We chose this site as our first try at camping for our family due to the positive reviews.
We agreed with it all.
Great location, good clean facilities, friendly staff.
We took our dogs too as did many others but their was never any sign of people not cleaning up after them.
The best bacon sandwiches were from the booth next to the dock and great value. The best fish and chips we had were from the magpie take-away.
Having two dogs in tow and liking a drink we were please to see a number of pubs accepted well behaved dogs. We used the Black Horse. The staff were friendly, beer good, tapas good but the prices a bit high but this was in common with most of the pubs. However they do need to make money while the season is busy.
It's a shame the garage down the road doesn't sell beer etc but it is only 20 minutes to the town centre.
We will go back regularly.

Had a good time at this campsite. The greeting from the owner was lovely. Although on the first night the toilets ran out of loo roll.
We went to the NYM steam railway which the girls loved (3 year old twins)and on the Sunday we went into Scarborough for the day
The Sunday was very windy and when we got back the wind had ripped the back section of the tent straight off and my friends tent was also destroyed.
If you are going with a big tent be very aware of the comments on here regarding wind and do not pitch anywhere other than in a protected area.
Even though it ended in disaster we still had a great weekend and a new tent is on order!

Fantastic location, 20 min walk into Whitby. Beautiful views, very friendly owners, facilities very clean and kept to a high standard, I witnessed the toilet area getting cleaned twice in one day.
There was some road noise but nothing that you cant sleep through.
We pitched our tent at the top of the hill which was really windy one day, which actually made one of our tent poles snap and we had to go shopping for another one, but wouldn't put us off pitching at the same place again.
On day 1, we played a game of football in the rain which was great fun as there was a fare bit of free space but by night 2 there was more tents, not over crowded plenty of space between tents. The farmer even let us into the next field to play a game of rounders.
On night 2 they was a lot of noise coming from one tent, which the farmer went over and stopped it as it is a family campsite too, which to be honest I was glad about.
Very friendly, nice respectable place and will definitely go back

I was happy to make a reservation at a Broadings Farm because I found out that it was run by the same family who used to run a B&B at Cross Butts Farm next door. I have happy memories staying there as a child on family holidays - the owners were lovely.
We stayed at Broadings farm over the Wit week half term.
There was plenty of space a the pitches and the facilities were good and pretty clean. No queues either. My only gripe (as with many campsites) is that the wash basins/ showers were in the same space as the toilets (which always reek of urine). Not very pleasant when you are brushing your teeth.
The location is good and the road is surprisingly quiet at night. The walk to Whitby was only 20 mins with a Spar and a petrol station nearby.
It was a shame that there were no nice walks or footpaths near the site.

A brilliant site with plenty of space. The 'Site Full' sign goes up well before it gets crowded. The owners are very friendly and work hard at keeping the facilities clean. Sometimes a short wait for showers, but never more than a couple of minutes.
Safe site for kids to run about and fly kites, etc. Easy walk into Whitby along coast path, but no direct access to other walks. Lidl's a very short walk/drive.
Only caution is: be careful where you pitch your tent and make sure you're well pegged down, as it can get very windy sometimes. Very reasonable cost. Good DAB and mobile broadband reception. All in all - a great site if you're happy with good, clean, basic provision without trimmings. We will definitely go back.

We went for 4 nights from the 9th to the 12th and I do not have a bad word to say about anything really.
The owners were very welcoming and friendly so the welcome was fabulous, they also could be seen daily whilst wandering round the campsite talking to the guests.
We could choose our own pitch, which I thought was great, except for the last couple of days where one family decided to pitch very close to our tent, which became a bit of a problem with their noise levels.
We were near (ish) to the main road, however I heard no noise from it really, my partner said he noticed it early morning when the lorries went by, but I can honestly say I noticed nothing.
The shower and toilet block was clean and kept to a lovely standard. The showers were 50p but that was a long hot shower and gave me plenty of time. One night there was a problem with the electrics and the toilets were in darkness, however the owner stood outside with a torch until the electricians came.
The wash basins were also very clean and accessible and there was very little queuing for any of the facilities.
No litter, clean site, well kept.
Whitby was a short walk into town, 20-25 minutes would do it and I had a bad knee at the time. I would recommend all of whitby, robin hood's bay, sandsend (for fossiling) and the south end of scarborough (that's where are the seaside attractions are.) parking can be a bit tricky so take change for the meters, unless your up for a walk. I would absolutely recommend Jane's cafe over the bridge in whitby for a breakfast, there's a fabulous sweety shop and an excellent tobacconist with flavoured tobacco. All of the people in whitby were very friendly.
Drop into the Victorian image photo shop as well. The guy there is hilarious and its a great laugh and loads of fun to dress up and have some photos taken! wonderful holiday!

