We stayed for the bank holiday weekend at the end of May, when the site was pretty much full, but didn't feel overcrowded. The helpful site staff show you to your marked pitch, which is a decent size, level (as it is terraced into the hillside), but the ground is very stony, so be prepared to bend quite a few tent pegs! The toilet blocks are modern and clean; the 20p showers last long enough, but the solar powered hot water appears to get colder later in the day. The site is family-friendly, with a small play area, no excessive noise, a shop and a generally pleasant atmosphere.
We walked down the valley into Lyme Regis - it's a country stroll of just over a mile and the site give you written directions. The return journey isn't that bad - our 6 year old walked it easily - the only steep uphill bit is the last 100 yards up the lane to the campsite.
The positive reviews for the site are well-deserved. It is not cheap and nasty: investing in your facilities and caring for your site pay dividends. We are coming back.

Oh a campers paradise. Always busy just stayed for a week and as one unit left another was there 2 hours later and considering the price I was surprised. The hill up to the site is steep and no way could I have managed. Never had to queue for a shower and they kept them clean which is no easy task when site is full. Anyway it's a nice site but too expensive

Just returned from a weekend at this lovely campsite. The terraced layout gives an uncrowded feel to the place. Although the weekend we went (29-31 May) was probably the best weekend of the year yet and also the end of half-term week it did not feel overcrowded. The showers were hot and clean and priced at 20p for 4.5 minutes. It's amazing how quickly you can get the job done when you are clock-watching. The on site shop was well stocked and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The site has an absolute quiet after 11 pm rule, so is not for dedicated partiers. It is also situated in a 'dark valley' and has minimal night time lighting. Much the better for both these rules in my opinion. Lyme Regis is walkable and there is a pub at the foot of the lane. You need to obtain a key for the chemical toilet disposal point (£5.00 deposit). We only found this out on the day of departure but, in fairness, we were checked in by a (very nice) new chap and he may have omitted this fact in his check in spiel? A word of warning to Touring caravans - it is quite a challenging approach to the site, up a very narrow and quite steep lane. This is just something to be aware of and you should not let this put you off a visit to this beautifully located and very pleasant site. It is do-able. I think we will be back!

The perfect campsite ? Just spent 3 nights here and can only say we will definitely be back. Very warm welcome, the staff introduce themselves by their first names and remembered our names too - I've never experienced that before ! Terry and Adrian, and the other staff, went out of their way to be helpful even though they were v busy (it was end of May holiday). The site itself is on a valley side but almost all of the pitches were level due to terracing. I also liked the fact that there were trees and hedges all over the site which means that you cant really see more than a dozen or so tents wherever you pitch. Toilets and showers etc were spotless and you have to pay 20p for five minutes hot water.
Views from the upper pitches are glorious - right across the valley and facing west for the loveliest of sunsets. Very quiet site - no loud music is allowed after 11. Is a pub (Talbot Arms) at the bottom of the hill which is very handy for an evening pint and Lyme is a nice 30 minutes or so walk down the riverside path. Hook Farm have definitely raised the bar in terms of campsite quality and standards.

We went for a long weekend and birthday celebration (40. Oh joy!).
The shop and toilets were spotless over the whole weekend and no problems with hot water. The shop bread and sausages were lovely too, although Charley just wanted the cheap dinosaurs. Everything in the shop was reasonably priced for a small village.
Not high season but all the kids were asleep by 9 and us adults just enjoyed the peace and quiet watching the stars. Beautiful views in the day.
Plenty of space on each pitch and no chance of encroaching onto your neighbours. Terraced for each spot.
The pub did good food but a little pricey (Lyme isn't a cheap area) and the beer was good.
Walk into Lyme is very pretty and an easy 30-40 minute walk; even with a 4 year old. Very pretty old water mill halfway along. The journey back is definitely best done on the bus.
Don't bother with the dinosaur museum in Lyme. Very old fashioned and 'traditional' type written info and papier mache dinosaurs. Too expensive for what it is.

Stayed here for 1 night as our first attempt at caravanning! Welcomed by Terry who was lovely. Fantastic peaceful site, nice and close to Lyme Regis. Extremely clean toilet and shower facilities with lovely hot showers. Kids loved the simple play area. We could not ask for more and can't wait to return!

Great site. Very clean & tidy, lovely friendly welcome when we got there. Small shop selling the basics and a bit more. The children were very impressed it sold sweets for as little as 5p! Facilities are in two blocks, one at the top, and one at the bottom of the camping field. Cleaned regularly, and one is always open if the other shut for cleaning. Camping field is on a hill, but pitches are level. Small playground which the children loved, just a small boat, climbing frame, and everyone's favourite-the swing tyre! But had trouble getting the children off it! Lovely riverside walk into Lyme Regis, and downhill all the way there! Seriously, the walk is mainly level, there is just one big hill, and that is the one back up the road the campsite is on. There is an hourly bus service (2 hourly on Sundays) but this goes from (and back to, of course)the bottom of the hill. Not worth trying to take the car into Lyme Regis as nowhere to park it. Would recommend the site, my only, personal, complaint is that it would be better closer to the beach, but clearly there is nothing the site can do about that!Lovely quiet site.

Stayed for one night in early April. Very warm and helpful reception from the owners. Parked the van on one of the grass pitches, all of which are arranged in terraces up the side of a valley, offering fabulous views of rolling farmland. Toilet blocks clean and very spacious. Showers are paid for with 20p coins (about 5 minutes).
About 25 - 30 minute walk to the seafront. Lots of options for eating, drinking and site-seeing, but cycling is not for the faint hearted - very hilly!

We stayed here for 2 nights last week and were very impressed. When we arrived we didn't have enough cash to cover the 2 nights and they dont take card so we were allowed to just pitch up and sort ourselves out and pay when we got a chance to go into town to the bank. We found the gentleman on reception to be very friendly and helpful. The site itself was very quite and very pretty. Not much for children to do on site so would say that it's more aimed towards adults. The toilets and showers were very clean and you got 5 mins in the shower for 20p, which I found better than the stop start showers that you get on most sites. Didn't having to queue for anything either which was a bonus and very well placed to visit Lyme Regis and other local places. Can thoroughly recommend this campsite, although it was a bit pricey.

Spent last weekend here and have to say the site is excellent.
Lot's of people on site but never felt crowded due to the clever terracing and ample facilities.
Our pitch was a bit muddy and a small pool had formed under our tent by the time we packed up after Sunday mornings rain, but to be honest I think this was just a symptom of the summer we've had!
Facilities were very clean and never had to wait to use anything. Showers 20p for five minutes.
Good shop on site, not too overpriced just the normal campsite mark up. Very friendly staff who were always happy to talk even though they were flat out busy.
Lovely easy walk into Lyme along the river. Would definitely visit again although the pitch rates are a bit steep.
Overall a very good site.
