a shower. They may be a little basic for some tastes (concrete floors, and a bit on the chilly side) but worked fine although I'm told the hot water can be a bit erratic in busy spells. They would benefit greatly from the addition of a shower curtain as it was difficult to keep your towel and clean clothes dry and there wasn't much room to hang stuff in the shower cubicles. Showers are 20p for 5 minutes, and another 20p buys you a similar amount of time from a very tiny but remarkably powerful hairdrier. In the awful weather we had, the washing machine (£2) and tumble drier (£1 for 30 mins) were very useful. They're housed in a room that also accommodates the boiler, and the owners have thoughtfully provided airers so there is plenty of room for drying wet stuff. The washing up facilities were excellent too. The owners and other staff were very friendly and helpful, and sell camping gas at reasonable prices as well as the other stuff mentioned. Hawes is pleasant stroll away and a good centre for touring the Dales, with 4 dog-friendly pubs all serving meals, several cafes, an Indian takeaway and a great chippy. It has pretty much everything you're likely to need except a vet, and that's only a couple of miles down the road in Bainbridge. The general friendliness extends to shopkeepers, publicans and townsfolk too - we were made to feel like locals after a few days. As for attractions, with countryside like that, who needs 'em? Definitely going back!

We have just arrived home after a one night stay at this lovely location. It was the very first time we have ever been touring as we only bought our first caravan last week! We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and will definitely go back. We had a very warm welcome and a great pitch with electric hookup. The toilets were very clean. I didn't use the showers as we used the one in our caravan. I didn't notice a play area, although I expect there was one. We don't have young children, although we do have a little dog and she seemed to love it too! The site is close to Haworth and there is a footpath close by which makes walking into the village very easy. There are plenty of shops, restaurants and pubs in this charming place and most of the shops and some of the pubs were very happy to allow us to take our dog inside. The views from the campsite are gorgeous and the surrounding countryside is beautiful. Definitely recommended.

Situated in the heart of the Dales, this makes a great base to explore the surrounding area. Very welcoming, well kept and peaceful campsite with good facilities. The owners were very helpful, especially when we forgot our bath towels and they kindly provided some. Our car battery went flat the next day and they provided a jump-start. Hawes is only a 10-minute walk away across a couple of fields, where there are plenty of cafes, pubs and the odd restaurant or two. We can recommend the Indian Restaurant near to where the market is held. This is a text-book example of how a campsite should be run, and we cannot wait to return in 2007 !

One of the best campsite around. This was our 3rd visit this year and we only started camping at the end of May. Hawes is a lovely place to holiday and Bainbridge Ings is the best place to stay. There are some great walks from the site. Janet & Mark give you a very warm welcome.
We live in Birmingham so we have to travel around 3 hours to get there but it is definitely worth it. The facilities are very good and the whole site is well looked after.

This is one of the nicest and friendliest sites in the country. Beautiful views from the site make sitting outside the tent a pleasure in itself. Facilities are basic, but clean and well kept.A short walk to Hawes and there are pubs, restaurants and shops a plenty. Most of the pubs are dog friendly. We have visited this site many times in the last few years, always in a tent. This year we have got ourselves a little old caravan, can't wait to take it to Bainbridge Ings next year - even if the thoughts of towing on those winding, narrow roads is a bit daunting.

My family (Two adults two children and our dog)visited in August 06 and immediately we drove on the site we could see it was well run, this was confirmed by the friendly staff in the office who were very helpful in showing us the choices we had to pitch our tent. Although the week we stayed it rained every day the site did not get boggy or over wet which is really great. All the facilities were very clean and more than adequate 20p for the showers and a good five minutes was plenty. It is really good the way all the camping units are put around the edge of the fields so that children (and adults) can play games, fly kites and the like, without fear of disrupting the peace of the other campers. The views from the site are wonderful, it certainly was a great base to visit attractions in the area both on foot and in the car. We are going back next year for another visit to this wonderful area of our pleasant land. We would recommend this site to anyone with confidence.

This was our first ever family camping trip so can't compare it with other sites. Fantastic scenery, easy to find and helpful owners. When we arrived the camping bit was full, so they put us in the caravan bit instead (field next door to tent field. The field was on a slight hill but manageable. Lots of room for the tent and car.
It rained almost non stop for the two days we were there but the ground stayed fairly solid, not much mud. Toilets and showers were perfectly clean, the showers were hot (cost 20P for 5 mins) .
On the downside, limited things on site for children, plenty of space but no playground etc, no bar / cafe / shop. Hawes is an easy 10 minute walk away, plenty of pubs and a Spar shop. If you want somewhere peaceful with lots of nearby walking activities then this is a good place to go, if you want somewhere to take active children then maybe not
