I'm looking for a friendly site, with lovely views, a real country feel. Somewhere my kids can play safely, ride around on their bikes, and gain some independence by having the freedom to visit the toilet block and shop unsupervised.
I would like some really good walks for my family and dog, and helpful staff upon arrival. I don't mind people having a few drinks and a laugh, as long as I have some quiet from around Midnight. I'm looking for plenty of hot water and clean facilities.
I can't believe it, I've found it all at Fron Farm!
In addition, the kids enjoy woodland walks and tractor rides - arranged by the farmer. (Donations are given to charity)
Pony rides are also available.
Fron has a small shop for essentials and Old Macdonalds serve breakfast and burgers, chips etc.
I have been visiting this site for 5 years now, I just can't find anything to beat it.
It has grown quite a bit over the time, and now I must try to remember to book well in advance.
Well done to Dylan & Ceri, and all your staff for your wonderful welcome. Keep up the good work, I've watched you go from strength to strength and you so deserve to prosper.
Hope to visit again before the end of the season.

Visited Fron farm on a (very) windy bank holiday, and the first thing I would say is that some of the pitches are exposed, so take your delta pegs. Having said that this means that parts of the site have some fantastic uninterrupted views over the Clwydian range, with some great spots for a picnic.
The facilities were first rate with a new toilet/shower block that was spotless for the whole of our stay.
There is plenty for the kids to do on site with a playground( always cleared of noisy kids at a set time every evening by the friendly warden, so don't worry if your given a pitch near by), animals to feed and pony and tractor rides( which the kids loved!).
The site is well situated with Mold only a short drive away, with all the usual supermarkets, and some decent pubs and restaurants, and Snowdonia and Chester not that far away.
And the owners Ceri and Dylan are two of the nicest, hardest working site owners I've come across. I would definitely recommend Fron Farm and we will be going back, soon!

We nervously drove our Ford Galaxy complete with 2 adults and three very excited boys onto Fron Farm for our first ever camping trip. We needn't have been worried as we were warmly welcomed and escorted to our pitch by a quad bike!
After passing the well equipped children's play area, we were given a choice of very well sized pitches on the field with hook up.
Despite the previous weeks weather, the ground was in surprisingly good condition. We opted for a pitch close to the new shower block. Wife naturally checked it out and was very impressed! It was very clean and remained so for our break as the staff worked very hard to maintain it.
It's very difficult to choose a highlight. Could it be the horse riding, the hysterical tractor ride, fresh farm eggs or the burger van (saturday nights tea!) Boys almost burst with excitement!
The site feels very safe and friendly ( just as as well as we have a wandering 3 year old!) and the 10.30pm cut off point for noise is generally adhered to. We have already booked a return visit, need we say more!

Just returned from a 3 nt break on the farm with my young nephews, who loved it. I have stayed at this site many times before but missed last yearr to go walking and on my return found that the owners ceri and dylan, who work their socks off to keep the site looking beautiful, were still at it, with new toilet and shower block on the highland feild and new road surfaces around the park a nice new warden who cleans the facilities at least 3 times a day the site is a credit.
A new reception with a little shop for basics, ice cream and lovely burgers was a great idea and everyone was freindly again its a pleasure knowing this little gem of a site is only 1/2 and hour away and its like a little welsh haven up in the hills well done guys. We will definitley return again and again.

Arrived on site first weekend of the school summer holidays with wife and 2 kids (7 & 4). Our first worry was that our name had already been crossed out of the book. As we were taken up to our pitch which was on the top field, she offered us plot 3 right opposite the old toilet block. We decided this was ideal as there was a small rocket climbing frame nearby and the large playground was in view from the pitch. Being near the toilets we thought that would be ideal too.
The pitch was fairly large and our Vario 600 plus with extention fit on very well the only downside being that when we turned over in bed it was noticeable that the pitch sloped front to back. A bit late by then to do anything about it.
At first glance the site seemed to be populated by long term tourers as all around you could see them with permanent awnings and fences. Some looked a little untidy as though nobody had been for some time.
When we got pitched and sorted we found more tents on the top field near the new toilet block. The plots looked more level but the view of the playground was obscured by large thick bushes/trees.
Between 7pm-8pm there were pony rides for £2. These were well organised and the kids loved them. The Saturday night was very busy and the 22:30 rule for quiet was not adhered to or enforced. Weekends were a lot more noisy, but found during the week kids DID play right up until 22.30pm. It gave the task of getting small kids to bed before that time difficult.
The following day there was a tractor pull, a mat tied to a tractor and this was in aid of a local charity so donations were accepted rather than charged. We had rain everyday but the site never seemed to get too muddy, just the usual grass cuttings everywhere. The Goats and horses were fattened up with the bag of carrots we had bought, this was something the kids loved to do. From Sunday onwards he site became a bit quieter as all the weekenders went home.
The toilet block opposite our tent was in an ideal position but was very outdated the shower left a lot to be desired and it was only ideal for pot washing and going to the loo in the night. Luckily the new block are not too far away and these were of a very high standard with plenty of hot water even if the shower did knock off after 5 seconds. This must be the best site we have been to with so much hot water that didn't run out ever!
There was a shop selling essentials and Gas if required. The Local Tesco in Mold was about 5 miles away and this got plenty of use. The town of Mold has everything you might require, plenty of takeaways and a good shops and much more.
With the weather being unkind, we were told about the Sun Centre in Rhyl. The kids thought this was fabulous, as you could eat, spectate and enjoy all that was on offer for swimmers. The front was nice too in Rhyl, we did try Colwyn Bay but this had nothing much to offer beach wise, Llandudno was lovely, try the tramway.
Would love the visit this site again for what it has to offer, but would probably will come at a quieter time (i.E. Not school holidays).

