Just returned from a weekend at Fron Farm and although we had an excellent time I have to say I have mixed feelings about the site.
I though the site was huge and not 40 pitches like stated on website, there were hundreds of pitches. It seemed so busy and noisy! There is a 10.30 curfew for noise but it is still very noisy way after that.
The much talked about new shower block is now built and is lovely, with free hot showers, but whilst we were there it was continually blocked.
The play area was great for the kids but seemed to be ruled by older teenagers! So, I felt like I always had to be there with mine who are much younger.
My children loved feeding the sheep and the horse riding was excellent fun.
As the other reviews state it is very popular just didn't suit our family, or our idea of camping.

Having read the reviews I decided to Spent 2 nights here camping and was not disappointed the first thing I noticed was how clean the site was and how friendly the season pitch owners were. I didn’t see much of the farmer but the brief time I did see him he looked rushed off his feet .If your thinking of a camping or caravanning holiday this is definitely the place too go especially for families as there is plenty of things for the kids too see and do also the surrounding area is beautiful for walkers and bike ridding and mold is only a few miles away with plenty of shops
The other thing I noticed was how quiet the place was of a night which is exactly what you want when your trying to sleep
Will definitely be going back for another visit in the future

Went to Fron Farm in Mold for the last weekend in July I had seen some of the reviews and thought it would be a good site to take my two little grandchildren, and we wasn’t disappointed.
When we arrived at the farm I went to reception to book in and was then shown to a large field and was told I could put up our tents anywhere we wanted as we were the first to arrive that day, so decided to go to the top of the field a little away from the shower block so if people were using the shower/toilets at night it wouldn’t disturb the children. The grass was not too long and in no time the two tents were up and the children playing on the swings in a well looked after play area.
As the day went on more and more people came but there was lots of room for all the children to play. Later that evening we took our two granddaughters for a ride on the horses and they loved it. Fron Farm is a site were children can be children and play.
The amenities are ok with showers and toilets and pot washing facilities dotted around the site, there is also a new shower block that will be finished soon.
My wife, three daughters two granddaughters, son in-law and my self had a great time and will go back again.

This is a lovely site, with beautiful views, and great people who go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The kids loved it, especially the animals and horses. We will definitely be going back very soon. I hope they get upgraded from only 2* when the new toilet / showers are finished, that will make the site perfect.
Just before we arrived they had the heaviest rain we have ever seen and dreaded trying to pitch the tent in a lake, but as they are quite high up the ground drains really well, and we had no problems at all.

Brilliant site & one of the very few that we've found that allows caravans & tents to pitch side by side. The farmer & his family could not have been more helpful & there was a really nice atmosphere.
We tried to use the pick up services that the local pubs were offering, were they would come & collect you by mini-bus then bring you back with the proviso that you would eat at the pub however both pubs said that their normal transport was out of order so they couldn't come & get us.
Good playground for children & loads of information on what to do in the area, although you would have to drive to get there.
Would definitely return.

Great campsite, Mostly caravans though! Lots to do for kids, went with a 5year old and a 1year old. Loved seeing the sheep and watched them being sheared on the saturday. Great ride on the farmers tractor on the sunday. Freezer to put ice packs was very useful. Very cold at night time in april (i mean freezing) even though it was very very warm in the day. New toilet block is being built which will add greatly to the camp. Overall a great site, fantastic views but with being so high up the chill does get you at night! will go back next year but about june / july. Good market in mold on saturday with most high street shops.

Enjoyed a lovely weekend at this Site
Loos Ok could be a bit a little cleaner but not too bad and showers basic but with plenty of hot water although sure this will improve as new block due to open very soon. Dishwashing area good and again lots of hot water
Everything you might need you can find in Mold, but nothing within walking distance (that we found) They sell Lamb Burgers on site . Didn't try but told they were excellent!
We camped on the lower field - The Views are stunning!
Kids seemed to be enjoying the play area - mine just loved playing in the big open field and they all loved the animals that are on the site.
Farmer strict and ran a tight ship . But that having been said it meant a peaceful stay for everyone.
Pony rides great and good value
Tractor sledging was lots of fun! whole site joined in and they didn't charge just asked for donations for the Air Ambulance . Very Nice touch.
All in all a great place to stay for families and couples, hope to return soon

The site was bigger than I expected with a lot of seasonal pitches as well as the camping / caravan fields. The entry on this website currently states 40 pitches but it must be more than this. Owners and staff are friendly and efficient and give you a choice of pitch. Electric pitches are a decent size and flat, the other camping field is slightly more undulating but by compensation more spacious. It was also very busy with walking parties as well as couples and families. Generally it was still largely quiet with the exception of one party who intermittently had their van stereo on (not beyond the no noise time) and there was also noise from the playground until pretty late.
There is a nice feel and setting to the site and the activities arranged over the weekend by the owners just give the site a little bit extra for families. We enjoyed the walk through the nature reserve culminating with a ride back on the site's quad bike, pony rides (different sizes of pony used so even my two year old could enjoy his first pony ride) and tractor pull (mentioned in other reviews and enjoyed by seemingly every child on the site). In addition there are goats and chickens, horses and cows for the little ones to see and feed as well as the playground .
There are no shops in the immediate vicinity and a drive towards Mold is really needed - however the street market on Saturday morning is worth a visit and there are a few other individual 'non -chain' shops which make the trip worthwhile.
At present the toilet and shower facilities are the main down side to the site. The showers are currently inadequate in quantity and quality, but this issue will hopefully be resolved with the much bigger new block which is nearing completion.
The site is reasonably priced, retains its farm feel, is not too commercialised and so, as it is only an hour from us, we have booked to go back over the August Bank holiday - when the new facilities should be up and running.

New to camping this year. Came to this site at beginning of june for 2 nights. Very friendly, play area is excellent, my kids are 11,9,7. Within 2 mins of arriving they had already made friends and playing. Good facilities, toilets, shower blocks and pot wash, all free. A new shower block being built as well. Pitch sizes were good, no noise after 11.30 which seemed to be adhered to. Enjoyed it so much we returned a fortnight later for 1 night. Would definitely recommend and will be returning again.

My friend and I with 5 children visited Fron Farm for 3 nights we were not impressed on arrival with the length of the grass especially when putting up a tent! The facilities are not very good the toilets are porta loos and the showers mobile too! and grubby not a good experience. The park is small and would be good for 6yrs and under but nothing for over 6's to do. It was a good 10-15 mins drive to any shops so quite remote. We didn't really see the owners apart from each time the switch tripped for the electrics.
Overall I think that Fron Farm could be a really good site if it was cleaner and the new shower block was finished (nobody was working on it whilst we were there!) so not in any rush to finish it!.
There is lots of land and it is a very big site but has loads of potential. The children enjoyed the horse riding and feeding the sheep. We are harden campers and have been camping for 4yrs but I was disappointed in this site and wont be returning.
