I can only repeat what I have already said and others have also. Great little camp site.
Showers and toilets immaculate (you can see Pat there with her rubber gloves giving everywhere a good clean).
The hedges give some privacy and also act as a bit of a wind barrier
Alan and Pat are really friendly and Alan knows the area like the back of his hand, so can give directions and tips.
The dog field is great for first thing in the morning or last thing at night.
I do agree with the point about the taps, they are the push type and once you let go the water stops, so it's hard to wash your hands and also clean your toothbrush, but this is only a minor gripe.
I agree that there are no shops near, but I would prefer the peace and quiet the campsite brings. We used to shop when we were out during the day and the Co-op isn't that far.
The Long Mynd and Stiperstones are forever beautiful - both quite different. We ventured to Cader Idris. Wow. As the man said it is 3hours up and 2 hours down (unless you're running. Yup we saw some!)
If you like villages there are plenty and very pretty too. If you like bigger places there is Bridgnorth and Ironbridge. So much to see in such a little time you are literally spoiled for choice. So go and enjoy, you will I can assure you.

I shouldn't be writing this review -- because I want to keep it a secret for the ones that have already stayed and enjoyed the caravan site. If you want an all action site then this is not for you. If you want a site where you are woken up at the crack of dawn just listening to the glorious dawn chorus - this is your site - seriously ! From the moment we arrived on site (and this was our first ever visit) and was met by Pat, just about everything couldn't be faulted. Pat took us to what would be our pitch, and suggested '' Get settled - have a cup of tea and then come and find me when you want to pay''. Needless to say we did just that and there was no pressure from Alan and Pat (the site owners) for payment. After sorting out the caravan and getting the chairs and table out onto the grass area adjacent to our pitch, my wife and I sat in the warm sunshine and I asked her a question ''Listen - what can you hear beside the countryside?'' I asked -
My reply was just one word ''NOTHING!'' my wife said. And it's true There was nothing to hear no traffic - just bird song and a far away farmers tractor.
Although we were just a couple we pitched within the family area and although the site was reasonably busy (it was Spring bank holiday week), there was no excessive noise - just happy child play noise.
I can only comment on what I found with the shower block on the male side - the cleanliness was faultless - everywhere was immaculate even the shower curtains were wonderfully saucy but tasteful with printed pictures of wartime U. S navy style clad ladies. Two small criticisms are the hand wash basin hot taps. They are the push down type which when you let go, the tap switches off instantly and the sink tap water could do with being just a few degrees warmer. The showers do not have a problem, they are a good reasonable temperature to accommodate adults or children. Additionally, the pot wash sinks have plenty of hot water. My wife's comments for the ladies toilets and showers was that she was well impressed with not a cobweb to be seen anywhere!
The site itself is impeccable, you will not find any litter or anywhere untidy. Alan and Pat really do make a fantastic job of making the site so inviting and attractive. With not having any children with us I only had one walk around the children's play area and also the dog walking bit and I found it clean, tidy and would have no hesitation in letting any child or grandchild of mine onto the play area.
My biggest gripe of the site is that the nearest shop to buy anything is a 3 or 4 minute drive away from the site - a NISA store adjacent to a petrol station. The other store is a reasonably large Coop store a further mile or so away from the site, it's just on the outskirts of Shrewsbury and adjacent to the towns 'park and ride' scheme (which I would encourage anyone to use).
There isn't much more to add - other than the site has a good TV signal, Wi fi is non existant but you want a wonderful pleasant site reasonably close to Blist Hill Victorian Town, Iron bridge Gorge attractions or a site just to quietly while away some warm quiet days then go and meet Alan and Pat at Cartref

A very well kept small site, pitches large and level, water taps close by. 2 washing up sinks covered, plenty of hot water, toilets kept spotlessly clean. Friendly and helpful owners.
There is an information cabin for local interests.
Some road noise could be heard at times but this was taken away by black birds (many of them) singing chirping away till late evening
If you are going into Shrewsbury use the park and ride, cheap and easy to use.
All in all a very nice site.

