Have just returned from a stay at Broadings Farm. There were two tents in our party one for myself and my husband and one for my Daughter, her Husband and their two children and their dog. The site is ideally located for Whitby and Ruswarp and there is a really nice although a bit pricey restaurant nearby. There is also a nearby garage which sells milk and coffe etc. The facilities on the site are modern and clean including ladies gents and disabled toilets and showers. The site is divided into 2 fields one for Caravans and one for Tents. There is plenty of room for the children to play with ball games or flying kites etc. The site itself is really good with magnificent views. However the downside to this site is the wind which is tremendous and howled every night and some of the day because the site is on the top of the moors with no shelter. We were booked for a 3 night stay and ended up coming home a day early as when we returned on the third day 3 other tents had blown down in the wind, One of which was completely ruined and had to be put into the bin. It was really difficult dismantling the tent and packing everything up in the wind but we thought it was the safest option for us. I would definitely not go to this site again purely because of the wind.

Hi Folks, just returned from a couple of nights at this excellent site. Toilet/shower block was clean, busy but no long queues and showers are free. Plenty of space on site so no need to trip over guy ropes although the usual numpties still did :-) The views are outstanding, right across Whitby from the top of the field and across the hills looking south (ish). Didn't do the walk into Whitby as I knew it would be up hill all the way back, don't let that put you off though, just look behind you every so often and enjoy the view. I'll be returning for another visit when I'm heading that way again. Bill.

We stayed for two nights at this campsite, there was very little shelter for our tents and the pitches were mostly sloping, two ladies showers are inadequate for the whole site but because we went in low season we did not have to queue! But this would be a problem in high season. The grass was quite long. We also had a visit from the farms dog although it clearly states that all dogs must be on a lead! Noisy road traffic was a problem but what made our stay really miserable was the insistent noise from the farm machinery approximately 20 feet from our tent! The owners were re flooring a barn in the next field so we were woken up at 8am both mornings to the sound of a JCB clearing a floor and the farm workers shouting to each other, and this went on all day until about 4pm, I don't know who 'graham' is but all I could hear was his name being shouted on and off all day ! Grrrr. I know it is advertised as a working farm but the owners must have known about the building work being done and it would have been nice to have been warned and to be advised to pitch at the opposite side of the field where the noise wasn't too bad ! We will not be staying here again thank you very much for ruining our weekend, we went home and slept for a solid five hours after our early morning wake ups!

We have just returned again from broadings farm, this was our fourth year, we love the site & whitby so much that we go every year for my birthday at the end of July.
The site is excellent & you be hard pushed to find somewhere as nice as this and with great toilet & shower facilities.
Our children love playing on the big tree at the bottom of the site.
Walkable distance of Whitby, make sure you visit Beckett's cafe, it is a lovely coffee shop which has bookcases full of books for you to read from & also sells the best paninnis & cakes, dogs are also welcome.
The nearest pub is up the road. Called cross butts, it's very nice, with a lovely area upstairs & outside.
Overall a great site, we will be back year after year.

Me and my wife have returned from a great week here, it's lovely and peaceful, great views. A few minutes by car into Whitby. There's a car boot sale every Sunday in the next field. Great. There's a garage just down the road for papers etc, and the other way is a nice pub but the meals are on the dear side. There's water and hook up between every other pitch. Me and my wife loved this site and we will return.

This was our first time camping in Whitby. We chose Broadings Farm as it was central to the area we wanted to explore and we wanted to stay on a smaller, quieter site. The first thing that struck us was the beautiful views all around as we entered the site. We watched some beautiful sunsets, but the slight downside was that it can get very windy when the weather turns. The owners of the site are very friendly and helpful. The site was very clean and peaceful. The toilet block is well equipped and clean. We stayed for 8 days and there was plenty of space between the tents during the week. At the weekend the site was full to capacity (glorious weather, beginning of summer holidays) and the site felt a little bit crowded. It was also difficult to get into one of the two showers in the female toilet block in the evenings at the weekend. There is a freezer available to refreeze your freezer blocks. The site is in walking distance of Whitby, although we preferred to drive to the Abbey car park and explore Whitby from there. Whitby and all of the surrounding area are beautiful and we explored different villages and areas every day. Broadings Farm suited our needs very well and we would definitely go again.

Have just returned home from this lovely camp site yet again, this was our second visit this year. We regularly go to this site as it is clean, amenity block is kept immaculately clean, it can get a little busy when the site is full. A good 20 minute walk into whitby and beautiful views, a taxi back from the town is approximately £5. 00. Dave and Margaret are very friendly and are very welcoming. As a bonus there is a massive car boot sale every Sunday for those who are interested.

An excellent site that perfectly suited our needs - clean and quiet. We felt very relaxed with the freedom of the arrangements; an open field without marked pitches or instructions. This may have been enhanced as it was not a busy time.
The toilet block was spacious, with good basins and vanity area, mirrors and a power socket for hairdryer.
A dustbin by the washing up sink would have been useful.
The proximity to Whitby added to our pleasure in staying here and we intend to return.

We stayed here early May bank holiday but despite this the site was nice and quiet. The field was very spacious so there was plenty of room for everyone to rest or play.
Toilet and showers were always clean and we never had to queue. Just a bit annoying that some caravanners were using them - us tenters have no option!
The nearby Cross Butts (gastropub) serves excellent food. Be prepared to pay a bit extra but trust me the food is really, really nice.
Whitby is an easy walk in and only has a handful of 'chain' shops.
If you check your OS map, there's also some nice walks 'from the door'.
Lovely site and can't wait to go back.

Just stayed at this lovely little site within walking distance of Whitby - no need to use your car! Takes about 20 mins to walk into Whitby - turn left at the roundabout near the garage and cut through the housing estate.
Whitby is a super little seaside town with lots of character, pubs, places to eat and walks along the seafront. Not forgetting Whitby Abbey which is also worth a visit.
Site had plenty of space for tents even on this lovely Bank holiday weekend. Space for children to play too - no miserable wardens asking them to stop flying kites, kicking balls etc.
Quite a windy site but has nice views across the countryside. If you have a wind breaker - take it.
Good facilities, showers were very good and free, sockets in the toilets for using hair dryers etc.
A great little site for a weekend break or longer.
