What a find! For such a small site (35 units) the facilities are exceptional - free showers, hair dryer, wash basins in privacy cubicles and fresh flowers in the ladies block (which is spotlessly clean). There is a separate play area for the kids, barbeques are allowed. Even the dog walk is a joy! The owners, Pat and Alan, are the friendliest we have met in a long time and couldn't have been more helpful. Pat took us to the field and told us which was the most level, best drained pitch, thus avoiding the eternal "I think we should pitch here" row. Both she and Alan were a fount of local knowledge, pointing us in the right direction for things we wanted to see and even lending us a map book with our route planned on it. We will definitely be going back soon!

We stayed at this very pretty and peaceful camp site in May 2007. Unfortunately we were only able to stay for two nights as the site was full for Bank holiday weekend. However, we had a wonderful time whilst we were there. When we arrived in the morning, Alan helped us to set the caravan in place and stayed for a chat. The campsite has a new block for the toilets and showers, both of which were kept immaculate. There were fresh flowers in the ladies toilets which gave the place a really pretty look. The tv reception was first class. Pat and Alan were never too busy to stop for a chat and to ask whether there was anything we needed. Rest assured we will be back as soon as possible and Alan has promised to get me some little old gloucester spot piglets and white ducks before I come ! :-)

Cannot stay away.Pat and Alan as welcoming, friendly, and helpful as always.Facilities spotless despite days of heavy rain before and during our stay.Tried the local Hare and Hounds this time.GOOD. Also found a Coop Supermarket,a Chippy,a Chinese Takeaway, and a Hungry Horse Pub all together 10 Min's away. This site guarantees peace, quiet, and relaxation.

Visited this site as a 3rd choice, it definitely should be 1st choice. Pat and Alan were so friendly and welcoming without being overbearing. Facilities are the best we have been to, spotless whatever time of day you went. Everything has been thought of - hooks for a tea towel, a shelf to put the washing up bowl on, etc. We visited with a dog and our 9 year son, both were well accommodated for. An excellent dog walk and what more could our son ask for than a football pitch with goal posts! However this facility was in a different field and I felt relaxed in knowing he could play as a child should without affecting other campers. Excellent area for site seeing, many places to visit. We will be returning and definitely highly recommend you book.

We try to 'suss out' sites before booking but based on the reviews we decided to try this one for 3 nights without seeing it first , VERY GLAD WE DID! Pat and Alan, the friendly owners were always on hand to give advice, help or information whenever needed. Alan met us at the gate to help us set up.Little help was needed. Small site it may be but all the pitches are not just well laid out, they are very large
An ultra modern amenities block kept spotless at all times, with hot taps which supply hot water, clearly marked well positioned user friendly utilities and almost total peace and quiet. It's no wonder the 3 nights became 6. Unfortunately we had to leave but we booked another 8 before we did.
The thermostatically controlled Power sprays installed here are the business.

Excellent site and very friendly owners, really helpful. Toilets and showers are so clean and well maintained. Lovely separate playing field for kids. We were so impressed we've already booked with them again for October. If I had to have a gripe, I'd like a slightly wider entrance to swing the van in and out of, having said that, the road is very quiet allowing you to 'go wide' going in and out. Highly recommended!

What can we say lovely site, lovely people one of the best sites we have been to if not the best. Arrived for the Easter weekend to be met by Alan and Pat who are the most helpful and friendliest site owners we have met .Nothing is to much trouble. The site was full being Easter weekend but we didn't have to queue for showers or toilets at all as for the showers and toilets they are in a new building and kept very clean at all times.our little boy(6) loved this site as they have a big adjoining field were he was safe and played most of the weekend with no disruption to any other campers(and loved it even more when Pat came round giving the kids Easter eggs on sunday morning) would recommend this site to anyone and we will be visiting again very shortly. PS the site is ideally located for exploring Shropshire and Ludlow is well worth a visit.

I visited this site in September 2005 and found it to be an extremely pleasant site with spotless facilities and very friendly owners Pat & Alan. I returned again 8 - 10 September 2006 and was amazed at all the improvements to an already well kept site. EHU's now available to all pitches, a beautiful well maintained garden to enjoy, absolutely delightful new amenities block with heating and no extra cost for the showers and hot water, well looked after and spotlessly clean with fresh flowers adding a lovely feminine touch to the ladies' facilities. This is a site that should be given very high ratings for it's warm friendly family atmosphere and owners who know what campers are looking for. Very reasonably priced with no price changes according to season and owners who are not only friendly and very helpful but also put up a daily notice with regard to the weather forecast and what's on locally but also maintain a very useful information hut with loads of information about attractions in and around the area. Well done Pat & Alan - We will certainly be back!

What a lovely site. It is beautifully maintained by Pat and Alan. The loos and shower block were spotlessly clean and warm. There is a lovely landscaped area in the centre of the site and a big field next door for children to play in. The little hut on the site was packed with information on places to visit - plus books and magazines from previous guests. We will definitely visit Cartref again.

From all the sites we have been to in the last 2 years this one rates the best. Alan and Pat who own the site were absolutely lovely and made us very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. They have a little shed with lots of local information in on places to go, eat and local shops etc. The children loved the small play area and there is a large field for ball games. The Toilet/shower block was spotless and cleaned on a regular basis, we could not fault a thing! Unfortunately we had only planned a long weekend and by the end we were wishing we had planned to stay longer, the site is so lovely and there is so much to do in the area. We look forward to returning in the future