We were looking for somewhere fairly local to make a quick weekend getaway, so after reading all the reviews on this website, this campsite ticked all the boxes.
I phoned up and spoke to the owner, Alan who was very friendly and got us two pitches together. We were a little later arriving than we thought, so again on the day of our arrival I phoned and spoke to Alan who reassured us that it was no problem and that he'd be there when we arrived.
The site is very easy to get to using a sat-nav (and only 45 minutes from home!) on arrival Alan was as good as his word and was waiting for us, we were shown to our pitches and shown where all the facilities were, before the rain came down.
The pitches are all self contained with hedges to separate you from your neighbours, it is a fairly small site with possibly only about 8 pitches for tents, but I have to say what a lovely site it is, small is very definitely beautiful!
If you get a clear sky at night spend a few minutes looking up, an amazing starry sky.
The toilet block is very clean, plenty of hot water for the showers and no tokens or meters required.
The owners obviously put a lot of hard work into this site and it tells, it is a little gem.
There is plenty to do and see with some good walks nearby.
We will definitely return

A lovely clean well cared for site, which is a credit to its owners Pat and Alan. Pitches are large and mostly hard standing, with about half a dozen grass pitches. If on a grass pitch, you may find you have to site yourself to one side of the pitch due to allowing the grass to recover from the previous visitor. However, each pitch is divided by hedges so if you do end up near the side, you don't feel like you are on top of the pitch next door. Pitches are well mowed (where there is grass) and the ground is soft enough for any type of peg (on the grass). There is a strict 11pm quiet time, which was adhered to, often well before then.
The facilities are kept clean and the showers/toilets are very good. There is a mop available for cleaning the shower after you, which always helps with keeping things tidy. There were 3 showers, 3 toilets and 2 private washing sinks in the ladies (similar in the mens apparently). There is a hair dryer in the ladies, not very powerful, but it is free and does the job. The showers are push button, and plenty high enough (they don't adjust up and down). They are very powerful, though do drop in pressure a bit if someone else is showering or using a tap. Whilst they were hot, for us we found them not quite hot enough. Though we realise you can't please all the people all the time. There is a small shower tray to hold your shower stuff, perfect for little bottles. Two washing up sinks (didn't use them so cannot comment on them). There are two grey waste and two fresh water taps, as well as a chemical waste disposal. The site was not full whilst we were there, and we never had to queue for a shower. Towards the weekend the site started to fill up, (though still not completely full), and the shower block was noticeably busier. Still no queues, but all the showers/sinks and toilets in use at once, which they hadn't been all week.
There is a large field for walking dogs around, which has a children's play area (for young kids) and football nets. The grass on the path around the field and the play area is kept short. Children are not allowed to ride around the park, and the few that were there when were were seemed happy to play in the field, which means the campsite stays lovely and quiet.
There is loads to do all within 30 mins of the site. We visited Ironbridge (expensive but well worth it). We parked in the museum car parks, and once you had paid you could use the ticket across all the sites. We also visited RAF Cosford, took a boat trip in Shrewsbury, and walked through the park. (We parked at the Frankwell long stay car park, £2. 70 for 3 hrs). Walked along the Shropshire Union Canal & went to Lake Vyrnyw. There is an information hut with loads of leaflets. Though I thoroughly recommend having a chat with Alan or Pat about places to visit. They have so much information they can give you, especially about places to go that cost you very little or are free. As well as all those little tips like places to park for free, that you'd never find out otherwise.
If you head out of the site towards the B458 and follow that road towards Shrewsbury, you will find a co-op in front of the park and ride. There is also a fish and chip shop there, which we used one night. The portions were generous and tasty. Everything was cooked fresh for us. There is a Chinese next door, but we didn't use that so cannot comment on what it is like. All the big supermarkets are near by. We used Sainsbury's on the Meole Brace retail park.
Overall this site is excellent and we would recommend a visit. We will revisit if coming to the area again.

