We stayed here for 2 nights in August. A nice, warm welcome and rules of the site laid out and various nearby walks. Lovely site, nice pitches but playground quite disappointing. Toilet blocks spacious and clean however they aren't quite finished. Lovely walk into Lyme Regis and if you don't want to walk back there is a regular bus service back to the campsite. Although the weather was terrible when we visited, we probably would return. It is quite expensive considering you have to pay for showers and any electric used in the bathrooms. But as it is such a picturesque site with such nice people running it, we could live with that! Also, this site is SILENT at 11pm.Bliss!

A nice site, and a good location. We had a good sized pitch and the facilities were clean. The staff also were very friendly and helpful.
Disappointed that the showers were not free, but we were only there one night so didnt need to use them.
There is a nice pub nearby and the walk into Lyme Regis was lovely.
Although we liked the site and its location, we would not stay there again as the pitch was full of stones, and it was extremely hard to set up our tent. In the end we we ended up with a lot of bent hooks and it taking longer than normal to set up.

This site is brilliant!
The owners are friendly and the site wardens helpful and welcoming. The shop sells a great selection of things including Guardian newspapers which was a bonus! The pitches are mostly based on small or individual sized terraces so you never feel that you are in dull rows in a bland field. This also prevents children kicking footballs around your pitch etc. The showers and toilets were always extremely clean and we never had to queue even though the site was pretty much full. The site has excellent walkable access to Lyme Regis(even with a moany 6 year old). The only drawback for us was that our pitch backed onto the main track in and out of the site and was by the play area so there was some 'child noise' until about 10pm on one night. We would definitely recommend this site and would love to return - the owners have taken the effort to provide a more intimate style of camping with excellent facilities and should be praised for that.

We must have visited the site in the worst week of weather this year so far.
On arrival we were met with a warm welcome by Terry who explained the checking in procedure and, as we had never been camping (let alone to this site) before, the site facilities, best places to visit locally, walks to take and a few tips before showing us to the pitch.
The site facilities were very good - the shower blocks were clean (as they could be with the weather the way it was!)and there seemed to be sufficient facilities for the site (we didn't have to wait for showers to become free, for example). The showers (and hairdryer if you need it) are metered but the water is hot.
The shop was well stocked and we even managed to buy a china mug for my morning tea!
The playground was small however, with all of the local attractions close by and some open space for outdoor games, this did not present any problems for us.
The local attractions and surroundings (Lyme-Regis) were very pleasant but it should be remembered this is a seaside resort in high-season and is busy, busy, busy. Parking is at a premium and scarce during the day although the woodland walk from the campsite is approx 40 minutes (remember that the walk going back to the site is mainly up-hill!).
Unfortunately, solely due to the weather, we decided to cut our stay short but we will be rebooking next year.

Good points
Nice location for exploring the Jurassic coast, shop is well stocked with essentials the staff are very friendly, come 11pm it is completely quite.
Bad points
Pitch was too small for our tent and was on a slope and that stopped all the family from a good nights sleep. It was over crowded which meant we had to queue for showers and toilets on several occasions.
Saying all that we enjoyed our holiday but would not use the site again

My sister, her 2 children, my 2 and me have all just spent 3 fantastic nights at Hook Farm. I cannot fault it! Adrian and his 2 site wardens whose names I cannot remember were absolutely fantastic! We got stuck with a dodgy cooker which Adrian came, emergency tool bag in hand, to help us with. Nothing was too much and he later came and checked on us that night to make sure all was ok. We felt very welcomed.
The toilets and showers are clean, the showers take 20p and last 5 mins with a countdown on the display. This was actually more than enough time! There is a small play area for the kids but they mostly played around the site. Although there were a lot of kids there they were never overly noisy. On arrival you are asked to keep the kids noise down from 9pm which most people did. The site itself is very dark and very quiet at night - no need for ear plugs - so that's great too. You do need a torch for getting to the loo's at night tho as it is so dark.
There is a fantastic river side walk down to Lyme Regis and other than the hill up to the campsite it's fairly level. (we all walked there and back with kids ranging from 9 to 4). We spent one of our days in Seaton on the tram which is great, then in Colyton a ride on the horse and cart which is fantastic entertainment as the horse farts the whole way - very funny! Lovely lunch in the Kingfisher too.
We didn't get to do too much as the weather wasn't great but I have already told the hubby we are defo going back for a week next year.

