2 adults, 2 kids (4 & 7). Tent. 2 nights. Busy bank holiday; cold, windy, slightly rainy. Booking and arrival straightforward and well managed. Site is quite large; roughly divided into 4 fields. There is a small trailer site attached and also several large trailer sites around the area. Toilet & shower block is kept clean and tidy - site warden cleans it regularly. Didn't have to queue for showers etc. The washing up facilities were ok - 2 inside sinks and 1 outside. Had to queue for these. Laundry facilities looked good but several times people washed up greasy bbq stuff in a sink clearly marked for clothes washing.

We pitched in the small field - I was glad: the main field was quite rowdy / rough - but the small field is next to the road in and out (the kids had to cross a road to get to the play area / toilets) : dusty and noisy. Site was busy during day and evening but was quiet from 11 pm or earlier. Lovely location near to the estuary beach with easy walks and cycling around. Ice cream van visited both nights. Small shop on neighbouring site - stocked basics (but statics site so lots of microwave ready meals and sweets etc - a limited choice for tent cooking). Small Co-op is a car drive away as is a nice small local shop. Several restaurants and pubs nearby - but menus quite limited. Our kids loved the playgrounds & being near to the beach. Site is very flat - fields seemed very dry - cracks etc. The site itself is very nice and well managed - the wardens were a welcome presence - as ever, other guests can be inconsiderate. If you want a small, quiet site I wouldn't recommend this, otherwise it's fine.

We have been visiting Fen Farm for nearly three years now after a recommendation from friends.

Two adults four kids ( aged 16-3) one dog. The staff are extremely pleasant & helpful. Our pitch was easy to find, very tidy. My first stop was the toilet & shower block ! It was immaculate ! The family room was the same.

The wardens are lovely, you always see them about the site offering advice & help.

There's a good sized shop just next door to the site selling all your basics, newspapers & bits & bobs.

Just a 5 min walk & your by the sea, great for collecting shells / crabbing.

There's a small park for children ( I would say smaller kids) but a big field for the older kids to fly kites or play football & bike riding.

We've stayed for 2 weeks, long weekends, & a couple of nights & ALWAYS enjoyed every stay.

There's a larger supermarket in the town & a couple of take aways which are all very nice.

I would HIGHLY recommend Fen Farm to anybody.

Families, young couples, the more mature camper it's a fab place for all :)

Superb washing up stations, washing machines, tumble driers. Hope you get to visit you won't be disappointed 😊

Excellent campsite only downside is the odour across the fields fr

The Elsan disposal which is rather off putting. The campsite is lovely though and right by the beach. Facilities excellent and always clean. Lots of showers and toilets and never had to queue.

Reception and warden very helpful and friendly.

I've been 3 times now and will return again.

Please try and address the Elsan problem then it would be perfect!

This was our first camping trip with our children aged 2 and 5. The facilities on site are excellent and by far the cleanest we have come across. We had the freedom to pitch where we pleased and choose to pitch near the children's play area so we were able to keep an eye on ours at all times. The play park is locked promptly between 9. 30 pm and 8. 30 am to allow for a peaceful night (and the only way we were able to get the kids in). The site staff are reallly helpful and friendly and the wardens do a brilliant job of keeping the site clean and welcoming. The shop at the site next door stocks all that you need and is easily accessible. The beach is easily accessible by a public footpath.

We had a fantastic time and have booked our next visit already as well as planning a longer stay next summer.

This was our first time to Fen Farm and our first time camping on our own and with a new tent, and we could not have picked a lovelier place. When we arrived we were told we could pick any pitch with a hook up and there was so much choice. I had read reviews about the shower blocks being clean and modern and we were not disappointed. The music whilst showering is a really lovely touch and everything is clean and kept to a very high standard. We took a stroll to the beach which is about a 5 min stroll and spent a lovely time collecting shells and looking for oysters! We did not try the pub across the road but we are coming back in august and will definitely walk over for a few drinks and a meal next time. The wardens on the site are very helpful and friendly. We liked that at 11pm, if you have music playing you are told to turn off or to keep the noise to a minimum as we have an 18 month old baby and I found this to be very considerate. Our elder two, who are 12 and 9, had a great time playing in the fields with torches till 10. 30pm and we felt completely safe letting them play with all the other children on the site. This really is a lovely, family friendly site and Mersey is a great little island.

I want to give this site a bad review. But only so we can find space when we want to go again. Just spent the weekend at this lovely site. We were a group of 3 units 2 tents and a caravan 9 people in total, 2 little children 1 old lady and assorted ages in between. We had a lovely time. Lots of space the children were safe they were given colouring by the lady in reception and also a treasure hunt I thought that was a lovely touch. The site was beautifully maintained. The toilets and shows were very pleasant to use. Our EHU was not quite long enough but we left a deposit and the receptionist gave us an extension. The deposit was returned at the end of our stay. We went to West Mersea for a meal and a boat trip the youngest children sportted a crocodile and mermaids ! ! ! There was crabbing for the kids to do. There was a good size supermarket in W Mersea.

Back on Fen Farm there was a little shop very close which had quite good stock.

There is a vineyard nearby unfortunately due to the bad weather we gave it a miss.

The staff at Fen Farm were very helpful and friendly. We found 2 children's play parks and the children thought it was wonderful.

There were several family / friends groups on site and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves.

I really want to go to Fen Farm again it is my idea of a proper campsite as no awful club house and everyone just enjoying themselves

Just back from this site, good site to stop on, toilets spotless camping in 3 fields just camp where you want, beach next to site can sea the sea from some pitches, beach pebbled small shop 50 yds from reception but on adjacent site, children's play area pub short walk from site cooks meals didn't try ourselves but looks ok. Nice walks from site but beware adder snakes in long grass keep to paths when walking keep dogs on a lead, also mosquitos on island my wife was bitten cover up at dusk. Had a nice time at this site very much quieter during the week.

Well just returned from a great weekend away at this site. It was a great place to camp and will be returning. Only problem we had was the first night there was some cars moving around the site very early hours and being near to the gravel road was pretty noisy. Apart from that the shower and toilet block was great especially with the little bit of background music playing. The park entertained our 2 girls for much of the day and wore them out. So overall its a great place and recommend it to everyone.

Our first time in our 'new to us' Camplet. And boy we were very spoilt with Fen Farm. It is going to be hard to find another site that is as good as this. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There are 4-5 flat fields to choose from to pitch up. Electric hook up was close. The facilities are award winning. There's even music playing in the toilet and shower area. The toilets were spotlessly clean as were the showers. The only niggle was you had to hold the shower 'knob' to keep the flow of water, a bit tricky when washing a child and yourself! There was a shop next door which we used and prices seemed ok. Elsan easy to find but screened, easy to use. There were two children's play areas which were ok, the kids enjoyed them. The beach is sand and pebble/shells and about 5 minute walk. There were plenty of doggy waste bins. The site seemed quiet though was busy. Access was fine but then we are only small, but plenty of caravans etc there. There was a pub less than 5 minute walk but we didn't try it out as a very fussy eater with us! Lots of nice walks without having to go in the car. We will be going back very soon. Advise to book though even if it's last minute like we did. Definitely recommend this site.

This will have been our third visit to the site, there will be more in the future.

This is a great site. Very clean and spacious toilet and shower facilities. Good little play area for the children and plenty of grass for the kids to run around on.

There is a great pub just opposite the site entrance.

There are plenty of other places to shop / eat in west Mersea.

Right off the site is the beach. Great for long walks and even a bit of fossil hunting !
