Stayed during Bank Holiday weekend and although campsite was full, short queue, if any, for showers, facilities were clean and plenty of hot water.
Good play facilities for young and older childern and even a football pitch. Games room was closed due to vandalism which was a shame.
Good location, short drive to Helmsley & Thirsk. Nice walk to Oswaldkirk where local pub served food.
Big concern for us was that security barrier locked between 11PM & 7AM. Felt that this was unnecessary as all guests had a fob to open barrier. Also quite worrying, if needed access had to contact owner who did not live on site. If we could not get out quickly how could emergency services get in ? During our stay a few guests tried to leave site at 6am to go to work and owner told them to wait until barrier unlocked at 7am.
Would not return to this site as unhappy about been locked in.

Fantastic site, friendly staff.
There are different areas for the 'children' to discover and plenty of room. The toilets and showers were immaculate. We have stayed here a few times and because we were in motorhome didn't use their facilities til last stay. And what can I http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/pop_up_profile.asp?profile=196968say, I was so impressed. Spotless.
Handy shop on site and staff were very pleasant and helpful. Although it is a 'growing' site we didn't have any problem with noise at all. We have never stayed there during school holidays so haven't experienced the site when full and with lots of families. We have returned a few times and would definitely recommend it and use it again.
Local bus to Helmsley town stops outside the campsite and actually delivered us back into the site on our return. So if like us you don't want to 'break camp' to leave site it is very convenient. At the top end of our price range but we still felt it was value for money.

This was our first experience of camping and I think we were extremely lucky to find this site for a first timer.
We stayed here for 7 nights leading up to and including the Bank Holiday weekend. On arrival the staff were very pleasant and directed us to our pitch. Top field next to the larger play area and football pitch. Although this turned out to be very windy most of the time we were able to keep an eye on our daughter who played out from sunrise to sunset with so many friends she made.
The shower and washroom facilities were spotless and very well presented. The showers were hot and if you get in early enough in high season ie 7am you don't have to que, although with changing and shower cubicle in one your clothes need to be as close to the door as possible or everything gets wet.
The shop is well stocked and the staff are very helpful.
Overall we loved this site and the nearest town of Hemsley is very nice. We cant wait to go back.

We stumbled across this campsite on this website and wasn't disappointed. It was our first family camping trip so I was looking for good facilities. When we arrived we were given a choice of pitches as it wasn't booked to capacity (not far off though). The pitch and site were very good. All facilities were to a very high standard and the staff were really relaxed and friendly. The site address is Oswaldkirk but it is closer to Ampleforth, a very nice village, with a great pub. The White Swan Inn is a great place to eat. On the Sunday morning we had breakfast (earlier than normal due to our very excited 18 month old daughter) overlooking the North Yorkshire Moors. Perfect! We will be visiting again.

Nice site!
Clean Facilities!
Situated on some of the hardest ground in the world! We bent every tent peg we own on this weekend. Also where the non-electric pitches are is on top of a very windy hill not very accessible for any disabled campers and a bit of a walk to and from the toilets. Its a good campsite for visiting surrounding areas and recommend a visit to Castle Howard Beautiful place!Helmsley is a nice village to visit with a nice selection of shops and pubs. No nearby village to walk to really unless you are a keen walker!
There are good Childrens play areas on the site and plenty of space for ball games etc I would go back to this site but it would not be my first choice if I had to be on the top of the hill again park need to think about planting some trees or something for protection from some of the elements!

Visited for 10 days at the start of the school holidays, in a 6 birth tent (with friends in the same size tent) we were pitched together in view of the play area as requested, pitches weren't the biggest I've ever stayed on but were OK, they would have been too close for comfort if we hadn't been on holiday with our neighbours! lots of open spaces for playing and to learn to bike ride. Stabiliser's came off during this holiday, perfect site for this.
Shower and toilet blocks were fantastic, warm clean, rarely had to Que for the showers (despite the site being full over the weekends) plenty of hot water. Excellent family/disabled room which made bathing/showering the children much easier shame that the showers only stay on for 20 secs per push, this got a bit irritating when trying to wash my hair!
Very well stocked shop with essential camp equipment, good range of foods (including delicious homemade cakes) and plenty of things for the children to waste (sorry spend) their money on!
The local area is beautiful, excellent walks through the moors, Wonderful walks around Ampleforth collage and we had a great day out on the steam train (which stops at Hogwarts station!) great waterworld pool in york for the rainy days. Spooky pub in Ampleforth 'The malt shovel' limited menu but worth a visit for the quirkiness!
Would highly recommend this site and very much enjoyed our stay.

