We have just returned from a two night break at Woodhill. We were in a motor-home and our friend in a tent with a dog.
The location was good, there was a nice walk to Sheringham and West Runton along the cliff top, and East Runton and Cromer were even closer in the other direction.
The site also were offering cycle hire at a very reasonable £10 per day. Although we didn't need to use it we did feel it was a good service at a good price.
We used the on site facilities, and they were always clean and plenty of hot water was available in the showers.
The shop was well stocked with food, drink ice creams and other camping items, all at a decent price.
We really didn't like the fact that there were no obvious walk ways through the site. We lost count of the amount of times that people walked right across our pitch. They didn't even attempt to keep to the side of our pitch, often they walked in between our outside living area and the motor-home. We don't have an awning so we had the tables and chairs set up 6 foot or so away from our MH door. We had children running across and parents walking through - not even batting an eyelid that we were sat outside eating, and they passed within a foot of where we were sat!
Although some of this can be attributed to bad camping etiquette, it was almost encouraged by the pitches literally being on top of each other with no walkways whatsoever. Other than the road - which I can understand parents not wanting their children to walk along, there wasn't really any other way for people to get about!
We were pitched on a serviced pitch and the pitch size was enormous. We did feel that they could afford to make the pitches a tad smaller but then be able to allow a proper walkway so people didn't have to walk right through your living space.
When we booked we were told that we would have a serviced pitch which included water, electric and drainage. When we arrived we were told this wasn't the case. We were not advised on arrival where the motor-home service point was, or even that there was one, so on our departure we spent a long time negotiating the tight area that we advised to use. Then when we found the chemical disposal point (we had to ask 3 different members of staff where this was) we saw a proper French style service point.
For my partner and I in the van, we found the site reasonable in price, considering we were there at peak time. My friend in the tent had to pay more than us per night, despite being in a small 2 man tent with no electric. She had to pay £3. 50 per night for her dog, which we found quite excessive really.
The site was quiet at night but we were woken both mornings at between 5 and 6 am by inconsiderate parents letting their children play loudly right outside our pitch, despite there being a large separate area for children to play, and numerous signs saying ball games not permitted near pitches.
Overall the site was ok for our requirements on this trip- ie location near to Cromer and Sheringham, and facilities for our friend in the tent. We wouldn't use the site again though, or recommend it to our friends, as we know of far superior sites in the area, that on this occasion we couldn't get onto because they were fully booked.

This was a lovely site to stay at. We stayed for 9 nights in a 5 man family tent (Hi Gear Mojave 5).
The pitches are of an adequate size and able to take our quite large tent (along with porch extension) and family car (7 seater).
The beaches are close by with just a short 10-15 minute walk to either East or West Runton.
The campsite is close to both Cromer and Sheringham. Both being an easy walk away.
The site is conveniently close to East Runston which has too great old pubs, both serving food. An excellent chip shop and Greek restaurant.
The shop on site opened and closed at inconvenient times for us, 9am-5pm which didn't help with my requirement for a bacon butty at 7 in the morning. There are shops close by in the villages but would have been nice for the shop to be open when we needed it.
There was no facility for freezing your own cooler packs. The only option was to purchase/rent packs from the shop.
Laundry tokens were charged at £4. Remember to take your own washing powder. The on-site shop only sells boxes and not individual sachets of powder so it can get expensive. The dryer only runs for 15 minutes and didn't get the wash very dry. The dryer is charged in addition to the washer.
Showers are free but there is no heat control and I found them to be too hot. I was not able to stand under the shower for more than a few seconds at a time.
The toilets and cleaning areas were very clean. Saw people walking around and cleaning them all through the day.
The site has a great adventure play area for the kids which also includes a small pitch and put and table tennis as well as having football nets. A safe place for the kids to go play. The shop sells table tennis kits. The one we bought had the rubber falling off. When we went back to the shop they said this was an issue that they knew about and gave us a new set and let us keep the faulty set as well.
The site puts on events for the kids such as falconry and rock pooling. The rock pooling was excellent with a very knowledgeable person guiding us and telling us what to look for and about the things that we had found.
We did have a couple of nights where there was a party of people camping and had an event tent where they stayed up talking well past midnight which kept us awake in an otherwise lovely and peaceful site. They left after a couple of days and peace was restored.

Awful site. Very uneven ground. No lighting. Easy to drive past, needs road sign.
Washing Facilities not clean and very few of them for such a large site. Would not recommend this site to anyone in fact I'd do the opposite.
The Beach nearby is nice is the only possible positive thing I could say. Not all of us have young children so an area set aside for adults only would be an improvement.
Didn't seem to have any security entering the site, anyone can just drive straight onto the site.

Although this is a clifftop site, it's impossible to see the sea through the bushes, the site itself is a bit squashed in and only 3 showers for the whole campsite and even then they were cold.
The site is relatively clean.
Luckily we were no where near the main A road and felt sorry for those that were! As the pitches there literally back onto the road.
Other than that the staff were friendly and I did enjoy my stay but I will only be returning as a last resort.

This site is in a great location. Close to a very safe beach with rockpools, stones and sand. Something for everyone!
However. Talk about squished on like sardines! I felt that this site had no character. Personal taste I suppose but I like a little bit of character at a campsite, trees, a view etc. All we could see was cars, tents and caravans. There was no view of the sea apart from up a hill, which does give great sunset views on a nice day.
Saying that. Great play area although a fair bit of litter by the end of the day. Falconry was good. My boys got to hold the little owl which they loved!
We used the laundry as we had been away for a couple of weeks already and have 2 scruffy boys! Got there at 9 in the morning and was able to get a machine. £4 though! ouch!
The other odd thing. Showers are in a separate block to everything else, even the hairdryer!
I don't think we will return.

