June 2004 We've just come back from Hurley & this was our 3rd visit there. We love Hurley. It's so spacious, plenty of room for the children to play, the walk up by the river is so lovely, plenty of wildlife to see. The people running it are so nice & polite. It just has a good holiday & relaxed feel about it. The water pressure in the sinks was still full on the same as last year, as other people have mentioned but that didn't spoil our visit! Well worth a visit & I'm sure we'll be returning before the year is out!

August 2003 This was the very first time we had been camping. 2 adults and 2 kids, 7 & 3yrs and I must say that this site was a very pleasureable experience. We stayed for 4 nights in the August heatwave. Well spaced pitches and a nice large open field so that the kids could play right outside the tent but cars could still get past safely.
Showers/toilets were cleaned every morning and as there are 3 blocks spaced about the site they are non too busy. The showers are slightly cramped but I am 6'2" and hey this is camping.
Well positioned for Legoland and train stations into London for days out as we did. Nice river walks right by and Henley-On Thames just down road. You will enjoy this site, I promise.

August 2003 I was surprised at some of the complaints about this site, it is only a 3 pennant site after all. Having said that, I would like to add my two-penneth, after this, our second 10-day visit, the first being in the same month in 2000....
"The modern toilet facilities include free hot water and showers" - their own web site. Granted it was free, though no doubt paid for by the higher than average pitch fees. And granted the water was also hot..... when it was there! Every shower was interupted by a couple of minutes of no flow. Annoying when your hair is full of shampoo. I would also repeat the cleanliness rant. Our blocks were cleaned in the early afternoon, so by morning, they were pretty minging. 3 pennants is no excuse for filth.
If you're willing to put up with that, or if they get their act together, then this site is up there with the best of them. Flat spacious pitches, a good field for a kick about, and one of the best stretches of the Thames around for picnicing and splashing, but look out for the barges if you swim across! A 5 mile walk along the tow-path will bring you to Henley or Marlow, depending on which way you walk. Hurley is a gorgeous little village, though The Old Bell pub has been spoilt since Ramada took it over. It is well placed for the tourist haunts of London, Windsor, Legoland, Chessington, Thorpe Park, Whipsnade, etc.
A bit of investment on the toilet blocks and shop, and this site could easily get its fourth pennant. But until then, I'm afraid we won't be returning.
Oh yes, and there were lots of low-flying aircraft during our stay!

August 2003 Camp is situated in a beautiful location on the River Thames. The pitches are housed in small seperate areas with easy accessable toilet and shower facilities, as other reviews stated water pressure in the showers is too powerful and hot taps are scalding hot, so be careful if you are taking small children. Bins could have been emptied more regularly and although we were advised pitches are 6 metres apart they did seem to allocate pitches close to each other and then leave 3-4 pitches empty on the same field. So not well spaced out. Other than that this site is well worth a visit ideal for visits to Legoland and Windsor, site is very family orientated and lots of space for kids to play and explore, no noise at all at night and everyone very friendly. P.S. shop was closed on site at all times and had to travel to town which is 6-7 miles away as the local shop closes at 5pm.

July 2003 A wonderful location and a pleasant, well maintained site, with the River Thames only a stones throw away.
As to the aircraft noise, I only remember hearing the occasional helicopter. (Most people live under or close to one flight path or another, or next to a road, anyway.)
There is plenty of room for each pitch, so you’re not tripping over each other’s guyropes. My son, for his first time in a tent, had a whale of a time, as there was plenty of room for him to ride his bike or play football.
As to the water pressure from the taps, yes it is high, but if you press two taps on simultaneously the problem is solved. My only problem, well my 3½ sons, was the freezing cold water in the showers, which I was told on leaving, “could be the gas bottles are empty”, but looking at the other reviews, I’m not so sure.
I believe the shop (on site) is completely closed, but the local village is approx 1½ miles away, so this was not a problem, neither were the bins.
My wife, my son and myself will be returning to this site, for a longer period of time, as 4 days was not enough to see all the sites (including Legoland).
I have been to many campsites before, and this is up their with the best of them. Over-all rating I would say was 9/10. (If people require all mod cons then they should stay at home – please remember you are camping.)

April 2003 There is no pleasing some people!!!
We have enjoyed many, many vists to Hurley. It is a lovely site, ideal for children as the pitches are of a good size and there is lots of space for the children to run around.
On all the times we have been to Hurley, and there have been many, never have I found a problem with hygiene!! There has always been plenty of hot water for washing up - I mean my husband has never complained! The toilets are always clean, as are the showers. The showers may be a bit small, but hey, you're camping!!
Situated right on the River Thames we have always found it a perfect site to visit.

August 2002 Great location and excellent site. It is large but as the fields are separated by hedges it is not intrusive.
Clean showers & small shop for essentials.
Will be returning.

July 2002 Very well organised site, very clean and secure with good washing and showering facilities.
The area is lovely with the small village of Hurley about a mile away which is lovely and peaceful and boasts a couple of lovely country pubs.

I spent March to June camping there last year. The site is spacious with separate areas for caravans and tents. Located in the small village of Hurley, it is about halfway between Maidenhead and Henley. Generally quiet, the only distraction is the noise of aircraft flying in and out of Heathrow airport.
Pitches are well maintained and the ground well drained. The toilets and washing areas are immaculate and cleaned every morning. Piping hot water is on tap 24 hours a day.
Hurley village is quiet but does have a small shop, a post office, and a couple of pubs (one with a kids adventure playground). There is a small camp shop on site, but this tends to close rather early. To travel to either Maidenhead or Henley takes about 10 minutes by car, and Windsor can be reached in about 30 minutes.
The site is alongside the River Thames and the scenery is excellent. The Thames Path long distance walking route passes within 100m of the site.
Bank holidays tend to attract a lot of people but otherwise it is rarely more than half full. The warden and his wife were very friendly and helpful.
Overall it is an excellent campsite and well worth a visit.
