Lovely scenery, very clean site, toilet block nice and clean, the campsite is nice and quite. But the road is busy as its the main road into Whitby. It is a working sheep farm so the sheep are in the fields most of the time. It does say walking distance into Whitby, you can walk it but it is a bit of a trek. Would I stay there again. [ yes ]

Excellent site, stopped over for 2 nights while touring around, very close to Whitby. Plenty of room with a lower field for hook ups and a large grass field for tents and motor homes that don't want power and like more room with nice country views, site is quite close to the road but don't let that put you off. Showers and toilets were very clean with plenty of hot water and owners were friendly and relaxed and the price was good.

Stayed 3 nights. Hardstanding pitch was flat and close to water tap. Toilet block was spotless at all timss very near to all pitches. Site was clean and tidy with no noise from farm workers or machinery. Bus stop a short walk away for short ride into whitby petrol station 5 mins away with shop selling usual items. Will recommend this site and have just booked 3 nights again.

Overall a great site- Will be going back next time we're heading to Whitby.
Cost-
Pricing structure looks a little complicated on first glance, but once you've spent a moment or two, it's clear and well set out. At least you know exactly what you are paying for up front, and there are no additional nasty surprises.
Prices are quite reasonable for the area, especially given the facilities included.
Arrival / Setup-
Tenting area is large, generally quite flat and seems to be well drained. There is a slight slope to the site, however this is not enough to cause any issues (that we were aware of- no rolling out of the tent at 5am, or issues with Donkey Kong style barrels). There is a well packed gravel driveway running around the site in a loop, with enough room between the path and the edge for all but the largest (double figure) tents, with a larger space in the middle if you happen to have got 'tent' mixed up with 'circus arena'.
Signing in was easy, having paid everything up front, and I would imagine that it was as easy to do if you had the balance to pay.
Setup was easy enough, no impassable rocks lurking just below the surface.
Facilities-
Toilet / shower block were a very pleasant surprise- much better than a lot of other places I've been to. Kept clean (apart from grass cuttings other people tracked in) and supplied through our stay. 2 showers would possibly get a little busy at peak times, but we had no problems.
Day to Day-
Access to the site is just outside the outskirts of Whitby, meaning that the site is walkable too from the station, if walking is your thing. Also means that getting taxis to and from the site is a quite common thing, though this does mean some of the other residents were not quite as quiet as mice, but given that it was Goth weekend when we went, this was to be expected.
Gates to the site closed at 10pm, but were only latched so caused no issue with returning later.

Stayed here when we had the weather warning for gale force winds.
Yes the site is open to to winds, yes we did loose our Fiamma canopy, but that was our fault for not putting it down before going for a walk.
The site is easy to find and close to Whitby, we walked both days of our stay.
On the down side, the site undulates somewhat and if you do not have blocks with you, you will have to pitch on the exposed pitches.
You are left to your own devices upon arrival, not an issue to us, but could be for some people.
The shower block was clean, but only had two showers and three toilets, I could imagine long waits if the site was busy, but good plus was that showers were free.
I would stay here again, as I now know the lay out and requirements for staying here.
It would be towards the end of the season though, due to the shower and toilet block.
Negative reviews on this site as somewhat harsh.
People must be reminded this is a working farm and is priced accordingly, if you want other facilities, then pay more and go on another site.
Recommended for a chilled out stay, back to basics.

The up side, very good facilities & situated close to Whitby, with very good views of the Abbey. The down side, I was left to own devices to site caravan, was not advised as to where the facilities were, no mention of chocks needed ! as all pitches needed them some more than others. Dogs had to be kept on lead, yet site owners dog was free to wander where it pleased, twice found it in our awning! Nobody checked the barking from dogs in the tent field, had to shout out to get owner to shut dog up. Rubbish strewn under the dividing hedge between the tent & caravan field. Grass on pitches was uncut & quite long, also there was a lot of traffic noise from the A171 Whitby to Pickering road. With a lot of fast traffic on this road made it a bit hazardous to leave farm with unit on tow. So won't be returning

We stayed here for 5 nights during August.
We found it to be a friendly, well managed site.
The hard standing pitches were well spaced out and also gave lovely views across grazing fields of sheep.
The site is quite exposed so when it is windy - it is very windy (!) but this wasn't a problem for us.
The toilet/shower block was always spotlessly clean.
There was some late night noise one night from a local hotel while we were staying there but apart from that it was generally quite quiet.
It was an easy walk into Whitby (20-25 mins for us as fit adults). A local garage was a few minutes walk for newspapers etc so that was really handy.
If you have bikes you can join the Cinder Track cycleway nearby which takes you to Robin Hoods Bay (12 mile return trip). Great fun on a nice day.
We really enjoyed our stay here at Broadings Farm.

This was a great but simple site. You were free to pitch where you wanted and there was plenty of space between the tents. I pitched at the 'top' close to the entrance, toilet/shower block and wash up area - also close to the road. There was some residual noise from the road but nothing to really disturb. It might of been quieter at the 'bottom' of the field. The camping field was mostly flat some slopes but these could be avoided. There wasn't a lot of shelter from the wind so the one windy night was very noisy! I didn't find out about the freezer available for camper use until my last day but there is one. The toilets were always clean and well stocked with soap and toilet paper and the showers were free with plenty of hot water. It's a good 20 minute walk into Whitby but there is a small shop at the garage (5 minutes walk) for milk etc.
As far as I am concerned this is a fantastic site for access to Whitby and excellent walking along the coast and inland - no need to use the car, the public transport is excellent.

Have been to this campsite twice now. The toilet /shower block are kept very clean. The site is very handy for whitby you can walk it in about 30 mins all downhill. The only thing I don't like about the site is I think its a bit exposed especially when its windy, no trees or hedges. But I do like this site and would definitely visit again.

We've just returned from a lovely few nights at Broadings; it's an unpretentious site with good clean facilities and wonderful views across the Esk valley and it's within a 5 minute drive of Whitby.
The site was 'full' over the bank holiday period however it didn't feel crowded and while the camping field does slope in places, you can pitch where you like and find a spot to suit. We were right at the bottom of the site with wonderful views and ideal for capturing the sun from sunrise to sunset.
It has to be mentioned that there was some queuing for the facilities at peak times but if you can go when it's quiet you'll be ok. The showers are warm (and free) and there are 4 electric sockets (also free) for hairdryers/straighteners, etc. There's also a freezer (again free) for freezing of ice packs.
We'll definitely be visiting Broadings again; excellent value for money and care free camping.
