We absolutely loved it here and we're going back again next year. Stunning views, clean site and friendly staff. Kids loved the animals and the fact that we were so close to the water. 10/10 The shower facilities were always clean and tidy and easy to access. We used the cafe for ice creams and refreshments during our stay and we're always met with friendly, helpful staff. Plenty to do in the local area, and most is close enough for walking. Close to shops and supermarkets for essentials which we just used for daily bits and bobs. Amenable for dogs too which was nice. Very well kept fields perfect for tents. Loved every second of our stay apart from the weather which unfortunately can't be hepled. Back again in August with a few extras this time

Location
- Morecambe Bay & The Fylde coastal plain
This campsite couldn't be any better placed for access to Morecambe Bay's tidal delights and is only a short drive or coastal walk away from neighbouring villages & towns such as Hest Bank, Morecambe and further afield to Fleetwood and Blackpool on The Fylde.
Facilities
- toilets & showers
Very good toilet block with adequate number of toilet and shower cubicles, urinals, wash basins & hand driers to keep queuing to a minimum on a popular site. Only gripe here would be that showers have a very brief burst timer that needs constant repressing of the button and the need for a third hand whilst lathering hard to reach places, but as this is a good water-saving feature, the awkwardness is forgiveable.
- pitches
Two fields for campers with electrical hook-up spots nearer the farm, one with a bay view, the other with a view of the rolling hills and neighbouring villages - great for trainspotters! Plus a static caravan area, all surrounded by fields for the livestock and the bay. Well looked after, nice and clean, good grass and earth so no battles with tent pegs and stones. We choose the shelter from sea breezes of the substantial hedgerow - plenty of small bird action here and around the farm buildings for twitchers!
- cafe
Fantastic cafe with great food and drink choices, plenty of friendly staff though we felt slightly limited opening hours. Lamb burgers sourced from their livestock are a must. Delicious cakes too. Fair price for the quality.
- pets corner
Little section nestled between the cafe, reception and toilet block with a small family of goats who are happy to take a fuss and a scratch.
Surrounding Area
- Royal Hotel, Bolton-le-Sands & The Hest Bank Inn
Plenty of real ales on pump at the former and a good food menu at the latter, including Lancashire Hotpot & local potted shrimps. We did notice throughout our pub visits (beyond the two named) that neighbouring Yorkshire appears to dominate the small and micro brewery market, with few on offer from Lancashire, despite the alleged historical bitter rivalry. The white rose is winning the battle here.
- Lancaster Canal
Just inland from the coast, this offers an alternate link to neighbouring villages and pubs (via boat, foot or bike), such as the aforementioned two pubs. We enjoyed a canal boat trip that took us over the aqueduct in Lancaster.
- trains
As previously mentioned, the campsite is close to a busy train line serving the coast with a variety of train types and sizes throughout the day and into the night, from single carriage local coast hoppers, multiple carriage express services to massive freight wagon trains. However this didn't disturb as you might fear and was quite pleasant to watch or listen roll or zoom past.
- livestock
Also previously mentioned was the neighbouring fields full of livestock, but if you book at a farm campsite then you've got to expect a bit of mooing, bah-ing and cock crows! Again, this didn't really bother us and the cows only really kicked up a fuss around milking time or whatever. The occasional farmer gaining access to these fields via quad bike, but again, it's a working farm.
Constructive Criticism
- wardens & campers
Not wanting to end on a negative but things did sour a little towards the end of our week's stay as the fields filled up with several multiple car set-ups (of 5+ cars each) who then proceeded to party 'til 3:30am on the Friday night then gone 2am on the Saturday. Given we'd had a warden question my partner's actions when he trimmed a couple of protruding bramble stems when we pitched up, we'd've expected the noise to be curbed to the well advertised ten/half-ten curfew of a family oriented site. Perhaps the potential loss of takings in the cafe from these large groups was too much to risk upsetting them. A real shame as otherwise this site would've got top marks across the board.

