Just spent 3 days at Fron Farm. We were met with a warm welcome from Dylan and asked to drive on the campsite and pitch where-ever we wanted.
We chose a pitch next to the sheep field (could have pitched next to the small family of cattle instead). All pitches were flat, with an abundance of 6amp electric hook-ups (if required) and drinking water taps. The top field is ideal to pitch on as the sun hits the field first thing and helps dry the dew, rain off a tent when packing away (although departures up to 2pm are allowed).
Facilities were excellent with a toilet block at the entrance to this field and the main block, with separate showers, washing area, leaflets on local attractions and freezer only 80 yards down the gravel track. Between both was a play area with swings, slide, quad bike and see-saw, which my two kids loved. Noise on the site was kept to a minimum as night fell. That allowed the kids and I to get some really restful nights, with only the sound of cows chewing the cud to lull us to sleep. Bliss !
The site is ideally located for the town of Mold (4 miles away) with a Tesco's and all the modern chains in the town. We used the site as a base to explore North Wales. We spent a day in Rhyl in the free open air paddling pool (opened Feb 2008). Be aware, all public toilets in Rhyl cost 20p so take some change ! We also went to Snowdon Railway one day, which took just 70 minutes to get to but cost £37 for one adult and 2 children! A cheaper alternative is the Lakeside Railway which has a stop with picnic area and play area to explore (£12.50 for the three of us)
Overall, an excellent site, not too big to be just a face in the crowd.

Just spent a few nights at this campsite and thought the price very reasonable.
It was a larger site than we expected, the section near the main facilities seeming to be for caravans and seasonal people, which always seems back to front for me as the people in tents who need the facilities more are always the furthest from them. There was a portacabin type toilet bit near the top field though with two hand wash sinks and @ 4 toilets in.
Showers are free and there is one inside the female and male toilet blocks and two outside. You can adjust temperature to suit yourself in the outside ones and the one shower inside is worked by push button and has a regulated temperature. The facilities were OK, but at times we did find them a bit messy, but that was probably due to the amount of people using them and also parents not watching their kids who tended to throw paper towels and toilet paper around. The portacabin toilets could be `aromatic` at times, so we tended to walk to the main ones.
One pot wash sink, which seemed a bit odd for a site this large and there were frequent queues for it. There is also a free freezer in the pot wash room.
The EHU is 6amp and we managed OK with it.
Dylan keeps farm animals in pens near the top field and we were there when the second calf was born and the kids loved watching them. Dylan came round and gave everyone a ride on the sledge (?) which was enjoyed by all. Dylan and Ceri are very friendly and helpful, really lovely people, nothing is too much trouble for them.
The only downside we found with the site was the noise. Although there are notices saying no noise after 11pm or you may be asked to leave the site with no refund, we found it was ignored quite a few nights during our stay. We went to this site as we wanted to do a lot of sightseeing in the area and we intended going to bed about 11 or 11.30 at the latest and getting up early to go out for the day, but we frequently found the noise kept us awake until well after that time.
Mold is a few minutes drive away and it has a Tesco, Aldi, Iceland and Somerfield as well as a Market on two days a week. The Big Fish chip shop does really good fish and chips at very reasonable prices.
One place I would like to encourage people to visit is the 50`s Museum at Denbigh, a short drive from the site. Although at first appearance you think you have gone to the wrong place, lots of ramshackle sheds and old rusty cars etc, it is a little gem of a place. It costs £3.50 per adult and kids under 16 are free and you get free tea or coffee and free squash for the kids. Inside you could easily spend a lot of time looking at all the exhibits, among which is the actual lorry used in the Great Train Robbery and the Police Car from Heartbeat. You can actually touch and pick up the exhibits and the guys there are very knowledgable about all the items and have a lot of little anecdotes to tell. They also sell some fantastic sausage from pigs they have reared themselves and it is worth every penny.
Chester and Liverpool aren`t far away and the Park and Ride is the best way to visit Chester. It costs £1.70 return for each adult and kids under 16 are free.
All in all we enjoyed our stay and if it wasn`t for the noise problem we experienced our visit would have been perfect.

Stayed for a couple of nights end of July in Fantastic weather, until the heavens opened through the night, still didnt ruin what was a great couple of days.
The owners where very friendly on arrival, telling us to pitch anywhere, loads of grassy fields to pitch in, although busy there was plenty of room to pitch in and park the car.
My 2 year old loved it, from feeding the goats to shouting moo as loud as he could to the cows.
Felt great to just roam round the farm in the sun, feeding the horses and watching the cows and calves, the place has a nice safe feel to it.
Not really in walking distance to the local boozer but I believe there is a mini bus which will pick up people and bring you back.
Our electric tripped once in 2half days, just flicked the switch and it was back on again, not a problem whatsoever.
The toilets and showers are very basic, just make sure you take a few spare toilet rolls as there never seemed to be any, I could live with this for a couple of days, but not much longer.
If this could be addressed the site would be faultless, still as a family we would definitely return in the future.

