Arrived in a fog shrouded Whitby to a friendly welcome from the lady in the farm house. There had been a huge amount of rain fall and some of the site was a little boggy but we could choose where to pitch so that wasn't a problem. We were anticipating that it would be very waterlogged and muddy but it was actually fine.
There were no pitch markings or hook ups which meant that you could choose exactly where to put the car and tent and which way to point your tent door - I am sure that you could get a good view of the abbey and the valley if it wasn't foggy! There was a separate field for motorhomes and campervans.
The toilet/shower block was generally very clean and it was great that there were free electric sockets - never seen so many ladies with hair straighteners on a campsite! 2 'free' hot push-button showers and 3 toilets. There was a washing up area with a canopy over.
We didn't try the walk into Whitby as we discovered that a 24hr parking ticket for the town was £6 so we visited 3 times on the same ticket, which we reckoned was cheaper than taxis back. I think it would certainly take you a good half hour to walk back from the sea front.
My only concern was the big sign for the car boot sale in the next door field - which never happened due to the rain - how noisy could it be? I would definitely recommend a G&T at the Marine Piano bar next to the Fortune teller!
All in all for £12 a night I think the site was very good value and we will certainly be returning.

Another fantastic stay at Broadings farm!
The campsite is situated just outside Whitby which leaves you with a pleasent stroll into the town.
The facilities here are second to none shower/toilet are spotless and constantly being updated (fourth year visiting here and its been refurbed each time).
The owners are very friendly and helpful, they have rabbits running freely around the field which is pleasent to watch.
The field is pretty flat with good pitches allround and a great view of the Abbey and surrounding hills.
Just up the road is The Stables pub/restuarant which serves really good food a bit on the pricy side but well worth it.
Just down the road is a petrol station which sells the essentials(we shop in town)its cheaper.
Broadings Farm is one of our favourite sites which is why we return regular and will continue to do so.

Me my partner and 2 year old went on our first camping trip to broadings farm and it was brilliant. Quick and easy check in with a lovely lady. I think because of the time of year there was only us and a caravan on another field to begin with so had a big field to choose where to set up so we chose in front of the shower block. The shower block was lovely and clean and hot water with power points so I even got to straighten my hair and charge my phone up! The farmer was absolutely lovely, very approachable and went out of his way to let me and my son go and watch some lambs being born which was excellent. The weather was gorgeous so we went for a walk into whitby which took about 25 minutes and a bit longer on the way back as its all uphill and pushing a pram. Overall we were very pleased we picked this place as a first camping trip and I can't wait to go back in the summer.

Very welcoming site only a short walk from town, only had one shower block so best go early to avoid the queues however showers are free and hot. Didn't ask for a hook up pitch so were just told to find a place on the field and despite it being busy we found a good spot, it can be hilly in parts but not enough to make you feel like you're sleeping downhill! The site was very clean and had some great views, it doesn't appear to have that many pitches so book early to avoid disappointment. Will definitely be visiting again

Just had a few day days at this camp site. Owners very friendly. Only two toilets and two showers always kept very clean. Also in the toilet block are two plugs to dry your hair.
The camp site is on the main road and quite a lot of road traffic noise during the day and at night.
Dog friendly can walk the dog in the next field.
If you don't mind walking it is about 25 min walk into town. Leaving the camp site to walk into town you are quite close to the main road as there is not a footpath. Everyone is very friendly and helpful with information.

Just come back from 2 night stop. It was Whitby Regatta weekend and as such the site was full.
The site itself is clean but basic. Only 2 toilets and 2 showers per gender so lots of queueing when site full. Considering the price though you can't really expect much more.
Took us 45 mins to walk into Whitby, going at a 2 year old's pace. Got a taxi back at a cost of £5 and a time of 5 mins.
Would recommend taking into account the price and location to Whitby, but if returning would choose a weekend that wasn't the Regatta.

There are only a few serviced pitches for caravans and were in a separate field. There was another field for caravans with no power pitches. There is then another field for tents. All pitches are grass and have a lovely view. The pitches are quite sloping.
It is around 30 minutes walk into Whitby. We would normally walk but it was a pretty wet and windy day so we drove in.
The site itself is exposed so can be windy. My sister and husband were in a tent and ended up packing up and going home. It was really windy and a few tents had problems.
The site itself is quite basic with no shop or laundry The toilet/shower block was clean with lots of hot water. It is really good value considering how close it is to Whitby. There is a lovely restaurant around 5 minutes walk from the site - The Stable Bar. It was expensive but really nice food.
Whitby has lots to do. It was very busy even in the bad weather. The Magpie fish restaurant still had a queue but worth the wait.
Would definitely recommend this site.

Great site, would probably visit again. Lovely few of the surrounding area.
Plenty of room to pitch up. Pegs go in without many problems. The site is fairly level. The outside filled up first so we pitched in the middle of the field. This would have been lovely apart from it was the only place for kids to play and balls were frequently hitting the side of our tent.
The toilet block was always clean and well kept. There was always toilet paper and the showers were free and hot. Only 2 ladies showers though which could cause quite a queue in the mornings. There was also a power point in the bathroom which people were using for hair dryers, kettles, charging phones etc - very handy!
There are 2 washing up sinks next to the toilet block.
Caravans were in the next field.
Great recycling facilities including one for disposable BBQ's. Bricks were also available to put your BBQ's on [only charcoal - no open fires allowed].
We didn't walk into Whitby as the hill back up seemed quite steep and would take some time!
Driving in and parking seemed fine. It's £5 for 24 hours up by the Abbey or £6 for 24 hours next to the Co-op. You can pay less of course if you are only staying an hour or so. The car parks stopped charging at 6pm.

It was the first time we had visited Broadings and we agreed that the site was beautiful and had wonderful scenery surrounding it, the facilities were exceptionally clean and well kept, site owners were very approachable and friendly.
We would highly recommend this site to everyone, including those with young families, with its safe and pleasant surroundings and peaceful atmosphere.
We spent the weekend at Broadings and were so impressed with the facilities it provided that we booked to stay an extra night.

A group of 7 of us stayed here for a walking weekend at the end of July. The site is a well maintained field on the outskirts of Whitby with views over a valley (you cant see the sea!). Nicely cut grass and pretty open, so can be windy but at least no midge problem!
The facilities were good, the owners friendly, and they do put up the campsite full sign when it's starting to get crowded rather than cram as may in as possible.
On the minus side there can be some noise at night from the nearby A171 and the camp has a car track looping through it, so not totally child or dog friendly.
Next door is a pub but we we went into Whitby for food saturday night (a very wide range of places to eat) and caught a taxi back to the site with 3 of us splitting a £7 fare.
We would use this site again, so I guess that's the main recommendation!
