Superb location, only a mile from Whitby. Great views over Whitby Abbey and North York Moors.
As other reviewers have said, site is just off main road, so there is some road noise during the night.
Toilets very good. Only 2 showers (50p) in both Male& female, although rarely did I have to wait and site was full. (approx 30 tents?)
Tent pitches are on a slight slope, but most people found a good pitch.
We had great weather, so no probs with wet grass.
There is a garage across the road for Milk, Cash machine etc and an Lidl and Spar within 0.5 miles. Very handy indeed.
Advantages
- Location to Whitby and views
- Good clean toilets / showers
- Friendly staff
- Plenty of animals for children
- Good space for kids games, although no park
Disadvantages
- Only one water tap (apart from washing up area)
- Small rubbish bins - often full
- No recycling facilities
- Road noise.
Would definitely recommend if visiting area.

A good well run campsite. The location is close enough to Whitby to be walkable, taxi back at £5. However this does put the site right on the Gainsbourough road, so road noise make it not the quietest campsite. The views from the site are stunning.
The facilities are kept clean and tidy. As the site was full there was a queue most mornings due to the low number of shower units. The showers take 50p pieces, which provides a lot of hot water. The temperature of the water was dependent on what other draw was being made on the supply leading to blasts of hot and cold.
Again being a bank holiday and not being an expensive site there were a few 'weekenders' not campers. The owners were very good though at enforcing the no music after 10 rule and asked politely for groups to be quiet, which was then observed.
As others have said being in the open and between the sea and the moors one very windy day did see some tents being blown down.

It was a good site close to whitby. As said owners where very helpful. Toilet and shower block cleaned twice a day showers 50p but lots of hot water for your money.
Will be back again sorry to leave. Only problem was the the site been exposed to the wind and wind was bad but views made up for the wind. There is no shop on site but the owner directed us to the nearest shop 2 minutes away.

I would definitely recommend this campsite. The owners were lovely and kept the site really clean and tidy. They were even seen changing the loo roll at 11pm. Ideal for use as a base for visiting whitby, as its only a 20min walk, or only 5 in the car. It would have been even better had there been a park, or somewhere for the kids to play football.
The owners ask that music etc is off by 10pm and noise is kept to a minimum after 11pm, on the 1 occasion that another group were making a noise after 11 they were asked very nicely to quieten down.
We will definitely visit this site again. The views from the campsite looking down into whitby were beautiful.

First time we've been camping for about eight years, and the first time we've taken the kids (five and six), and dog. Weather was great, and we received a warm, friendly greeting from the owners on arrival.
Shower / toilet blocks were clean and were kept so throughout our stay. Road noise, as stated in other reviews, was a bit of an issue on our first night, but to be honest, was barely noticeable once we had got used to it.
We made the mistake of pitching close to the toilet block, presuming it would be more convenient for the kids, but ended up regretting it due to the noise some of the less considerate campers made during the early hours.

Lovely site, friendly owners and it's great for the weekend, as the owner has restricted it to 50 tents, so you never looked squashed in like sardines. The toilet block was clean and the water always hot and the showers were brill (cost 50p) but the water supply seemed endless.
The views are wonderful and the walk into Whitby is great, all downhill but caught the bus (No 93) back, which cost £1.50 each or a taxi which was £4.80.
There's a restaurant (The Stables) 5 mins up the road and plenty of Fish and Chip shops in Whitby, which if you haven't been to before then you should go it's lovely.
The owner also supplies slabs for you if you have a BBQ think every one on the campsite did and must of seen the smoke for miles.
If you want a site which is peaceful and has a wonderful view for 360 degrees the get yourselves to Broadings Farm it's Fab!

We stayed at Broadings Farm for 2 nights with our two kids (aged 5 & 1), my sister, her partner and three kids (aged 7, 4 & 2). We had a great time. The lady on reception was very polite and could not have been more helpful.
The site is perfect for those who want to get away from it all and do not need entertaining. It is very close to the road into Whitby but we pitched as far away from it as possible and we didn't hear much noise from it at all. Just the odd bit. Mainly we heard all the sheep in the field next to us which was nice
The toilet block looks to be brand new and was very clean. Water was nice and hot. There are two washing up sinks but as this is not a large site there was never a wait for them or any of the toilet facilities.
The field is quiet open and could possible be a problem when it is really windy but they seem to have planted some trees to the side so when these mature a bit this will solve this problem nicely.
We had a bbq on our first night and on the Saturday went down into Whitby (Short walk) better to walk that take the car because it is hard to find a parking spot and it is quite expensive to park. On Saturday we enjoyed some fantastic fish and chips from one of the many spots in town.
On Sunday we visited the car boot sale in the next field. We asked the lady on reception if we could leave our van whilst we had a look around before we went home and she said it wasn't a problem.
All in all a perfect weekend. Very easy to find! We will definitely be returning but next time we will be bringing our dog! :)

Second visit to this site. Very welcoming owners. Site is basic in terms of amenities but shower / toilet block / pot washing area is very clean and tidy. Shower block is not heated but does have 2 plug sockets in ladies and shaver sockets in mens. Downside to showers is they cost 50pence (50p coin only) but you do get lots of hot water and they last ages! 3 toilets / 2 showers in ladies and 2 toilets / 2 showers / 2 urinals in mens.
This is a working farm so if you want total peace and quiet from animal noises then this probably is not for you. Very close to Whitby and easily walkable (taxi is approximately £5).
A restaurant is not far up the road which serves hot/cold food and approximately 5/10 minute walk is a petrol station with a small shop and cash machine. A lovely site with a very warm welcome and excellent base for Whitby, Scarborough, North Yorkshire Moors and York.

Just spent 2 nights at this campsite. Site is clean & grass kept well. Only thing is the noise from the seagulls, traffic & sheep also gave me disturbed sleep in the early hours. So if you are a light sleeper I wouldn't stay here. Nothing for kids to do.
Price was not too, bad £5 for adults and £3 for kids a night. We were told we could choose anywhere on the campsite so that was good. So nice campsite if you can sleep through the noise.

Just returned from the campsite. Stayed from good Friday to Easter Monday and what a brilliant site it is. Cost £33 for 2 adults and one child, fantastico!
View is beautiful, facilities excellent, the owners warm and friendly. Site very clean and tidy. Only a 15 minute walk into whitby, and lovely pub called the stables 2 minutes walk away. Recommend this site to anyone, will definitely be returning.
