We really enjoyed our weekend on Fen Farm. The campsite is quite local to us so we know Mersea well.
There was a friendly greeting upon arrival and field recommended to pitch on. There are plenty of electric points but fewer water. We even managed to get a pitch with partial sea view.
There is a short walk to the beach which is well signed. Mahala's fish restaurant is also close by.
I didn't use the shop on site but my boyfriend did come back with a warm pastry as well as a newspaper.
The toilets and showers were plentiful and clean. The building isn't the newest but it is maintained perfectly.
I'm looking forward to going back again.

Stayed for 1 week. Very pleased with site. Plenty of room and you're able to pitch where you want as long as not too near to others. Got good pitch near play area. Not too noisy during the day. Very quiet and peaceful at night. Shower and toilet block always clean and never had to queue even when site was full. Receptionist very helpful and friendly. Good easy access to beach. Lovely site for a relaxing holiday. Weather was fantastic which also helped.
Vineyard cafe was nice, lovely homemade cakes. Pub near site was average. Not loads to do on the island but due to good weather had a fantastic week.

Love this site. It was our 1st site we visited on our return to touring after a 30year gap and so pleased it was this one and not some of the other sites we have visited.
So far this is our fourth return visit.
Site is clean, pitches are well spaced out, friendly wardens on site, toilet block kept clean, large field for games/kite flying.
Easy access to beach. The pub serving good food is just across the road from the camp. The shop at the caravan park (cosways) next door is a little pricey, but a quick car ride takes you into west Mersey were there are supermarkets. Great Crab fishing for the kids in west Mersey

We visited Fen Farm during the first week of the school hols as a recommendation from friends and loved it. The facilities are spotless (piped music is a genius idea), the wardens are friendly and helpful and the space for the kids is safe and vast. We took the bikes and didn't see the kids most of every day while they were away exploring. They have a small play area and it's five minutes from the beach. The downside is that the shop on the adjacent site is extortionately expensive: £2. 99 for a bottle of ketchup! That's the only downside. One tip is that the ground is extremely hard and rocky so you will need rock pegs. Other than that, you're good to go - we'll definitely be back!

I have been coming here for a few years now and it's always clean and friendly, with no distractions apart from the beach and the play area. Pitches are a good size(I always get in the field next to the play area. )
Little shop next door for milk etc and a pub with nice food just down the way. See you next time

What a great campsite we keep going back too and a beautiful Island.
Tucked away in East Mersea is this beauty.
On arrival staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Check in is quick and away you go and pick your spot! Pitch your tent where you want, no allocated spaces and size restrictions. 4 fields to choose all with hook up and lots of room even at peak times, plenty of room for kids to play. There is a 10pm noise reduction and the wardens ensure this is kept. The toilets and showers are kept spotless even in the rain, we've never had to queue.
The site is about a 5 min walk onto the beach through the back of the site past their static caravans. On the beach turning left you can walk to Mersea Stone and get the little ferry to Brightlingsea or to Cudmore Grove Country Park. If you turn right you can even walk along to West Mersea passing the pretty beach huts. West Mersea has The Oyster Bar which does the famous Mersea Oysters and the most amazing fish and chips, well worth a visit, but need to book as gets so busy.
Next to the campsite on the Coopers Caravan site is a little shop that sells nearly everthing you could need.
About 10 mins cycling on the road out of the campsite is a fish restaurant called Mehalahs which is fantastic (part of the Company Shed) no need to book but stops serving food at 4pm.
West Mersea you can get a little boat trip out and on advertised days even a visit to The Old Packing Shed out in the Estuary for a cream tea, which is good fun and value for money.
We have fallen in love with Mersea and this is our favourite campsite so far.

We stayed at Fen Farm for three nights over whitsun bank holiday weekend. Staff lovely and friendly on arrival
Weather not good but hey ho that's the british summer
Shower and toilet block is amazing, fully heated at all times, always being cleaned, lots of hot water, hand dryers that work, music played 24 hrs
Showers lovely and clean no standing in water that doesn't run away and curtains in the cubicles to ensure your dry clean clothes don't get wet.
Site was spotlessly clean no litter, grass and hedges well maintained
Although site was fully booked, still plenty of space between campers/tourers not packed in like sardines as per other sites visited
If you like Mersea Island, peace and quiet then this is the place to go.
Other campers friendly and respectful to their neighbours
Thank you Fen Farm we will be visting again very soon - The Miller family

Arrived on bank holiday Monday and the site was fullish but by the end of the day we were alone in our field. We were made very welcome and we liked the little plastic tag for our dog with the site landline to ensure he was found if he were to stray. The phone signal wasn't good so this was good.
The toilets and showers were absolutely spotless with big well equipped showers and lots of toilets. There was a laundry room and lots of hook ups, which were scattered around the fields each close to a tap. The little shop was well equipped and great for papers each morning.
There were lots of areas to walk the dog and just 5 minutes to the beach. Behind the site were 2 large fields that he could run in. We saw lots of birds, ducks etc.
Altogether a fabulous site. Need to watch the tide times as causeway floods at high tide.
The only difficulty was that the local pub had banned dogs after problems but this wasn't site fault.

Our second visit to Fen Farm this year. Good facilities with friendly and helpful staff.
A couple of inconsiderate fellow campers, loud music (turned down when asked by the wardens) and campers who are unable to use the mops left to clean the showers after their use.
Clean toilets and showers. Only 1 real niggle and that is depending on which way the wind blows you may get an unpleasant smell from the main elsan point.
A fantastic location for beach visits and walks, a good choice of pubs and eateries on the island itself.
A lovely, friendly site, we will be returning

This is a great site, we stayed here for 1 week and found the site very pleasant. We are 2 adults, 3 children, & 1 dog. We pitched opposite the children's play area which was great because the kids spent most of the week in and around this area and we were able to keep an eye at all times.
This place has a great feel of space about it, there are several camping fields and a relaxed attitude towards pitching so long as you keep a good distance between units. Although all the pitches around us were being used it never felt overcrowded like some other places do. Also there was lots of room for the children to play football and run about as they should do, again some sites do not offer this freedom so readily.
We found all the facilities to be spot on, toilets and showers always clean and the 24hr music playing is a great little extra that adds to a more pleasant shower.
All in all a great camping experience, I would recommend this site to all. Yes it can be noisy at times around the park area but if you are a couple or seek the more quiet break then pitch in one of the other fields and you will have no bother.
This site is also great for dogs, there are great little dog walking area's and a very large open field area just behind the camping fields. Our dog also loves walking along the beach.
Friendly staff, great location and I am always visiting the island because it has so much to offer. Will recommend and return to this place. Well done wardens, owners, management. Spot On!
