Well what can I say, this is such a lovely site tucked away from the main A5 down country lanes in rural peace and quiet.
The site itself is beautiful with individual hard standing plots bordered with bushes and grass. Each plot has the option of being fully serviced or basic. We had a fully serviced plot in the Adults only field and found it spacious and peaceful with no children running around between caravans. This suited us to the ground although children are catered for with what looked like a good play area in the middle of the dog walking field. The owners of the site could not be more friendly or helpful in not only showing us where our pitch was but also helping us to push our caravan into place. Anything we forgot such as matches for the stove they seemed to have in the little on site shop. The toilet and shower facilities were always spotlessly clean. The site also has the benefit of security gate which automatically locks at 11pm and reopens at 8am so there is no chance of people coming back and waking everyone up in the early hours of the morning. This site was a real find, close to main attractions such as Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth, Oswestry and Wales. I was really recommend this site for a short break or weeks holiday if you want to get away from it all in beautiful surroundings. I will be back!

We had a fabulous 5 days here. The site has to be one of the best kept we have ever been on. The owner is constantly working on the site and he has plans to develop it further. Very welcoming and friendly. Clean toilets and showers and a nice little shop. Lots of lovely walks nearby. Adult only area for extra peace and quiet. A gem of a site we will be back.

We have just returned from a weeks holiday at Cartref caravan site and would like to say a big thank you to Chris and Katrina for all their help during our stay. We had a few teething problems with our van and they were ever so helpful in stopping us stressing out. They are very friendly and knowledgable about the surrounding areas, The site is spotless and very well maintained and will have no hesitation in retuening

We spent a few days here last year with our daughter, son-in-law and 22 month old granddaughter. What an absolute delight it was, tucked away in the heart of beautiful countryside, but close to Shrewsbury. Telford, Llangollen and Powys are also within easy distance. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly, and the facilities were all spotlessly clean. The pitches were a good size and well laid out, and the whole site was beautifully maintained. No negatives, just a superb quiet, peaceful site.

What an absolutely fantastic site, owners very friendly and helpful, site is kept clean and tidy, a separate field for the children to play on so they arnt running around the tents, our son loved the field, small park and football nets, we couldn't find fault with anything and loved it so much we booked to go back before we left.

Cartref is quite simply the best campsite we have stayed at in our ten years since returning to camping.
All facilities are excellent & spotlessly clean. The toilet block is very well designed with plenty of hooks to hang clothing & wash bags on and a hairdryer in the Ladies block. Showers are powerful and warm with plenty of room in the cubicle for changing.
All pitches are large and on individually hedged plots, making them private.
The site layout is as in a large formal garden setting, this is very pleasing on the eye and ensures plenty of space between pitches for privacy and quietness.
The owners are friendly and always very willing to help in any way they can ie offering advice on the local area, baking bread & selling eggs from their own hens (delicious!).
Cartref is ideally situated for visiting the many attractions in Shropshire and Mid Wales, it is a destination that, for us, is top of our camping list.

Just returned from a 4 night stay at this fab little site. From the moment we arrived to the time we left, Chris and Katrina could not have done more for us if they tried! On arrival Chris showed us to our pitch and offered to help guide us in. Husband very competent at reversing so he left us to it but returned half an hour later to show us around the site. The standard pitch was boarded by well kept hedges (as are all the pitches). They are generous enough to have the awning comfortably on the gravel plus well tended grass to sunbathe on. There's a toilet block with 3 showers with free hot water, although the on/off tap goes off a little quickly. We had our older boys with us and there is a 4 acre field for them to let off steam plus a small football pitch and park. The chickens on site lay some lovely eggs for purchase and Katrina makes a mean sough dough loaf that she will deliver to your door ready for breakfast!
Boys being boys, they did get a little over excited at times but Chris was very fair and respectful to them and had a lovely approach to the children, unlike some sites we have been to where the wardens are hiding in bushes ready to shout at them the minute they step out of line.
Off site, you do need a car really as everything is a drive away. We spent most of our visits in Telford and purchased an annual pass for the iron bridge museums. Worked out a lot cheaper as it allows entry into 10 museums for only £68 for a family of 5.
Leaving time is midday but we stayed on til 6pm at only £1 for every hour over 12 noon. We feel fully relaxed and are so happy we found this little gem. It cost us £22 a night! Bargain! Will definitely be returning.

Just returned from a wonderful relaxing break at Cartref. This campsite is everything that we look for in a campsite; peaceful, relaxing, spotlessly clean facilities, beautifully landscaped and very friendly. Katrina and her husband are a lovely couple who went out of their way to ensure we had an enjoyable, hassle free stay. It was an added bonus for us that they have a separate adults only area. The larder shop stocked some beautiful locally sourced produce - their sausages were delicious and very good value. Great dog walking area and enjoyed watching their lovely chickens who all came running towards us every time we passed by. They tell us they have lots of lovely plans for the campsite in the future. Although we hope you don't get too popular as we love the peaceful atmosphere that the campsite retains! Thank you for a great weekend 😀

Little gem of a site, immaculately kept, toilet blocks really clean and well heated, pitches are separated with small hedges for privacy. We liked this site so much we booked before we left for the following weekend. Chris is great with the kids! Shrewsbury is about a 10 minute drive away and loads to do there! Overall a Nice quiet site for a relaxing weekend.

What a gem, we really loved this site. It's located in the countryside just a short drive from Shrewsbury.
The owners are very friendly, the site is well kept and the toilet block is spotless.
There is a small playpark for the children and a very nice dog walk.
In all, this is a 10 out of 10 site that we'll be returning to.
