A really good quiet and small site with clean toilets and showers. Pagan activities like sheep and lambs bleating and trees howling in the wind, when there is a wind, add to the effect. Owners leave you alone as do the sheep. Nearest shop is the garage half a mile down the road and to get there is a busy road but once you get there you can get as much petrol as you want. No alcohol, however, which is a shame as the nearest pub - well lucky I brought some vino - pino grigio which was lovely. Yes, would definitely visit this site again.

Wonderful friendly welcome by the owner at the farmhouse. We simply turned up on the day with no fuss whatsoever.
Very clean bathroom facilities, with most excellent hot showers.
Very short walk to the centre of Whitby, but far enough out to be away from any intrusive noise. At the time of our visit, the site was not in high use, but we did note the restrictions on large single sex groups and no doubt would appreciate the absence of such parties.
All in all, we'd recommend this site and would definitely use it again.

We stayed at Broadings Farm for 3 nights over the ‘Royal Wedding’ weekend and it was one of the best camping trips I’ve ever had. Before going, I was a little concerned as some of the previous reviews had stated that the campsite could get seriously windy and the Met Office forecast for that weekend was high winds, but it was actually a glorious weekend, with constant sunshine and very light winds.
On arrival, we were greeted by the friendly and organised owners. We arrived at the same time as several other groups, and booking in was quick, efficient and friendly. We were told to pitch wherever we wanted to so on the advice of some the UKCS forum members headed down to the bottom of the field where it is slightly more sheltered from the wind.
The site is on a gentle slope, and the middle section at the bottom of the field is considerably sloped, however, the ‘Site Full’ sign went up before anyone had to camp on this section, which meant it was a great area for the kids to play on away from the tents and cars. The owner has planted hedges along the side of the site, so once these are more mature, I’m sure they’ll provide more protection from the wind. The views from the site are amazing and in the next field contained lambs which were entertaining to watch.
The toilet block looked relatively new and the ladies had 3 toilets, two showers and 3 washbowls. The washbowls were small and not private and only really suitable for hand washing and teeth brushing. The men’s (I’m told) had two toilets, two showers, two urinals and three sinks.
The whole block was kept spotlessly clean all the time, with plenty of loo roll and hand wash. With the site full, I never had to queue for the loo, although there were queues for the showers in the morning. The showers were ‘wet room’ types with plenty of room and a curtain to separate off the actual shower from your clothes. There was plenty of hanging hooks and a handy little wall mounted fold up seat.
It is about a 30 minute walk into Whitby down the hill although the walk back up would be a bit more demanding. Whitby itself, seem to have improved and become more upmarket since my last visit several years ago, with more upmarket bars and restaurants, it still retains its quaint atmosphere though.
For those that drive in, you have to pay for parking in the harbour, which can be expensive, but there is free car parking in Whitby on the West Cliff. There is a large Co-Op down in the harbour that sells everything you could need food wise, in case you have forgotten to take something with you.
A five minute walk up the road from the campsite there is a garden centre that has an excellent café that does a full English breakfast for £6 which includes tea or coffee. The views from the café over Whitby and the Abbey are fantastic. There is also a car boot sale in the next field every Sunday from Easter Sunday onwards and this appeared very popular.
Overall, our experience at this site was great and we’d definitely go back. If you’re looking for a basic site, which is just a field with a toilet block then this is for you!

This has been the second visit of the year so far and will be going back again. The farmer and his wife are very helpful and polite. The toilet/shower block are immaculate, the only problem is there could be an extra shower cubicle as there were a lot of people staying this time round.
This site gets full but not cramped in. A short walk to Whitby which is a lovely seaside town, there is also a short walk to the village Ruswarp which has a lovely pub that do excellent sunday lunches (on a Wednesday as well as a sunday).

Just spent 3 nights over Easter at a bargain £6.00 pppn in a tent. There were no silly tent size limits, no extras for extensions etc. One couple gave backword at the last minute and their deposit was returned. The farmer always had time to have a chat and was so friendly. The toilet block was cleaned regularly and was modern with 2 toilets and 2 showers plus urinals (gents)and 2 covered washing up sinks with hot water on the end of the toilet block.
On entering the site on the Friday it said it was full but you could of fit double the amount of tents in the field and there would still of been room. Views to the North York Moors are Great On the Saturday we walked into Whitby and as stated before it is a 30 - 40 mins walk. From there we walked onto Robinhoods Bay via the Cleveland Way. On Sunday we spent the morning at the Carboot sale which is only a field up the road from the campsite. In the Afternoon we returned to Whitby and spent a few hours in the Plough at a bargain £1.61 a pint for bitter. Will be returning

A good site walking distance into Whitby, quiet site
We arrived very late, later than expected and the owners were surprised we didn't just set up before trying to find them.
Clean facilities, washing up stand with hot water. We had some sunny days, windy days, perfect for kite flying and few rainy days.
We found plenty to do around Whitby.
As it was end of season there was one field completely empty and we spent hours on it flying the kite,
Would recommend this site. Hard standing pitch was easy to level on etc. Would come again.

