Been to this wonderful site four times now and we have never been disappointed. The owners are lovely. So helpful. They are caravanners too and it shows in their site.
Everything is immaculately maintained. Very spacious pitches. Nice landscaping and a fantastic children's play area which is perfectly situated on the site.
The children are heard but not seen. Our son who is 10 loves it here and always makes friends. The toilets and showers are great. Very clean. Showers are spacious and temp perfect.
There is an information 'shed' which even gives you the weather forecast for the days ahead. Their is an adults only section but we have never stopped on that part.
Highly recommended.

WOW ! What a fabulous site and great wardens.
The toilet blocks, washing up facilities etc were spotless throughout the whole of our 10 day stay. Despite having rained the whole time, except for 2 days, everything was immaculate ! Nice private pitches with beech hedges to either side, plus hard standing and grass areas. Drainage in the main field was really good, although the newer, adults only area had a couple of 'flooded areas'. Having said this, the warden very promptly offered to move and tow the caravans to a different pitch.
Grounds and flower beds were well looked after, and in a separate field was the dog walk around the perimeter, with a well designed play area in the middle.
The country location of Cartref meant the only occasional noises heard was that of some cows(in a field down the lane) and an assortment of birds. Bliss !
There was an abundance of local information in the 'shed' as well as very helpful and knowledgeable advice and info from Pat and Alan. Also a nice touch, was the wipe board that was updated daily with the local weather details and ideas for days out etc.
Recycling facilities available.
We would thoroughly recommend Cartref (and Pat and Alan, the owners/wardens)to everyone and would definitely return if we decide to revisit the beautiful Shropshire area !
(Our one and only tiny gripe (due to the horrendous weather !) was the need to remove and replace a large cone in the entrance to the site. )

Just spent a wonderful weekend at this lovely campsite. Arrived on the friday and Alan the warden directed us to our pitch, unhooked our caravan for us and give us all the info we needed. WHAT A WELCOME!
The site is very well kept and the shower block is kept imaculate. We were sited next to the road but didn't hear hardly any traffic. Ideal caravan site for a quiet weekend away.
Shrewsbury is a really nice old town to visit and the park and ride is a bargain at £1. 60 per adult, it is about 5 mile from campsite.
All of this for £14 a night, compared to other local site this is an absolute bargain, we are going to use this as our favourite get away site.
Thankyou Cartref for a great stay

We have just spent a wonderful Jubilee weekend at this peaceful, immaculate site. The pitches were spacious, the toilet block and washing-up facilities pristine and the welcome very warm. Although the site was fully booked, we never had to wait for showers or toilets.
There was no late night noise, and our 4 year old Grandson loved the play area. This site is situated in the middle of fields, but is centrally located for tourist attractions and is only 10 minutes drive from the centre of Shrewsbury. The local Park and Ride is 5 minutes drive away, which is right next to a supermarket.
This is a perfect site for wildlife fans and those looking for a relaxing holiday. However, if you want pubs, clubs, wi-fi or large commercial sites, we are very happy to tell you that this is not the site for you! We are booked to go back for 2 weeks in the summer!

Just arrived back from Cartref, it was the jubilee weekend and it was the first time that I had tried this site and I can say it will not be the last,
The owner is always there if you want to ask any questions or help with anything,
The toilet block is second to none it has got to be the cleanest toilets that I have been into in years
I was on hard standing and the grass and plants are kept in 1st class condition,
I could only give this site 100% for everything and look forward to visiting again

WOW what a fantastic site. This was our first time camping and we couldn't have asked for a better experience.
The weather wasn't great but we still enjoyed ourselves. The separate field for walking the dogs and the kids play area were excellent and the fact that people observed the site rules made for a stress free time for our elderly Jack Russell.
The owners couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating, they offered us matting to use due to the severe rain on the Friday night.
The shower block was immaculate and I love the bucket and mop left there for everyone to use, and they did in the main.
The location meant little light pollution or noise, so we were able to relax totally.

This is a really good site, near to a busy road but not a lot of noise unless you choose to park adjacent to the road near the hedge. Both wardens are very helpful and friendly. Very good clean toilets and showers. Washing up facilities among the best we have seen. A good information room with discounts offered out of peak season.
Our pitch did flood a little in heavy rain , but soon drained again. Shrewsbury is a super town with lots of history. Good shops and cafes and nice walks along the river, But you must visit the Iron bridge, go round the museums and the old village of Bliss Hill. Good pubs abound with carveries. Lots to see and do and lovely countryside. We will return if we can get back in.

Just been back to Cartref after a couple of years.
Since our last visit the owners have obviously invested a lot of time, hard work and money improving and enlarging the site. But one thing has not changed (and we hope it never will): they can't do enough to help and they keep the site spotless, they are always on hand to give advice, help or just have a friendly chat. One thing that they have added since our last visit is an Adults only area but the site is still very child friendly with a play area and also more important to us a large dog exercise area, being dog owners themselves Alan and Pat also welcome dogs on their site!

A very pleasant site. Cartref is just off a minor road. The access into the site is good. It's a quiet rural site. We had a well drained hard standing. There are grass pitches and an adults only area.
The site has a good toilet block with 3 showers and 2 wash hand basins. There is a washing up point. Recycling and waste facilities were all to hand. The information shed was very good for the size of site and came up trumps when we needed the number for a g. P.
The owners are lovely and very knowledgeable about the local area. They put a weather forecast up each day and brought Easter eggs round for the children on Easter Sunday. They do go the extra mile.
The site is about 15 mins from Shrewsbury town centre. The park and ride is a bit slower but good value. There is a well-stocked garage/shop less than 5 mins away.
The site has a playing field with swings and see-saw. Children were not allowed to ride their bikes except in the field which was a bit of a shame but the children were very occupied making new friends in the play area so definitely didn't miss out.
The site is about 20 mins from Attingham Park (National Trust property), Wroxeter Roman ruins and about 30 mins from Ironbridge.

Spent 4 nights on this lovely campsite, myself, 2 x 13 year olds and 2 dogs. We had a level hardstanding pitch with plenty of space, nicely hedged with hook up and water close by.
Friendly owners, nothing was too much trouble. They've made major improvements during the last 7 years they've been there, being caravanners themselves they have an excellent idea of what we want from a campsite.
There's a good sized field for playing games and walking the dog. Heated toilet block with very clean facilities, mop and bucket provided to mop the shower cubicle when you're done, cloths to wipe down the sinks. Site is next to a country lane which is reasonably quiet so no problem with road noise.
Plenty to do in the area. We went to Wroxeter Roman City, Hawkestone Park Follies, Haughmond Abbey and Attingham Park. The site has an information hut with loads of leaflets etc and a board to let you know what's on and what the weather's doing.
There seems to be lots of repeat customers which says a lot about how good a site is. I would certainly return if we want a pitch in the area again.
