We stayed here over May bank holiday 2013 and loved it, really nice atmosphere and a great weekend.
The Good: Spacious pitches, brilliant location, really good value for money, good customer service. Plenty of showers and sinks (the site was full and we didn't have to queue much)
The not so good: Not much really, but although the site overlooks the beach, it's a bit of a walk to get to it. My girlfriend didn't think the showers were clearly marked enough but I didn't agree. Also some pitches (ours included) are quite near the main road so a passing motorbike can wake you momentarily at 2am.
If you go, make sure you head to the hill at the rear of the site for sunset. A few people normally congregate there around this time and whilst I'm not normally that taken with sunsets it's pretty spectacular. Best enjoyed with a cold beer. Also Cromer is about a 50 minute walk away along the beach if you head to East Runton village and follow the road to the beach from there but we preferred to head to West Runton (turn left at the cliff edge and follow it for 15 minutes or so)to make the walk a bit longer. On a sunny day it's absolute bliss.
One of the things we like about Norfolk is its less crowded and less expensive than Devon/Cornwall and this place is no exception.
We'll be back!

We have just returned from a week's stay here over the May half term. The campsite is in a fantastic location on the cliffs - unfortunately it was quite a windy week but it was worth it for the sunsets which are to die for.
The striking thing about the campsite was how quiet it was from about 10pm when most people had settled for the night and no early morning noise either.
We opted for a premium pitch after reading the reviews here suggesting we would be better away from the road noise. Although there was plenty of space the site was on a slope which made it uncomfortable sleeping and the contents of our tent invariably slid to the bottom. We were disappointed with this as we hadn't been warned and would probably have stuck with a standard pitch had we known. I think there are some level premium pitches so it might be worth asking if you are thinking of upgrading.
The showers and toilets were adequate but generally pretty cool in the mornings and each cubicle opened directly to outside so made for a slightly uncomfortable start to the day as the weather was cool. I'm sure they are fine if you get good summer weather.
The kids loved the playground which was immaculate and well laid out. We didn't use the shop much but stocked sweets which pleased the children!
It is easy to walk along to Cromer and saves the hassle of parking and we had a nice pub meal in The Village in West Runton with lots of space if you are in a bigger party.
Although we enjoyed our stay we would probably look to stay elsewhere next time we visit the area

Stayed in Woodhill 29th and 30th April 2013, The staff are friendly, very welcoming and have an excellent customer service approach.
The site is very clean, well laid out and pitches are well marked. Fresh water points with waste water and rubbish bins are well sited. We found the toilets and showers excellent, very clean, and lots of hot water. The site is well placed and a walk to East Runton will give you access to the beach and a good walk to Cromer and back. Sheringham is 5 minutes by car the other direction and is well worth a visit.
Would we stay here again, absolutely, it is a great site to spend a few days to explore the area.

We had asked for large serviced pitches and got exactly what we asked for right by all the facilities, toilet block and shop etc.
There were plenty of toilets and although the site busy as bank holiday weekend and half term, we had to wait occasionally for a shower but this was not really an issue. There was also a number of sinks in cubicles if you wanted a wash in private, nice idea. They were not spotless but with the amount of users it wasn't 'dirty' and I saw the cleaners a number of times coming in and out checking toilet paper etc.
The shop was well stocked and the free range eggs were gorgeous and reasonably priced, I also had to purchase gloves for the family (typical British weather) and these were reasonable too.
The site is large and the large play area for the children was great, we walked along the cliff tops into west runton beach which was lovely and Cromer was a 5/10 minute drive, which is also lovely - we have visited many times.
My only criticism, is the lack of any sort of flexibility with check out, we had to have our pitch clear by 10. 30am which I think is a little early, and when I asked if we could stay on later if they didn't have anyone coming on, they didn't check they just said point blank 'no it is a strict 10. 30 leave time' - very minor but having had flexibility on other smaller sites I found this a bit impersonal. Having said this it would not stop me using again.
We had a lovely time and would use again.

My partner (41) and I (30) have just returned from our visit to cromer, norfolk. We stayed for three nights on this caravan and camping site. We cannot praise the site enough, its staff, facilities, location and visitors were all fantastic and made our break what it was.
The site was constantly clean and we retired each night to peace and quiet despite the site being booked to capacity, the pitches were good sizes (we had a standard serviced pitch, larger are available). The showers and family bathrooms were spotless each time we used them. Staff on reception and in the shop were very helpful and did their utmost to answer any queries we had.
The on site park, mini golf, wildlife area, table and court tennis will be great and much used when we definitely return next year with our children, 10/10 I would recommend to any one!

