May 2004 This is our second visit and we came with another family (good friends of ours) as we wanted to share this little gem of a camp site with them! Adrian the proprietor gave us two pitches in the top field with fantastic views down the valley. Whilst it was busy, the way Adrian sets the site up with car / tent / car /tent order; ensures you are not on top of fellow campers and you have a place to park the car out of sight of your tent. The owners have done much since we were last here through improving the terraces and levelling pitches - the new grass was coming through so I expect it will take a bit of time to establish as this site is growing in popularity. As you would expect, the bins became a little full on change over day, but it was cleared up as soon as the newcomers were booked in. The new showers remain clean and the showers worked fine! The Talbot Arms at the botom of the hill is very welcoming and does good food. A wide screen telly is there for sports events so us Dads and older sons are well catered for! Our friends we are pleased to say had a great time and will also be coming back. We all found this site a great place to tour from and use as a base for exploring the wonderful scenery and attractions that can be found on this part of the Heritage Coast. We will be back next year. Thanks Adrian

July 2004 Sorry to say, but we were very disappointed with this site. We booked it on the strength of the previous good reviews and although can't fault the friendliness of the couple running it, we found a few things disappointing. They charge top whack, yet in places the site resembles a building site. The "new" loo block has been in that state for 3 years! Bins were overflowing and the pitches were tiny. Were cross to discover we were charged extra for having a larger tent, mentioning that on the phone when booking would have been a courtesy. Tiny play area for children, place is overrun with the little dears (yes, we have 2). Suspect they are keeping costs down by trying to do everything between them, if so they should be charging less. When I pay top price, I expect top price service (which means more staff than the owners) and a top site.

August 2004 We've just returned from a 6 night stay at Hook Farm and the word disappointed sums it up, we paid to stay for 7 nights but were desperate to leave the site.!! I researched our choice of campsite carefully and was impressed with the great reviews this site had recieved but our experience didn't live up to our expectations. The site was busy, expected for a bank holiday but the pitches were the smallest I've ever come across and were very stoney and muddy. The shower / toilet facilities were basic and despite having to pay 20p per 4 minute shower, were cold the majority of the time and very dirty, the same moth was on the floor of the male toilets for our entire stay, a good indiactor of the frequency that they were cleaned. The laundrette facilities, which were advertised on the web site and are one of the deciding factors for a campsite when your have young children, consisted of a washing machine & tumble dryer which did not work, instead had a note on them stating to contact reception for details of the local laundrette!!!! I booked this stay months ago and stated that our party consisted of a number of children under the age of 2 but despite this we were put right on the edge of the main road into the site, fine if the children were happy to play with moving traffic!! The site shop was only open for an hour in the morning and another hour in the evening and was so basic that even those opening hours were pointless!!! I'm sorry to leave such a bad review but I can't describe how disapointed we were with this site.

August 2004 Pretty campsite with many nice green pithes, but three things spoilt our stay. The lower toilets were neglected and needed more regular cleaning, including the cobwebs in the ceiling! We object to paying for showers and iceblock freezing, most campsites have given up charging for these and the goodwill it generates pays back ten-fold in goodwill and repeat custom.

August 2004 We spent 5 days here in August and it was fully booked the whole time. This did put a bit of a strain on the facilities (the bins got a bit full and the loo roll ran out on most days) but nothing too drastic.
Very friendly owners, great location with good views and a lovely walk into Lyme Regis as others have mentioned. This area is very hilly and the walk up to the campsite from the bus stop or from Lyme Regis is pretty steep (we took our bikes but didn't use them as it was just too hilly).
Make sure your torch is handy in the night as the path to the shower block isn't lit and the lights in the block operate on a movement sensor so only come on when you get inside. The gravel path can get quite slippery in the rain so watch out if you're in your flip flops!

July 2004 Well organised site, in beautiful setting. Facilites adequate, although lacking those finishing touches. Block often had luke warm water, and toilet rolls were loose in the 'top' block which meant they were sometimes relocated.
They were more than accommodating with our change in plans.
Pub which does great simple food within 5 minutes walk.

August 2004 This is a really nice camp site. The pitches are terraced so nice and flat. However as other people have said, they are a bit rocky so expect some peg casualties! Both the toilet blocks are good, but the new one is exceptional. The owners are very friendly. We chose the walk by the river into Lyme Regis, which is really nice, and got the local bus back up (only 70p, number 31 I think.) We intend to return here.

July 2004 Have just spent enjoyable holiday at Hook Farm. Site lovely with great views across valley. Owners very friendly and helpful. Did see the deer in the orchard. Site does get very busy with lots of children, but quiet by night.

July 2004 A lovely, peaceful, site. We went for a long weekend and feel like we we had been for a fortnight, well relaxed. The site is terraced so if you are up the top the views down the valley are great of an evening. Nothing in Uplyme but the Talbot Arms and 1 shop / post office but that suited us fine. Well placed for visiting the Dorset - Devon coast and, as other reviewer's have said, there is a lovely walk into Lyme Regis.

July 2004 Very impressed with this campsite. Easy to find, pretty views from the pitches higher up the hill. Showerblock looked brand new and was clean. When we went, the campsite was about half full, and very quiet, with a mixture of couples and families. 10 min drive (but car parking very expensive!) or about 30 mins walk into Lyme Regis. Walk is either on footpaths or along river - no walking on roads. There is a pub and a shop down on the main road about 5 mins from site (site is up a quiet road), plus on-site shop. Owners very friendly. Our experience was very good, so would definately return.