Lovely location near to 'beach' (actually rather picturesque mud flats). The site has a few unobtrusive statics, plus two camping fields - an upper one which is exposed but has coastal views, and a lower more sheltered one with inland views. EHU spaces are generously sized and marked out with little fences (they also sell out very quickly). Non-EHU is pitch where you like. We went over half-term and were blessed with lovely weather. The site is very family-friendly, with a pets' corner, an outdoor shower for muddy children and animals, laundry facilities and a freezer. The amenities block is perhaps a little small for the size of the site - there are only three showers in the ladies - but I only had to wait a few minutes. It was always clean when I was there.
A big plus is the lovely café, 'Archers' - rather upmarket, selling everything from homemade cake, sarnies etc through to fillet steak and their own salt marsh lamb (look on the specials board inside). It was very popular, so be prepared to wait for a table, but the food was delicious. I just wish it didn't close at 3pm, as we'd have loved to come for an evening meal.
My son made lots of friends and the whole place had a relaxed, safe and friendly atmosphere. People generally respected the 10:30pm curfew, although on one night the whole site was disturbed in the wee small hours by a drunken argument. I think the site management sorted it - certainly, they were much in evidence the following morning.
Top tips: bring wellies for the mud flats. Be aware of the tide. And book early if you want EHU!
We intend to return here very soon.

This is the first time we have been to this site and we where very surprised to find it almost on the beach. It is a very clean site with very good facilities. The staff were really helpful. Would recommend this to any one.

Stayed on the top field (for the EHU) for the second time. As a city boy I never tire seeing the wonderful view out over the bay.
It is ideal for the dogs, as soon as you leave the site you are on the beach
Archers Cafe at the entrance was excellent and the service good despite being busy. Their Ice Creams are just wonderful and we had a few because the weather was wonderful as well.
The site was busy when we arrived, a Tuesday after the Bank Holiday but not too a point of being crowded by any means.
The quiet time at night worked well and there were no disturbances, even the sheep and cows seemed to respect the silence.
I did walk up the village with one dog, it is a single track road with passing points so a bit hairy, wouldn't fancy it with kids.
The toilets and Showers were excellent and clean with plenty of hot water.
Hoping to return in September.

Couple in (very) early 50’s - Look for peace, quiet and tranquillity, but with a few mod cons.
The opportunity for easy cycling is a bonus.
Stayed 2 nights - Fri 9/10 to Sun 11/10
Was a little put off by thoughts of wild chickens pecking at my beloved canvas, but thought hey, we only live once, so what the hell! And we ended up having a superb, relaxing weekend, on a tremendous site, with lovely views of the bay. And no chickens running around! They also threw in rather decent weather (for this time of year) at no extra cost!
Booked by ‘phone a couple of days before, mainly as they are very limited on the EHU front, and we have to pump up our tent. We managed to bag one, with probably the best view on the site!
The welcome was simple but effective, and first impressions upon arrival were as high as our expectations before setting off. By the end of our stay, it has to be said both our first impressions and our expectations were very much surpassed. Make no mistake, this is a wonderful site.
The EHU pitches were bordered by a smart fence. I’m guessing at 10m x 10m. 6 in a row, all looking out to sea (If you turn your back on the camping field, which we did, for the very first time). The rest of the field (non-EHU) is, I believe, a “Pitch where you like” type set up.
There’s quite a slope to it all, so give it some thought as to how you pitch, and you won’t roll out of bed! Apart from the little gravel track up the middle, it was all grass. And good stuff at that. Thick, lush, well mowed, and not a bare patch in sight. That must take some doing after a busy summer of wear and tear. And excellent pegging texture below too. Dare I say, perfect?
There’s another field similar to the above, but presumably without the view of the bay, and a couple of enclaves of statics. Not sure if they are residential, holiday lets, or a mixture of both?
The basic essentials are all there, of course. Clean, modern and well laid out amenities block, constant hot water, washing up facilities, laundry room etc.
The cafe did look very nice, but alas, we didn't get chance to try it. We’re determined to return here, so hopefully we’ll take advantage of that next time.
Location is absolutely perfect for us. As well as the rural setting, and the views, it’s also a very nice cycle ride into, and to the far end of, Morecambe itself. 40% is beside the Lancaster canal, and 50% is via sea front promenade. Nice and flat, and not too many folk getting in the way! That prom may be busier in the summer, but we didn't come in the summer, so what do I know? Plenty of cafes etc still open at this time of year, so we were well catered for in that department.
The canal part of the ride was very pleasant, and offers the chance to have a nosy at a few rather nice waterside gaffs. Maybe not millionaires row, but at least half way there, I'd wager!
As a bonus, on the Friday evening, after setting up, we donned our wellies and went for a lovely stroll out into the bay, (direct access from the site entrance) looking across towards the lake district, as well as back, towards the camp site. Mud rather than sand, and lots of little broken bits of grassy mounds (Can you tell I'm a city boy?) I imagine it’s like this on the moon. I found it rather exciting, and certainly mesmerising, if truth be told!
All in all, a superb weekend every which way, but to do it on a site as good as this just puts a little icing on the cake.
If I had to be negative, I would say:
No sign of a sweeping brush/dust pan/mop in the gents. Maybe we’d clean up our own clumps of grass if we had the opportunity?
I’d prefer 30 seconds of shower water per button push, as opposed to the 5 seconds I got (Showered twice, but used the same cubicle, so no idea whether this applies in all/other cubicles).
Although the site provided decent weather for the time of year, there wasn't quite enough sun to give us the “Beautiful-sunset-over-the-bay” we craved. Although we did leave site with a dry tent, so we’ll count our blessings, give thanks for your hospitality, and vow to return in the hope of getting that sunset next time!
Thanks for having us, and congratulations on a wonderful site.

