Welcome from staff was friendly and helpful. Pitching was hard due to hard core just underneath the turf and we bent a few pegs. Facilities OK but paying for a shower was a bit cheeky.
It was very quiet on the site (poor weather just before so maybe 4 others staying) and I think this was unfortunate as it meant the male owner decided to give us his full attention. At times we felt very much 'under observation' as he seemed to walk past us at least 5 times a day.
Although it says dogs welcome I am not sure they really are, this view was compounded when the male owner gave me a 30 minute lecture on 'what dogs had done before on the site' with the general theme of all dogs owners are irresponsible and you will let your dog do the same. Sadly for him we are very conscientious poop scoopers and our dog is well behaved so he had nothing to complain about, which I presume is why I got the lecture and implied blame for what every other dog has ever done, ever. Sadly (because we love Lyme itself) it has put us off returning to this site.

Stayed the Easter weekend with two kids aged 8 + 10. Had a great time. The pitches were a good size and lots are terraced giving an extra bit of privacy. The playpark was popular - couldn't keep the kids away - though it is not big. Site was really quiet after 9pm - seemed to be populated by considerate campers. Beautiful spot with lots to do - we went fossiling in Charmouth, crabbing on the cob, mackeral fishing boat trip from Lyme Regis, windsurfing in Charmouth. Walk to Lyme Regis is worth doing.

We have just returned from a three day stay at this camp site. The owner was incredibly helpful prior to our stay as were the staff during our stay. The site is small enough to be quiet but not so small so as to lose any facilities as it had two good shower blocks, hook up, washing area (clothes and crockery, private pitches and a small shop. There were even freezers which you could put your ice blocks in free of charge!
As the approach is quite narrow and up a steep hill it caters for campers and small camper vans only. While we were there, there were five other VW Campers staying too. Our pitch had a hardstanding and a grass area surrounding it which made it quite private. The site is terraced which means everyone gets a lovely view of the Lym Valley.
The nearby pub seemed popular at weekends but we didn't get a chance to try the food. The walk to Lyme Regis follows an easy route by the river and took us about 35 minutes brisk walk. Once there you can find plenty of places to eat. There was a good shop on the front for camping supplies with reasonable prices.
We absolutely loved it and hope to go back soon. I can recommend it to other Vee Dubbers to use without a doubt. I think the only improvement would be the facility to pay by card, but that is all!

Stayed here on the August bank holiday weekend and what a pleasant site it is too. Owners are very helpful and despite terrible rain in the days before our arrival the ground was well drained and relatively dry. This site is perfectly placed for Lyme Regis and surrounding areas. Excellent showers, clean and very hot water. The shop is stocked with all the things you might need like milk, papers and fresh bread. As the site is tiered, it enables excellent views over the valley. The site is thoroughly recommended and we will return in the future!

From the moment we arrived the owners/staff went out of the way to ensure we had a lovely time, they were really helpful and friendly.
The site is lovely with a great view of the Devon country side.
Showers were 20p for 4 and a half mins which was plenty, and if not you can just pop another 20p in!
Washing up sinks were clean and tidy, water was always hot while we were there (and it was fairly busy)
Only fault was that the hand dryer needs replacing in the ladies as it was pretty useless!
The shop was well stocked and had leaflets on places to go, bus timetables, taxi numbers etc.
We would recommend the riverside walk into Lyme, lovely walk, takes around 45mins, just ask in the shop and they will point you in the right direction.
If you like beautiful country side and 'postcard' seaside towns Lyme Regis is the place to go! The town called Beer is especially nice.
Overall a great place and a lovely site!

Just returned from a fantastic 3 night stay at this site. The views are just spectacular and it is nice to stay in a peaceful site instead of the ones where people can make as much noise as they like. We were not read any rules and everyone seemed very chilled out. The owners are very friendly.
The facilities are good but the shower floors were a bit grubby at times.
Nearby Lyme Regis is ok but very busy and touristy. The nearby beach at Seatown is lovely and there is also a pub there. Beer is also a nice village close by with good but steep walks.
Overall this is one of the best sites we have been to. You can hear sheep bleating during the day and owls hooting at night.

We were looking for somewhere for the August BH weekend in Dorset, we had left it late and booked this site at the last minute. We were so glad that we did it is one of my favourite sites and we would definitely return. Other reviewers have commented on the rules which were read to us (I thought for a moment I might have to sign them) but they were sensible ones and the owners ensured they were observed.
The site is on terraces and therefore there was a sense of not being overlooked. Facilities were very good and 20p gave me ample time for a shower which was always hot.
We had a problem with the EHU which the owner promptly fixed. Other campers were friendly.
After recovering from the fact we were in Devon! we enjoyed the beautiful countryside and the wonderful weather. The walk into Lyme Regis along the river is lovely as is the town. I would recommend a pint of the local Cobb bitter. Large Supermarket in Axminster (4 miles away).
A truly lovely site we will definitely go back

This is a beautiful site on a hill with views of the valley, the pitches are all flat as they've been terraced out, but ours was so ridiculously stony we could hardly pitch at all with regular pegs. V pegs went in better but we bought the industrial ones and swapped them over when the gale was due! HOWEVER the very friendly and helpful staff told us that they have de-stoned the bottom areas and are working up to do the middle area this year so shouldn't be a problem for long.
The top toilets area is a big space with around 10 toilets and 3 showers and quite old fashioned. These ones were always clean and the floor dry. The bottom toilets were the sort with the old pine seats that never seem clean, and the floor down there was shiny tiles that were always wet and very very slippery. We didn't use these ones much even though they were nearer to us.
The shop was great, Uplyme stores even better. It hardly stopped raining the whole time we were there and there wasn't any problem with muddy pitches that we saw-the staff were trying to channel run off down the paths away from the pitches.
The play area is tiny, but seemed to keep my 3 and the others amused-however there isn't any scope for them to play off around the site really aside from the actual prescribed area. No open space/woods etc.
Lyme Regis is great, overall we loved Hook Farm and we aim to return to experience better weather, and do the walk from the site into town.

We enjoyed our stay at Hook Farm campsite. The owners make a big effort to make the best of your holiday, they are very helpful and pro-active.
The view over the valley is wonderful from some pitches. We made the walk to Lime Regis with our 2 small kids and that worked out fine. But also by car Lime Regis is a short drive. The village is a pleasant stay.
There's a small playground for kids (with a boat on the ground: explain that one to a 4 year old!). Facilities are spacious and clean.
We preferred the pitches on the lower field because they are more spacious.
Fresh bread from 8.00 am.
Thanks again for a great visit to your campsite

Visited site for 6 nights in the peak of August. Toilets & Showers were always clean & tidy, however the 4.5 minute showers meant you had to work hard at finishing before the water stopped. The washing up facilities were OK but in busy times water was only warm & not hot! The site was a very peaceful & not much space for our 3 kids to play in. When we checked in the Rules were read out in detail ( Felt that we were in school again! However the advantage to the long list of rules is a quiet, peaceful site with no yobs or dogs. Would we visit again yes but only as a stop off on route.