What a wonderful couple who run this site. We arrived on the Sunday before Bank Holiday Monday in August. It was very blustery to say the least and lots of people could not even pitch their tents.
The owner took us around at least 3 fields before he found us a safe pitch and we're glad we persevered as the weather got better each day over the Bank Holiday.
I would definitely use this site again - it was about a 40 minute walk into Whitby but a pleasant one. Only one negative to say and that's not about the site but about Whitby - beautiful but just not enough to do for a full week.

We arrived not realising that you had to pre- book your pitch as we only decided to go camping that day we went to the farmhouse the owners we very helpful and said we could stay this time they were very friendly and welcoming the site is spotlessly clean no litter anywhere.
We pitched our tent plenty of room no over crowding. There are no groups of single sex so no party's and noise. We found the site peaceful relaxing and the wc facilities are spotless always being moped and toilets bleached mens and womens lovely hand wash and hand dryer plug socket for hair dryer straightners ect.
Overall we really enjoyed our 2 night stay we have recommended it to 6 people already my parents have a caravan in whitby so its nice to have a nice campsite near them were we can go and meet up with them
We will be going back as much as we can whats left of this year and every weekend next year. Also dogs are welcome as well. A few more bins around site would have been nice but there again it gave the kids something to do.

We didn't book we just turned up on the Friday and there was plenty of space. The gentleman we booked in with was very nice and helpful.
We were told we could pitch anywhere we liked and managed to get a spot not to far away from the shower block. The ground itself was very good. Toilets and shower blocks were very clean. At only a fiver each its very good value for money
The site is located only 20-25 min walk from the centre, and only cost 4.20 in taxi or 5.50 after midnight.
By the sat night the site was full with all kinds of people from families to bikers. All in all this is a very good site with my only complaint being the noise from the road which got quieter as the night went on.
I would recommend this site and I would visit again

Price for this site was £14.00 per night for our motor home with electric hook up. Had a great weekend stay at this campsite. The owners extremely helpful.
Stayed on the Electric hook up part with our motorhome. Bad points if you call them that. The fresh water pipe points were hidden from view when cars or caravans were parked in front. You would need a very long hose pipe to reach your van.
Had to drive to the water pipe point near the shower unit on the tent field to fill up. The electric hook up points can be hidden in the hedges, also you would need a long electric lead. TV reception good. Also was able to get on the internet with my dongle.
The shower block could do with more than 2 showers each for men and women due to the popularity and size of this site. Some waiting was experienced but not too cumbersome as was not rushing anywhere.
The shower blocks were clean and plenty of loo roll. Rubbish bins were located near exit points and was collected twice daily. There was plenty of room to the side of the motor home for an awning and you still didn't encrouch on your neighbours space.
Although the site was very kid friendly could not see an actual designated play area for the kids, but if they take their own bat and ball stuff then not a problem. You do need to take a torch with you if you come back late at night.
Road noise didn't affect us at all, although the site is on a very busy main road. Noise from other campers was kept to a minimum after 10.30pm.
The locality is great, only half hour walk into the centre of Whitby. Caught the 93 bus back from town centre and the driver stopped right outside the caravan park following my request to let me know when we reached there. Cost £4.50 for 2 adults and 2 kids plus 1 dog. Not sure where the stop is if you wanted to catch the bus into town.
The pub that was 5 min walk away you definitely have to book if you want to eat there sat evenings and dress up as the interior is really really nice (Turing up at 7pm dressed in walking gear some what lowered the tone, so did not stay to eat as we felt certainly under dressed!) Unfortunately do not take dogs inside. I'm sure that if you ate outside dogs would be allowed.
Another bonus for me was the great car boot sale in the next field to the caravan site, this runs on Sundays and Weds. A nice big one, starts from Sun 6am and runs I think til 12pm. Weds 10am - 3pm. Great burger bar and very reasonable. Will definitely return to the campsite if we are in the area.