Just returned from weekend at this site. Our first visit and we loved it. Brilliant for kids, who were all out in the great play park till dusk. Lovely well kept site, clean facilities, toilet floors always being cleaned. Good shop, and in beautiful area.
The lovely yorkshire coast not to far. The only negative thing I can say is the tent field opposite the top play park, gets very windy at times. We struggled putting up the tent in wind, but being able to sit and watch the kids play, is a bonus. Looking forward to next visit.

Arrived Friday afternoon at 2pm and check in was easy. Good reception and shop on site which stocks everything you would need.
Site is bigger than I imagined but doesn't seem busy or crowed at all as is spread out and has different areas on different levels.
The 2 shower blocks were always spotless, with plenty of facilities, we never has to wait for showers/toilets etc. Plenty of free hot water for showers. Cubicles were big with enough room to hang towels/clothes and seat to sit on.
We used the family bathroom having 2 children aged 4 and 2 with us and this was great. Hairdryers 20p and 3 pin sockets to plug your own into for 20p too.
Good washing up facilities, washing machines and dryer available too.
The 2 play areas were good for the children, we were located next to the smaller children's play area (tent pitch non electric) initially thought it would be busy and noisy, but as it was for smaller children, all quiet by 9.30. The only thing I would recommend for the children is to take some Croc type shoes or old trainers as the ground is sandy/dirt. But this wasn't a problem, just don't let then go in new shoes!
As a family site we didn't experience any groups up late on a night. Most tents had lights out by 11.
Crazy golf on site too.
A short drive (approx 2 miles) into Helmsley.
As the ground was hard and stony, would take hard ground pegs and extra pegs with you as we bent some of ours. But overall an excellent site would definitely return!

I spent 3 nights at this site with my disable mother and my 19mth old daughter - what an excellent site!
The site is clean and tidy and even though it has a large number of pitches you don't ever feel cramped.
We were dealt with efficiently on arrival and shown where our pitch was.
There are 3 large play parks with varying facilities on each and the one closest to our pitch had facilities suitable for my daughter ie A swing with a bar across for safety.
The shop is stocked with the usual food, but also includes a very small chilled and frozen section. Everything was at a reasonable price.
The toilet and shower facilities are fantastic! - very clean and tidy at all times. There was also 2 privacy cubicles in the main toilet block near reception (I didn't go into the others). I did use the disabled/family room where the shower is like a wet room with a shower stool and shower chair provided, which my mum found very useful. There is also a full sized bath, but you do have to pay £1 for the hot water, but it provides more than enough to fill the bath even for an adult. In this room there is also a drop down changing table.
I did have to put a 'bath mat' down though for my daughter to stand on when getting out of the bath due to the room being a wet room. I did also take a non slip bath mat for her.
One thing to note though is that all the showers (disabled and 'normal' ones)are push button that doesn't seem to last very long on one push (10 seconds or so) and it is not very powerful, but still sufficient.
Would I go back to this site - Yes, definitely and I would recommend it to anybody who wanted to stay in this area of the country.
One important point to note is that there are 2 ways of reaching the site and one is restricted for caravans due to the steep incline.

Lovely spacious caravan site. Well maintained with two good play parks with zip wire, walking log etc.And a large ball field for children.
Games room could do with a bit more attention couldn't get light to work and the deposit was a tad high but the overall amenities and shop were good.
It was quite noisy at night but it was high season and there was some party people there so would probably go back a quieter time of year.
Kids loved it there and want to go back, definitely a place for families. Had plenty of space for caravan and awning didn't feel penned in at all. Staff were friendly and water points were close by.