We have just returned today from this site and we had a fantastic time. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners, even letting us buy one of the throw away bbq's they had just bought at the shops for their own holiday! My girls aged 3 and 8 loved the animals and even saw a baby cow being born. This site seems very safe, quiet and there is so much room for the children to play and explore although nothing compares to being pulled around a field by the farmers tractor! The facilities are basic which is not normally for me as I like my home comforts but I would not hesitate to return.

Just had a brilliant weekend at fron farm. The directions on the web page are perfect and got there very easily. When we got to the farm the owner told use to camp where we wanted to and if we need him to find him at the farm house. We found a pitch near the toilets and play ground.
The children both 5 had a brilliant time, the play area is very good and with lots of children around they soon met lots of friends to play with.(my 2 had more fun playing on a tree trunk than anything else!) the whole place felt very safe for the children as is was very open so we could see them all the time and everybody kept to the low speed in their cars.
The toilets were very clean and toilet paper and paper towels filled up everyday. The animals there are very friendly and it was brilliant for the children to be so close and to feed them.
This is an excellent site and I would encourage anybody will children to go its so calm and relaxing and everybody is so friendly.
Before we left the site we had decided to return in a couple of weeks.

This is a brilliant site, we have been coming here for 3 years now and we have had no trouble nor noisy neighbours. Like all campsites you do sometimes get someone who is a bit noisy, all you need to do is see the owners, Dylan and Ceri and they are very happy to help.
They do come round often and Dylan lays a tractor ride on if he is not busy. He is a farmer and he always leaves a note on the door to ring him if needed. In the evening he comes around to talk to everyone. This is a working farm so you can appreciate that he is sometimes busy.
This is a lovely site and friendly site to go to my family love this site , in my eyes any negative feed back is so untrue.

Just been here for one night - it's our local site. Good views and lots of room. Play area looked really good , our kids are a bit old for that now. Played pool in the barn, there's a punch bag in there too. It's really rustic and you are on a working farm so lots of machinery around and things to jump on and off in the barn (which you shouldn't do) but some unaccompanied kids were doing etc. I thought the charge of £3 for elec which is only 6 amp was steep to be honest. As far as I could see there was no shop, just some sweets in reception. Toilets were fine but weren't actually that clean - loads of water on the floor. It's £4.50 for an adult and £2.50 for a child all year - so cheap in summer but dear in winter? I can see why it's only two stars because I think they tend to give more stars to the sites which are more manicured and have tiled toilets etc. We will probably go there again as it's so near us and it is ok.

We have just come back from a lovely weekend on Fron Farm. We arrived late Friday afternoon and there was no one at reception, only a sign saying 'gone out, please find yourself a pitch, See you later'. We had the choice of 2 very large fields. We were spoilt for choice. The tourers and tents are situated in the fields up at the top end of the farm and the views are breath taking. The pitches are spacious, clean & tidy and there is plenty of room for the kids to play.
There is a large play area for the children and goats, calves, cows and horses on the farm. The showers are basic and there are only 2 ladies showers and 2 mens showers, but we didn't cue for too long. The toilets are basic, but kept clean everyday. The electric is only 6 amp and kept tripping, but this wasn't really a problem. The owners of the site were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
Mold town Center is about 5 minutes away in the car, where there is a Tescos and other large shops along with the market. We had a great weekend and will hopefully be going back later on this year.

This is a fantastic campsite. We had a lovely welcome on arrival and shown to a pitch which had lots of room around it. Although this was a bank holiday weekend the site wasn't crammed full, which made a pleasant change.
The toilets were always clean and well maintained, and although there were limited facilities for the size of site we didn't need to queue at all. The play area was well equipped and the kids disappeared as soon as we arrived. My son woke very early on the first morning and at 6:30 we were helping feed the new calves.
The area was lovely, and the site well away from the main road and very quiet. Electric hook ups are only six AMP and kept tripping on a regular basis.
If you do visit this site we can highly recommend The Golden Lion Innư at Llangynhafal. It is a short drive over the moors to get to it, but the welcome is warm, the food hot and the beer cold.

Wonderful, peaceful campsite with beautiful views. We stayed for 3 nights on the top field which had large pitches with electric. There were two pens with sheep and cows in close proximity which our children (2 and 5) and a friends daughter who had joined us(8) though were great. The play area was suitable for all ages. There were only a few showers but I didn't notice any queues. We fed the horses. Only down side was that it was very hot and the shop had sold out of ice-creams - hey so did TESCO!
The farmer appeared every so often with a horse for the kids to pet or even took them all for a spin around the campsite on pull-along thing attached to the tractor - my daughter loved it!
Peaceful, friendly and a great stay. Only tears from the kids were when it was time to go home.
We have promised a return visit very soon.
