Booked last minute to Fron Farm after reading about it on here. Staff were very welcoming and guided us straight to our field where we could choose our own pitch. The shower blocks were only small but very clean and never busy. The park was bang in the midle of the site which meant we could let the kids have a free roam. Lots of activities on site to keep them busy like the tractor rides and the horseriding.
The burger van on site was great, tasy and fairly cheap too. The home-made cakes for sale in the shop went down well too!
Although fires weren't allowed some group on our field decided to have one AND chop all their wood all night. This didn't spoil it too much though as we are due to go back in 5 weeks!
You are as people said pretty much in the middle of nowhere and definitely need a car to get around.
All in all a great site for families.

It was our first time camping (me, my wife & our 2 kids 6 & 10). We didn't know what to expect, but what a time we had, they really know how to make people feel special, they always had time to chat & join in the fun.
The showers, toilets & pot wash facilities were clean & well maintained, the communal freezer wasn't working but the shop were more than happy to put freezer blocks in the freezer (free of charge) the kids play area was safe & fun. Small site shop basic but cheap enough, hot food van based on site (£1.10 chips, £1.80 cheese burger), local icecream van visits everyday, horse riding £2 a go, lamb feeding, rabbits, chickens, goats, pigs & fantastic views & country side to go walking.
The site is in the middle of no where but only 5-10 mins drive from tesco, aldi, co-op & many more.
The kids want to go back already, small family run site, great for the kids peaceful for the adults.

Just had a fantastic weekend at the farm again, we went for the royal wedding and as usual it was great! All the staff working really hard as ever all the kids had a ball with the tractor drag and pony rides. The party in the barn for the kids after the wedding was shown on 2 large screens and a charity disco on sat night. Hot food on sale was good too. All in all another fab camping trip, thanks everyone.

We left it until the last minute before booking for the royal wedding weekend (after seeing the great weather forecast) and tried many campsites in Shropshire and Wales.
Fron Farm was the only site which had an EHU pitch for us. We read the reviews and were happy enough to book. We normally prefer smallish, quiet, family sites and knew from the reviews that Fron Farm, would be busier and noisier than we were used to.
The site is in a lovely, rural setting with countryside views and is within easy reach of Rhyl and Prestatyn beaches. It's quite a windy site, so bring your windbreaks!
The owners were friendly and helpful and all the facilities were as described. The showers and toilets were clean and modern, there was a small, but well-stocked shop, and the children’s play area was great, although very well used by a large number of children!
The site does not have 40 pitches (as stated here), but at least twice as many, if not more. We were initially surprised to see CCTV around the site and in the toilet block. The owners do a great job of policing the site and checking that everyone is ok and behaving themselves, but on occasion, this did seem necessary rather than over-zealous.
The vast majority of campers in the field we were pitched in, stuck to the site rules, but a few families were pitched in small groups, which lead to some rather vocal exchanges of opinion (at night) after a whole day’s drinking.

We visited Fron Farm last weekend staying Friday and Saturday night. The site is reasonably easy to find from the main road out of Mold, and is about 2 miles away from the main road along a single track road with passing points (no problem even with a 22ft caravan). Upon arrival we were made very welcome by the friendly helpful owners. They gave us some helpful information about the site and the forthcoming farm events and then showed us to our grass pitch.
The pitches have more than enough space to house a large caravan/awning and park the car next to the caravan with space to easily walk around the outside of the whole setup without leaving your bay. There are some great views from the site as it is located at the top of a hill, which was surprisingly calm and wind free.
There are two toilet/shower blocks one of which is quite new and very well kept. Dogs are allowed on leads and all seemed to keep to the rules. The site became calm and quiet around 10pm as instructed in the rules, this partly due to the great play park having to be vacated at 9pm.
On Saturday we visited Prestatyn which was only 13 miles away and easy to find, but the best thing about Fron Farm is the kid's activities. Saturday morning lamb feeding, Saturday afternoon pony rides and Sunday morning tractor drag ride(see you tube, type in fron farm). All money raised from these events went to Alder Hey children's hospital.
Highly recommended site if you have young kids like us.We all had a great time and will definitely be visiting again soon!

Just returned from another relaxing weekend at Fron Farm, weather was fab couldn't ask for more. Its been over 12 months since last here, and there have been improvements, the reception area, has a lovely stone wall around, with steps, and some of the fields, are undergoing EHU installation. Toilet block still as smart as the day it was built, didn't bother with the showers as only there for weekend, and we can rough it. I did however notice that there wasn't a separate cubicle with just a washbasin, if you wanted to clean your bits (body wash/hair etc), and not have a full shower, or if you don't like brushing your teeth in view of others, maybe something that could be considered. Cant fault Dylan & Ceri for the hardwork that they put into running the farm/caravan park
Horseriding was a hit with my 2 daughters, to the point of walking with novice riders, and the horses - greatly appreciated by them. My son, as always made friends with others, and was off from the minute of getting up until it went dark, there now seems to be a policy of not having kids on the play area around 9.00pm by sending them back to the tents/caravans etc. Which I think is a great idea, people who don't have kids don't always want to hear others! There is a quarry close by, they were working Saturday from 7.00ish, obviously there is noise, but its like anything, you don't hear it after a while, it wasn't operational in the evening, or Sunday.
There now seems to be pitches marked out with numbers, all of a good size, we had 18 which was a corner pitch, by the new toilet block, this also got the afternoon sun.So if like me. A beer in hand, and some rays, this run will be fine.
Hoping to book some additional weekends over the summer,
The reception area has a small selection of sweets, and icecreams, they also sell locally made fairy cakes, very good indeed. There is also a Fast Food wagon by the cow shed, the chips were a treat with the kids, if not a little expensive at £1.20 a tray.
Looking forward to booking the next trip.Cant wait.

Really good site very well priced. The kids loved it some of the pitches are on a very slight slope so make sure you place your airbeds the right way.
One big problem is the wasps ( not the sites fault ) but not very pleasant when you are trying to eat and they are landing on your food and in your hair they really spoilt meal times.
Most campers where very friendly apart from a few larger louts who seemed to think we were boring because we where quietly chatting at 11ish because we had children in bed they seemed to think we should be shouting and screaming like they where. You get them everywhere I suppose.
Shop very basis but Tesco is only 10 mins away.
Big pitches 10m X 10m

This is a great site hidden away in lovely country side and not too far away for a weekend break. The people who own it are great and very helpful.
It's a big site but well maintained new shower block is good with lots of hot water, kids play area is good little one loved it (age 3) and the pony rides are a must which are every Saturday, and tractor rides look like good fun our little was bit too small but all proceeds are donated to Alder Hey Hospital.
We will definitely go back a great site and lots of friendly people. There are lots of caravans where we stayed and it was lovely on the 'buzzard rest' field well sheltered and quiet. We will definitely go back again!

We stayed at this campsite in Augusy 2010 as part of a 2 day biking holiday. The owners were lovely and very accommodating as we were arriving quite late. They were also very helpful in directing us to the nearest local pub.
The campsite is very well kept and tidy. The shower blocks were immaculate and new.
As it is a working farm it was lovely to see all the animals close by. Also, the workings of the farm did not seem to cause any problems with noise from tractors etc.
This was a lovely campsite and I would be very happy to go back.