Lovely site. Good value at £35 for two nights (£7 pppn plus £3. 50 ehu pn). We (just the two of us) were on the bottom field with our Sunncamp Breton 500. Ehu pitches are separated by fences (so no chance of being space invaded) and are very generous in size. There are ehu pitches in both fields. The top field is on a slope but not too steep. The bottom field ehu pitches are on a very gentle slope front to back. The site is very well kept. The toilet block was clean and warm. Plenty of hot water. There are washing up facilities outside the toilet block, two sinks covered and two in the open. There is also an outside shower to get cleaned off from the beach before going inside for a 'proper' shower. As usual, we took the loo and there is a rather posh outside loo for emptying purposes with a hose for rinsing purposes. This is away from the toilet block and located at the end of the barn in the top field. The animals were lovely and very cute. We were woken by birdsong and gentle mooing from the cows. There is a strict noise down at 10pm and means of reporting anyone who thinks this does not apply to them (not required on our stay). Camp fires are allowed but only if burning the logs purchased from the site. Notices state anyone found burning anything else will be asked to leave. There is a laundry but we did not use this nor did we visit the cafe. We did however drive to a lovely pub (and hotel), The Royal which is on the main road towards Carnforth. They have a car park directly across with plenty of spaces although you do have to be careful getting across. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. Service was also prompt and friendly. We can definitely recommend both the site and the pub.

Another lovely stay at red bank.
Great site lovely friendly owners, We stay for 2 nights two adults one 13yr old and a dog cost £41. 00 which was great because we have a big 8 man tent and porch this also inc ehu. Toilets are clean and tidy with four shower cubicles in mens & womens. Did not use the cafe so can`t comment, great location right next to the beach & a lovely view to wake up to, Can`t wait to go again. No play ground for kids put the field is big enough for them to run round.

Lovely, friendly camp site by the sea.
We (me and my 3 year old) only stayed for one night but will definitely be going back for a longer stay. A lot of the people there seemed to be regulars too.
We didn't have electric hook up which is at the bottom of the field on the flattest section, but pitched part way up the gentle slope. When I say gentle slope we didn't notice it at all in bed, but the top of the field is quite a bit higher than the bottom giving lovely views out over the bay and inland and to my little boy's delight to the railway line which is a couple of fields away.
The facilities were lovely and clean with plenty of hot water and the staff were very friendly. The cafe on site, which is more for day trippers than a camp site cafe as such, was lovely and sells what my boy described as the best ice cream in the whole world ever (he had triple chocolate but I quite enjoyed the mint chocolate too!).
There's no children's play area, but honestly it doesn't need one as there is lots of space to run around and play and an area to go and see the animals just down the side of the cafe and then of course there's the beach! There's also an excellent playground up in the village which we were given directions to.
Note - I didn't see any free roaming chickens which I was a bit worried about reading some of the other reviews!

We stayed at this lovely campsite for 3 nights, myself. Sister and 3 kids. We got there on a thursday so site was quite empty, so we had the pick of the pitches! There are 2 fields you can camp on, one seemed to be more sloping than the other. The site was quite busy by friday evening, but we had no problem using the facilities(no queues for showers or loo's!), which were cleaned frequently! Kids enjoyed playing on the marchy bit in front of site, lots of little pools left by the tide! Cafe is very nice, but does get busy, walkers also use it! My son also enjoying watching the trains pass the site, track is a couple of fields away! We managed to find a lovely park about 20 mins away which had a pets corner and butterfly farm in, fabulous views from there as well. It is a lovely site, glad we went, only down side was someone had let their dog dirty right by our tent!