We went up as a group of 4 adults for the bank holiday weekend in 2 tents.
When reading this please bear in mind that we go camping regularly but usually in France and French campsites provide a vast quantity of facilities compared to UK sites.
The site is a small farm and 2 fields. The main field is for tents and, although slightly sloping, is very roomy. The smaller is for caravans and has hook ups. Be warned- it is very exposed and you will need to choose your pitch carefully. The top corner near the entrance is to be avoided due to the wind and the constant road noise.
There is a shower block consisting of male and female areas, with 3 sinks, 2 toilets and 2 showers in each. The can be 50 tents on the field and so I consider this to be insufficient for the numbers however, the site was full and I only had to queue for a couple of minutes for the showers. I frequently had to queue for the toilets. The shower costs 50p for 7 minutes and only accepts 50p coins. On the outside of the block there are two sinks for washing up.
If you bring children with you be aware there is nothing to entertain them beyond what you bring yourself, but lots of room for them to run around.
The owners of the site are absolutely lovely and very welcoming.
Positive points.
1. Owners are lovely.
2. Fantastic location.
3. Very cheap- £5 pp pn.
4. No hookups for tents, only caravans.
Negative
1. Wash facilities insufficient for the numbers.
2. There were campers arriving (drunk) and being very loud late at night whilst we were there- it gave me great pleasure to yell outside their tents early in the morning to wake them up just like they woke me up at 2am!
3. Very very windy and little shelter.
Would I go back? Yes I probably would but would take additional heating and choose a pitch at the lowest point on the field.

We visited this site at the August bank holiday weekend with our two young children, we originally booked for two nights but only stayed for one. On arrival we were not shown to a pitch but told to drive down the field and pitch where we wanted.
There wasn't a lot left and I think if you have booked in advance better pitches should be reserved. The field is on a slope and everything was rolling to one side of the tent.
As for the wind on this site it was horrendous, I know no one can do anything about nature but the owner has not planted hedges to act as a windbreak. Our tent was wrecked in the wind.

Returned from our trip today after staying at Braodings Farm for 6 mights. It is a fantastic location only a 20 min walk into Whitby or a five minute drive. However the nights we walked down we got a taxi back up which never cost more than £4.50
It has wonderful views of the Abbey and surrounding areas which to sit out in a night is fab.
When arriving we were met by very friendly owners, who were welcoming and made everything clear. The owners were excellent, even sweeping out the shower/toilets after a rain shower when grass had been trampled in! Great service!
The facilities very clean and kept to a high standard. There were no complaints in this area at all.
The site does get pretty windy but with a decent tent pegged down correctly you wont have a problem!
The showers, are 50p to use for about 10 mins which gives you plenty of time and you can set to the temperature that you want. I didn't have to queue up for a shower once during our stay, neither did I for the toilets. Plenty of loo roll and soap at all times.
There is a separate outdoor (but sheltered) washing up area which was used frequently but again we never had to queue.
The bins are up at the top of the farm but easy to access when walking to go out etc.
A garden centre and pub just up the road from the site about a five min walk. Garden centre do cooked breakfasts.
Petrol station a 2min drive from the camp site which was ideal.
Each Wednesday and Sunday there is a huge car book sale in the next field.
It was myself and my fiance who went although it was a family friendly site and the ideal location to take along children.
The site was set as full, however there was plenty of room, probably two car lengths between the next tent and ourselves.
Fantastic value for money compared to other sites in the area!

Fantastic location, 20 min walk into Whitby. Beautiful views, friendly owners, facilities very clean and kept to a high standard.
Two plug sockets in the ladies which are free to use. Showers, 50p for about 10 min use. Separate washing up area that we never had to queue for. 1 water tap in the camping field and two small bins.
Each Sunday there is a huge car book sale in the next field.
Family friendly site!
Very good value for money compared to other sites I've visited.
No complaints - I will certainly return!