Really liked the site. Well kept, clean and tidy. The family showers were lovely and hot with good pressure. The older block with showers were not so good, just a luke warm dribble really.
Good facilities on the site, shop, laundry. Location was good, close to Sherringham one way and Cromer the other.
The meadow walk was lovely. The pitch size I found generous. (we have quite a big tent).
It was quite windy and exposed on the site but I suppose you would expect that being on a cliff top close to the coast. I would return to this site and would recommend this site to others.

This large site is situated between a very busy road and the cliffs near East Runton. The plots are a nice size but the rows are close together giving a feeling of being on top of one and other.
You cannot get to the beach off of the site and have to walk along the cliff top towards West Runton approximately 1/2 mile or about the same in the other direction towards East Runton along side the road, there is a foot path. Once you get to East Runton you can walk into Cromer along the beach or along the road. Cromer is approximately 2 miles from the site. There are shops and public houses in East Runton, West Runton and Cromer.
There is a small shop on site that is quite well stocked. A very good play area for the children and the shower/toilet block near the reception was clean and tidy but it would have been better if you could adjust the water temperature on the shower as I found it a little hot.
For me personally I felt the site could have had a few less plots and then there could have been more walk ways between rows as people would rather walk between the plots than go to the end of their row and down the road, sometimes walking right past a window or door. Someone did walk into our open window and we were right in the middle of our plot. Also I was disappointed that there was not a better view.

We picked this site mainly because of its proximity to the coast. It's a quiet site (provided you are away from the road - worth checking when you book) and has good hot showers and toilets, although I did hear comments about cool water in the family block in the morning.
It slopes slightly in parts but we didn't find that a problem and many people were using the usual wheel levellers to deal with it.
There is a well-stocked shop, and the main shops are less than 2 miles away in Cromer and Sheringham. There are excellent sea views, but this can be a windy site (that's true of of a lot of coastal site though). Note that there is no direct access to the beach from the site.
The beaches all along this stretch of coast are anything from 10 to 40 metres or so down from the top of the cliff, and the nearest beach (West Runton) is a half-mile walk away. It can be accessed by road too from West Runton.
There is good step and ramp access to all of the beaches. If you like car boots there seemed to be one every day, almost, on the stretch of road between Cromer and Sheringham, and both towns have a good range of shops.

This site is in a lovely location; you can easily walk to nearby villages which makes pubs and some shops easily accessible. There is a bus stop outside and you can easily get onto the beach. There is lots to do nearby either within walking distance or a short drive away.
You can chose to walk to Cromer along the footpath or beach. Once there there are lots of restaurants and facilities including a decent size Morrisons supermarket. The local seafood is wonderful.
The cliff top location of the site means it is very exposed and the set up has done little to minimise this, i. E not many hedges or trees. In my opinion there needs to be more for this reason and the aesthetics, I didn't like the crammed in feel. The pitches are close together.
There is also the road issue. We backed on to the road which is very noisy, its the main coast road and an A road. However the alternative pitches away from the road looked more crammed and many backed onto each other.
The major issue for our pitch other than the noise was the fact it was totally impossible to place our caravan on it with a car given the layout! We were too close to the pitches in front to get any swing. The maintenance people were happy to pitch it for us with their equipment but this may cause inconvenience to others or they may not be available. We had to unhook and push it on by hand so that it was out of the way then wait for maintenance.
Perhaps they should tell people who book inaccessible pitches. We watched a poor man with a twin axle arrive and he was meant to get on a pitch at the end of a spur with nowhere to go. Even once pitched where they wanted our caravan to go, and they are very specific, we could not hitch our car back up. We had to again move the caravan by hand to a diagonal position in order to fit the car.
The main showers near reception were warm and the water always hot. However the showers were not adjustable, just push button that go off in the quickest time ever. One I was in had to be almost constantly pushed, another lasted 8 seconds between pushes! They are also a bit of a dribble, for someone with a lot of hair that was a problem. The alternative newer family showers did last longer, had more flow but were constantly cold. YUK
The shop had a good range and was not too outrageous in price. The kids park and play area is amongst the best I've seen. Lots of good equipment and room to play football, cricket etc. The dog walk was also very good.
The last point is that the site really should take responsibility for the cliff edge. It really would be very easy to be too close to the edge. We found our children dangerously close when they wondered off one day. Yes they shouldnt be alone, but we have stayed in similar sites that have signs literally every few metres and an identifiable boundary (one such site had it marked with tree stumps laid every so often)Our health and safety experienced camp mate was horrified.

Excellent site, very good value; very helpful staff.
Shower block might get busy when the site is full, but when we were there it was quiet and the showers were immaculately clean, didn't look old and everything worked fine.
Bus stop by gate meant that Cromer is a few minutes away and if you walk back slowly (like us) it takes around 45 minutes, although you might take longer if you were to stop in the village pub along the way!
We didn't spend long enough here to go for lots of walks, but it looked like there were plenty to enjoy.
We don't ask for a lot from a site, but in this case were well impressed with the essentials on offer - the management have clearly got their priorities right!
