Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Broadings farm - very nice site with good facilities.
The showers have recently gone up to 50p but that's no problem - nice and hot water and open all the time, outside washing up facilities and of course toilets - everything you need.
When we stayed there; there were only a couple of other tents in the field so it was nice and quiet and load of room to fly my kite :).
Loads to do locally - Whitby Abbey - Whitby town - sea food restaurants - Yorkshire moors inc' Goathland - only went there for a walk we saw in a guide book did not realise it was Heartbeat town.
We also popped to York and went to the Yorvik Centre (Vikings) and York abbey - nice day out.
Great pub / restaurant just up the road - think it's called the stables.
Recommended site.

We have just come back from this site and were disappointed with the standards. It said all caravan places were hard standing this was a handful of rubble thrown on some long grass and half of the pitches were on a slope.
The shower block was new I think but was never cleaned when we were there and the windows open full blast in a force ten gale! If you didn't freeze to death in the actual block which has no heating you will do in the showers which having paid 50p for were stone cold.It is in a nice spot and close to whitby but a bit more attention to detail would have been nice. The camping field was actually better than the caravan area.We wont be rushing back.

I stayed at Broadings Farm in may whilst doing a solo tour around the north east coast. I was met at the door by a friendly lady who told me where to camp.I was the only one in the field that night. With my mallett & stanley knife in my hand haha! Very nice site with wonderful views over the moors. Make sure you take good pegs because I can imagine it getting a bit wild when the wind really gets up! The views of Whitby are lovely& the town itself is well worth a visit & full of friendly people. I paid 5 pounds to camp for me & my 2 man tent which I thought was very reasonable. A new shower block was just being completed and was very nice & clean. When next over the east coast this would be a site I would return to without question.

We arrived on the friday afternoon to some beautiful weather and were taken aback with the views from the camp site, very friendly people and sheep, even the little white cat came to say hello. The campsite is basic but that is what camping is about, the shower/toilet block very clean, very quite at night thankfully. The walk into Whitby itself is around 20 minutes and the coastal walk from Whitby/Robin Hoods bay will take you around 2/3hrs. Well worth staying here £22 for two adults for two nights with showers can't beat it. Will definitely be coming back to this one.

This site is superbly located and an absolute bargain at £5 per person. The owner was really friendly and you can't beat the views - get up at sunrise to see the sun come up over The Abbey and you'll see what we mean!
The facilities are clean and well kept and the town centre is just a good walk away - bit harder coming back as uphill but we reckon it would be cheap in a taxi. There is a fab antiques fair/car boot held right near the camp site most Sundays - a must to browse around.
My only advice is book early as we haven't managed to get in a weekend this summer yet - even with all this rain! The owner will always do her best to accommodate you but they are really popular, especially in the school holidays.

Lovely site, you pitch where you like when you arrive. Field nicely sloping and smooth, perfect for tents - we liked the way tents and caravans are kept in separate fields. It is an exposed site in the wind, pitch your tent with care - several looked pretty worse for wear after a day of strong gusts and we had to re-pitch ours, but once it was facing the wind was much better.
Toilet block is new, kept exceptionally clean and well stocked with plenty of loo roll & soap. 50p for showers good value (about 10 mins and hot), and there's a seat and plenty of hooks to hang your stuff on. Owners were friendly but generally left everyone to it which was nice - they were happy for us to leave our car on site after we packed up while we went into Whitby for the day.
As others have said, easy walk into Whitby, there's a garage 10 mins down the hill for milk and bread (and has a cash machine).
Great site, will return.

What a fantastic site. Spotless, great owners, very pleasant and helpful. Good 20 minute yomp down to Whitby, not for the faint hearted! Hills don't ya know!
Toilets, 2 showers, 50p a go. Not bad but needed to last a bit longer for the ladies! Many swear words heard upon loss of water!
Fantastic views. Pub off to the left, bout 3 minute walk, didn't try it tho.
Car boot sale on a Sunday in the next field. A real good one with many bargains!
We will most definitely be back!

This was a lovely site.
Very good value for money! £12.00 for two adults and electric has been the cheapest campsite we have found.
The toilet facilities were really good - Very clean with lots of space to put your things.
Very clean site with lots of space in pitches - you don't feel crammed at all.
Showers were 50p but this lasted for ages and were very good - Lots of space in shower cubicle.
Only a 20 minute walk from Whitby but you can take the alternate route along the cliffs which takes a lot longer but is definitely worth the extra walk. (about 40-50 minutes at a slow pace!)
We will definitely be returning to this site.

We visited this site for 3 nights on the first week in august. Great views from the site. Toilet block and showers are clean and tidy ,the field slopes so is good for drainage in bad weather. Touring caravans are in a separate field to tents.
Bad points (my view only)
1. Only one water tap at top of field
2. No shop on site
3.Bad smell when wind blows from bottom of field
4. When we visited thousands of flies invaded site
5. No park/swings etc for the kids to play in
Saying that this is still a nice campsite run by really nice people and situated a five minute drive from the centre of whitby

Just returned from a fantastic weekend at Broadings Farm.
The site owners were very welcoming and friendly.
We paid £5 per night per adult and £3 per night per child.
The tent field is on a slight slope, and has breathtaking views of the Moors. We could hear the North Yorkshire Moors Railway steam trains chuffing by in the distance, which was charming.
Very friendly sheep in the field next door, which the children found very amusing!
A big tree provided an excellent climbing frame for all the boys on the camp, overall I found this to be an excellent camp for kids who played happily together in the spacious field.
Allowed to pitch where we chose, plenty of space to choose from. Most people seemed to choose the top end of the field, some campers had chosen to pitch at the bottom for added privacy.
The showers/toilets/dishwashing facilities were basic, but modern and immaculatly clean. Perfectly adequate. 50p for a shower seemed perfectly reasonable, I couldn't tell you how long it lasted as I'd always finished before it ran out!
The only thing I would have wished for that could have improved my visit would have been a facility for freezing iceblocks for my coolbox.
Whitby itself is a delight. About a twenty minute walk from the site(we've been visiting for years in bed and breakfasts). Picturesque fishing town with plenty to do whatever the weather. It's how all seaside towns should be!
We were very lucky with the weather, so spent a lot of time on the stunning beach.
We'll definitely be returning to Broadings Farm, I highly recommend it.