I have recently returned from Cartref, after a two night stay with our grandchildren. As a regular Caravan Club customer, I found this site compared in all aspects to Club Sites.
It was nice to be greeted with a hand shake and a friendly welcome, I was given as much help as needed to set up the rig, and informed as to where the amenities were located.
Toilet and shower block very clean and tidy, the grounds and gardens were exceptional.
I would highly recommend this site, and will return should I need to visit the Shrewsbury area again

Cartref – Shrewsbury
The site is well signposted from the B4386.
It is a lovely site with well kept grounds. There is a mix of hard standing and grass pitches.
There are plenty of facilities that are modern and very clean. The showers are push button and hot water is plentiful. The laundry has a washing machine, but hand washing had to be done in the washing up sinks.
There is a small children’s' play area in the the dog walking field, which is very large.
It is quiet site and Alan and Pat, the owners, were very helpful.
We paid £15. 75 for caravan, 2 adults and electricity in mid July.
There is no Wi Fi on site and mobile phone reception is patchy.
An excellent site which is very good value for money.

I have just returned (2 hours ago) from my first ever trip in my new to me caravan. And simply put, I could not have chosen a better place to go for my first outing.
I arrived with my daughter, and the owner, Alan I believe, met me and directed me to my pitch. He then, very skilfully, talked me through my first reversing with the van, which was achieved very easily and without any swearing or sweating!
I then set everything up, only to discover that I had a dead battery! Alan tried everything to help me out, but short of buying a new one, it was not to be. I still had power in my sockets and he kindly loaned me some extra freezer blocks to keep everything cool in the fridge.
My daughter set off to explore whilst I finished off, and discovered the play area, this perhaps could be improved on a little, but there was also a nice big field for children to play games on, which also doubles as a dog walk.
The toilet and shower block was immaculate, and the little touches of flowers were very pretty. There was a hairdryer, not a powerful one, but enough to do the job. Attached to the block was a laundry room which I didn't have occasion to use, a freezer for ice blocks, and washing up facilities
On site there was also a little hut with plenty of tourist information, and each day the owner put up a board with the weather forecast and tourist 'hot spots' for the day ie; markets on that day, good places to visit etc.
I would thoroughly recommend this site, and will definitely be back!

Another great time spent at this great campsite. A warm welcome from Alan and Pat who remembered us from last year, after a quick catch up we put up the tent and chilled out for 4 days. The campsite, showers and washing up facilities as expected from last year 10/10.
Shrewsbury is a lovely town to walk around with lots of shops, cafes and The Quarry park and river side great places to picnic. Unfortunately we couldn't get tickets for the river cruise to hear Jools Holland playing in the Quarry, but as the heavens opened Saturday night maybe it wasn't a bad thing after all.
We can recommend Ellesmere town and lakes for a afternoon out, we were lucky to be there when they had a music festival on in the market hall and we were treated to some great local bands playing jazz and skiffle music very entertaining.
There is so much to do in this area you could do something different every day for month.
We look forward to returning next year.

As this was our first booking in our newly bought secondhand little caravan, my parents who have been caravanning for over thirty years recommended this site to us for our first time out. What a lovely, spotless and friendly site. The toilet/shower facilities were immaculate. The dog walking field is more like a wild meadow, although your not aloud to let your pooch run free. This did not matter at all. We pitched in the adult only section, we wanted our first experience to be perfect, and it was.
The access to the site is good with no tight spots at all and is well signed from the Shrewsbury to Welshpool road. The owners Pat and Alan welcomed us onto the site guided us to our pitch and then Alan unhooked the van for us, he gave us the weather forecast for our two night stay (which was spot on) and explained all the ins and outs of camping life, very helpful and thank you. As this site is nicely situated from our house (about an hour) we will be returning for more weekends away.
Shrewsbury centre is about 6 miles away with plenty of things to do and see. The area as a whole has lots to offer.