What a lovely site
We booked a extra large pitch with electric and it was huge
The site is quite large but was very quiet
The shop was well stocked and was not too overly priced like a lot of places we have visited.
The toilets given the size of the site were kept very clean
The site is well placed for cromer and sherringham and the rest of norfolk. Easy access to the beach, two minutes in the car or a mile walk along the cliff top or if you are feeling very brave/insane there was a direct path down the cliff face (not for the faint hearted)
Two very nice pubs in east runton and a very nice chippy (expect to queue!). The greek restaurant is also worth a visit as well.
There is plenty for the kids with a large play park and a massive field to burn off excess energy, also table tennis, giant chess, draughts and crazy golf, although there is a small charge for some of these. The campsite also puts on activity's for the kids with evening moth walks, to birds of prey displays. I found the rock pooling / archaeology trip great fun and very interesting.
The only negative points I could come up with was the 10am check out as my tent wasn't fully dry when packing up, also if your pitch is at the side of the main road I could imagine that it could be a little noisy however this didn't affect us where we were pitched. Finally one small gripe was there were no real paths between pitches to the bins meaning some campers cut through pitches to get to bins/water points or face a lengthy walk round. These three negatives are just me nitt picking but I feel worth mentioning but overall this is a brilliant site and definitely worth a visit. We will certainly be returning.

Our first stay at woodhill, firstly I have to say this campsite was very nice, clean and the facilities in general were better than I expected. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the location was perfect. We had a large pitch with hook-up.
The only complaints I had were minor but did make a big difference to us having a long stay, At the time of booking we were told our pitch was near to the disabled facilities and even emailed a map to show us how close. This seemed fine, on arrival we pitched our tent and went to check them out only to find we had been placed near to the regular shower/toilet block. I'd recommend checking before pitching. It was busy being school holidays but on the whole quiet except for a few inconsiderate people.
The only other niggles would be the pitches not having a physical boundary so people (usually a lot at a time) cut through our pitch at all times of the day and night, this didn't stop after we had enclosed the pitch with windbreaks and they would walk straight through while you were sat having a BBQ, so we didn't like the lack of privacy, this would annoy our dog too, fortunately she doesn't tend to bite but you never know, constant worry isn't what you want on holiday.
If these minor things were rectified we probably would go back to woodhill. Oh the one other thing was all toilet blocks were closed for cleaning at the same time.
The shop stocked the essentials, the laundry room was good if a little expensive. And the sea view was superb. There is a good bus service (which takes dogs) running up and down the coast with the bus stop right at the entrance.
And with regards to the disabled shower room it was large with a toilet and basin, good for wheelchair users and the site was slightly sloping. If you do need these facilities I would suggest taking a radar key with you as you leave a deposit for a key and they only have so many on site and I'm not sure what they would do if they were all out.

Great campsite my new Norfolk hub when I next go. Toilets clean with shiny sinks and taps. Family shower rooms where good to. Great walks in surrounding towns and villages or regular bus from out side site.
The coast Road could be heard but this did not bother me as it was not very busy and I will sleep through anything. Great sunrise get up early walk to the beach find a rock to sit on and enjoy it also you can watch it set over the sea there too We sat on some straw bails with a cyder in the large playing field the had as the sun went behind the wash.
I could not fault this campsite may I could fault some campers that should know the unwritten rule of camping is not to walk through other peoples pitch and have the cheek to say morning when intruding on my groggy time with morning face, gruffly voice and everything. Maybe the campsite could asked guest to stay on the paths.
Overall great place will go back hopefully soon very well priced great helpful staff.

Well what can I say, Fantastic location, beautiful sunrise to the right of the sight, look left in the evening and fabulous sunsets, very quiet site,
Most campers tucked up by 10ish even on a really warm evening.
Dare the cliff fall to the beach, approx 5 mins, or the cliff walk to beach 15mins, Beach so safe, tide out there is rockpooling, but tide in, just pure sand, just right for sandcastles.
Shop has everything needed, just the down side they didn't open until 9 even in peak season, so I would drive into Sherringham about 3 miles to collect fresh bread and breakfast, both the bakers and butchers open at 6am approx,
The biggest complaint when talking to other was the late opening of the shop, this could cause a huge queue waiting, when driving out of the site I was with 3 or 4 other cars doing what I was, so please campsite wardens pick up on this!
Only needed to visit reception once and they were knowledgeable and helpful, Will book for a month next year!

Beautiful site, well located for beach, cliff top walk to a very good pub (village inn) at West Runton, brilliant site for kids with good play areas and brilliant dog walking field.
Toilets kept in good/clean condition. This was our second visit to the site and we will definitely be going back.
Only one thing I would change and that is the 10am time to vacate the pitch, should be an hour later as 10am does not give the tent time to fully dry out.
Other than that, I cannot fault this site.