Family of 4, 2 adults, 2 kids ages 3 and 1. No pets. With EHU
Easy to find, sat nav took us straight there and entrance was signposted well. Didn't look that big to begin with but when we followed the quad bike up to the empty pitches it was quickly apparent how big the site was.
We could chose where to pitch, although being Saturday morning there were few choices. We were pitched close to the new toilet block on I believe the Highland field, it had highland sheep in a large pen in the middle.
Pitches were all of very good size and we had plenty of space for our 6 berth tent and our extension, even though the site was virtually full. Pitch was also very level and the ground was good, we had lots of drizzly rain over our stay, and a big downpour overnight and the drainage was good, no big mud puddles and not at all sludgy.
New toilet block was 4 loos and 3 showers for each gender, 1 loo had baby change table and 1 of the showers was extra large, making showering 3 of us together easier, only 2 down points, first would be that water only lasted 10 sec per button push, slightly annoying, but plenty of hot water (maybe tad too hot for my 1 year old) and second would've liked a mop in showers, I like to mop up after myself out of courtesy to others.
Was cleaned late in evening (bout 10ish) but unfortunately due to wet grass, there was constantly wet grass bits inside- but lets face it your on a farm, and it was clearly clean and hygienic and that's what matters, plenty of loo roll and couple of plug sockets also. Only popped into loo of older block, it is just dated and was clean overall, even saw them being cleaned over weekend too.
My girls loved the pony ride on saturday evening, although the 1 year old only managed 1 lap, they let you walk round with the smaller kids for safety and could hold the baby on, they loved it, and realy liked to see all the animals around. Play area was very popular even in the rain and was well placed centrally.
All the other campers were really friendly and chatty too, sometimes people never say hello to one another, not like that at all. All the staff would say hello or wave as they passed.
Would've liked a washing machine facility but not crucial.
Gem of a site and good value for money (£45.50 for 3 night with EHU) would love to return.
P.S we had day trip to Caernarfon castle, took just over an hour to get there and was fantastic.

Very disappointed
Approach advised by site is single track and uphill so not for the faint-hearted!
We arrived at the time we had stated but no one in reception and no reply on the given phone numbers so having waited 30-45mins decided to find our own pitch.
Eventually the not so friendly site warden found us and suggested we could pay as there was now someone in reception!
On the plus side the children enjoyed the animals park and pony rides.
The toilet block is modern but not cleaned enough for its usage. The showers have no temperature control and are push button.
Maybe we were unlucky but we wont be returning

Just arrived back from a 2 night stay at this site.
A very nice site with lots to do to keep the young ones entertained, from pony rides (on Saturday nights). Tractor rides (Sunday morning) monies from this go to Alder Hey Hospital and they have raised a fair amount already this year. There are goats rabbits and chickens to look at, a large playground and lots of space for ballgames etc. We were on the the Ranch Field which although exposed I think had the most room, walking around at night the ELH field looked a little bit too packed for me.
They have 2 toilet blocks with 3 showers in the main one, considering how busy the site was I did not notice a lot of queing, the water was fairly hot with no temp control and a constant pushing of the button was needed to keep the flow of water going. I think they were cleaned to a good standard. All pot washing areas are under cover and constant hot water once again which was good.
Mold is only 10 mins drive away with all the usual big brand shops and they have a well packed shop on site add to this the burger van and the daily visits from the ice-cream man. What more could you ask for
Negative- There were signs all over site saying of noise level after 10:30pm must be kept down this wasn't the case in any way, we were in bed after 11:00 and still being kept awake well after midnight yapping dogs, kids still up running about and load talking. I think it was being dealt with with you can't baby sit people you just hope they act reasonable and think of others
Having said all that I wouldn't hesitate in going back beautiful views, great location and very reasonably priced

Just back from a weekend stay. Friendly welcome.
This is a big site with caravans out numbering tents. Some of the caravans appear to be permanently sited. If you are camping and want electricity then you may get mixed in with visiting caravans or motorhomes. The tents who used electric hook ups had to use a plot which meant they were closer to their neighbours than I would have been happy with.
We do not use electric hook up so had the choice of two tent fields when we arrived. The thing to remember with this site is that it is over 200m (600ft) above sea level and one field is quite exposed. We chose the other field which was empty, more sheltered and provided us with a lovely plot. Other campers arrived later but everybody kept their distance.
The site has no laundry facilities so not an option for a long stay as we have 3 young children. The playground could do with an overhaul (the whole swing frame was moving) and maybe put down bark as the ground was rock hard.
The toilet facilities did not appear to be cleaned regularly especially after the morning rush. As mentioned, this a big site and quite noisy in the evening. This does go on well after 10.30pm. One night, well after midnight. The site is also dog friendly which does add to the noise and the very occasional randomly left dog mess.
As only a weekend stay, cannot say much about area. Mold has a Tescos, Lidl and I think an Aldi. Standard Saturday market. From past experience there is good walking on Offas Dyke path on the hills opposite the site.
Overall the site is OK but just needs a few tweaks to make it really good. We will go back.

Just returned from a two night stay here and I would say it provided a good stay and was very good value for money. The owners are very pleasant and helpful, and the pony rides and tractor rides for kids are great. The play area serves the children well, and there is no problem playing football, ball games etc.
There are two toilet facilities, one being brand new but I did notice a cleaning issue. The site was fairly full and I think the toilet block could have been cleaned more. It is a very good facility, and I just felt it wasn't done proper justice by being left too long between cleans.
We pitched on the 'Ranch' field which was very exposed to winds coming in. This is something to bear in mind if you pitch there. I was up at 4.30 am with other campers resecuring parts of the tent that were literally being blown off, but hey, that's part of the fun!
If you are looking for somewhere to just go for the weekend and let the kids run about then Fron Farm would be a good choice.
