Fantastic little site. I agree with the theme running through this message board. Extremely welcoming and friendly staff. We were also pitched beside the information booth, but had no problem with people passing.
Site very reasonably priced, and I cannot understand any negative comment about what is a very minor road. I would not suggest anyone should be put off by the passing traffic as it is negligible.
We were asked not to use our groundsheet as we were staying for 5 nights, but this was no issue as the ground was dry and flat.
The showers and toilet area were absolutely spotless and plenty of facilities so you didn't need to worry about a queue! There is a small play area that has been prepared for the kids, with a small football pitch. We would certainly be happy to return here.

What a lovely clean and tidy little site, prettily landscaped. My daughters gave the shower/toilet block a 100% pass within 5 minutes of arrival.I must say I agree it was spotless, even flowers and plants in the ladies.
I never had to wait for a shower, which was always piping hot and free. The site was well laid out with large pitches hedged around. The owners were friendly and more than helpful.
We had no problem with the road, even though the farmers were busy with silaging. The information hut was very useful and we found places to eat and visit. We will certainly stay here again if we are in the area, and would recommend to friends.

We spent three nights here & really enjoyed it, I wont go on about the site just to echo other peoples comments, it is excellent value, clean, quiet & friendly, an all round well kept nice place, & good base for visiting Shrewsbury which is a very pretty town with loads of history (black & white buildings a castle etc) & a nice river running through it where you can have a short but pleasant boat ride. Also we visited Ironbridge & Blist Hill a Victorian town that I found very interesting & would recommend.
At present there are no shops or pubs close to the site but it looked like one pub about a mile away was being renovated.
The site owners were very nice people & showed us to our pitch, guided me onto it, levelled our caravan & unhooked it for me! They then made sure that we were happy with the pitch, showed us where everything was before leaving us to it, now that’s what I call service!

Just got back from this fantastic site. When we arrive we were greated and shown to our pitch, Alan then helped us to reverse in. (Nothing was to much trouble for this friendly couple)
The site is spotless as are the toilets and the showers (plenty of hot water). They have a little shed with leaflets about what to do and were to go in the area. We found this site great value for money.
We will definitely go back again

We paid our first visit to Cartref and we were more than impressed. We live around 1 hour's drive from Shrewsbury and although we never saw Pat, we were very warmly welcomed by Alan.
The showers and toilets were spotless and the area was quiet and peaceful, broken only by the sound of birds and the occasional car. The site at present holds 35 pitches with electric hook up, for £12.50 per night is excellent value and we believe Alan and Pat may be extending their site.
Shrewsbury (the town) is round about 5 miles from the site in Ford Heath and well worth visiting. The nearby Ironbridge and Blists Hill Victorian Town is well worth a visit and the latter will appeal to all from 8 to 88.
We also took a boat trip along the River Severn and visited the park in which the annual Shrewsbury Flower Show takes place. We'll definitely be going back.

Just arrived home from a very relaxing week at Cartref. I find it difficult to add further to what has already been said because the camp site is excellent.
The toilets and showers were spotless at any time of day and Pat and Alan were so helpful giving directions and advice to some wonderful beauty spots.
As Alan told us, most places are within a 45 minute drive from the campsite, with the exception of Shrewsbury just 10 minutes away, lovely countryside and good roads for driving. Nearest shop is a Co-op 5 minutes drive, but Shrewsbury also has an Asda, Sainsbury, Tesco just outside town and excellent shopping in the centre.
Alan goes out of his way to greet everyone on arrival and always helps caravanners to reverse into the very generous sized pitches. Someone mentioned the road was noisy - the only thing to wake us in the morning were birds. We'll definitely go back.

Great little site, top marks for owners for keeping the site so tidy.A joy to arrive with such welcome, advised were to pitch and layout of the site.
Good sized pitches with hedging planted between pitches giving a bit of privacy. Good area to visit shrewsbury, telford and the shropshire and welsh countryside. Will return soon as and when a pitch is available

We have just returned from another long weekend camping at Cartref.
The owners, Alan & Pat, must be applauded for all their hardwork on the site which is always immaculately kept. The toilet block is spotless with plenty of hot water and lots of nice touches which make you feel at home. There are also excellent dish washing facilities, again with plenty of hot water.
Children have lots of space to play in an adjacent field and, although the site was busy with both couples and families, all was quiet after about 10.30 pm.
Alan & Pat have provided a small shed which acts as a tourist information point and they are always happy to point you in the right direction and nothing is ever too much trouble.
We will certainly be going back.

Just returned from a superb weekend at this lovely little camp site. We got the only pitch left and are so pleased we did.
The site is spotless and the facilities are too. Alan and Pat were very helpful when I arrived and were very attentive to all new arrivals.
We were near the 'busy' road mentioned previously but did not notice any excess of traffic though it was the weekend but I can't imagine it having too much traffic on it even during the week. However, this is such an excellent site, we would certainly be prepared to put up with the disruption for a short time.
We have already booked our return a month from now and the site was looking fairly well booked. Book well in advance if you want to take advantage of this cheap but excellent site.

Do not know what on earth Dave41uk is talking about! We stayed here for 8 nights and yes, early evening and sometimes in the morning the lane (can hardly call it a road) is busy - obviously due to the fact that it makes an ideal local rat run - but would hardly say that it would ruin a stay here
Facility block is FAB, owners are FAB (just a word of warning - they do have a black list pinned near the phone of people that they won't accept again - the husband told my husband)
Lovely large pitches, our only downside was we were pitched at the side of the walkway to the information shed & recycling and you would think that some people have not seen a tent before! They also have a policy of requesting that you lift your groundsheet if staying for a certain length of time - something that we never managed due to the weather and even if it had been totally calm would not really have achieved much as we have a zip-in groundsheet and would only been able to have uncovered the front 3rd. All that said - this is a great little site in a good location for touring the boarders with Wales & Ironbridge etc.
We will be returning at some future date.