This is the 3rd year that I have have stayed at this site and I have run out of superlatives.
On arrival you are greeted in a warm and friendly manner by either Adrian and Larraine, the owners, or Terry and Gill, the park wardens, and shown to your pitch. The pitches are large and as such you are not on top of your neighbour, and have room to spread out.
There are two toilet / shower blocks both of which are fairly new and kept in good order. The showers cost 20p for 5 minutes and are a good size, so your clothes do not get wet as you shower, and the water is hot, hot, hot!
The site is terraced and affords the most spectacular views across the valley (worth the pitch price on it's own). This site is ideal for families, and couples who are looking for a quiet and relaxing holiday, there are no amusements, club house, burger bar, bingo etc. If that is what you want you are looking in the wrong place!
There is a shop which has advertised opening hours but, whilst we were there, always seemed to be open, and sells all the essentials,I recommend you try the Hook farm bacon and sausages they sell, far superior to anything you will find in a supermarket.
There is a pub at the bottom of the lane about 5 minutes walk away which sells local beer and serves meals, but my wife and I found it noisy and unwelcoming.I recommend you try the Hunters Lodge at the A35 end of Uplyme or if you are in Lyme Regis the Royal Standard which serves a wide range of, locally caught, fish dishes as well as homemade cottage pie and steak and kidney pie, and if you order the gammon, look out as it is the size of the plate! If you are a fan of real ale try the Palmers 200, superb.
One place in Lyme to avoid is the Bell Cliff Restaurant, I won't say too much as I do not wish to be sued, but on the occasions we ate there is was consistently bad. Also try the Georgian Tea Rooms in the mainstreet, next to Lloyds Bank, lovely food and a 'secret garden' which is great on a hot day and will keep kids amused as there is a fish pond and a rabbit in the garden.
Finally, I would recommend that you book in advance if you can as this site is becoming very popular as you would expect after reading some of the reviews.

Been coming to this site for a number of years. It overlooks rolling Dorset countryside with magnificent views. The nearby walk along the valley into Lyme Regis is a must.
The new owners are friendly, but encourage pre-booking. We turned up on the fly, but they did their best to accommodate us, so no complaints.
Beware - the ground can be VERY hard - bring a sturdy mallet and strong pegs!
Facilities are clean and serviceable.

We arrived midweek and Adrian showed us to our pitch. I had asked for a sheltered spot but the pitch he showed us had no views of the lovely valley. After a bit of paper shuffling Adrian showed us a lovely spot with views, he couldn't have been more helpful.
The showers were some of the best I have sampled on a campsite, the ladies were set at 5 mins 19 sec for 20p!
The onsite shop was well stocked and seemed to be open whenever we went past (although there were official hours).
The only downside (apart from the rain) was the stoney ground under out pitch which led to the bending/breaking of at least 8 tent pegs.

We stayed at this lovely campsite for a week at the beginning of June. We were made to feel very welcome by Adrian, the owner. He went out of his way to be helpful - nothing was too much trouble.
This site is ideally situated in a sheltered valley; the pitches are terraced which gave us good views and privacy. We think it is worth mentioning that we had intended to camp at another site some 30 miles away, but this site was flooded because of recent heavy rain, so after a phone call to Adrian we found out that his site was not affected.
Terry, the site warden, who was also very friendly and helpful, has prepared details of local walks, which is available in reception for a charity donation of 30p. We found the map invaluable as it took us on walks which we would not have discovered, and they were beautiful.
The showers were kept clean and were good value for 20p lasting some 5 minutes.
We shall definitely be returning to this site.
