We booked for 2 nights and actually stayed a further night. The campsite is really lovely, very quiet with lovely views, just as explained on their website. Owners were really nice and helpful. The showers are really nice and only 20p for about 2 mins which is great and with space to get changed in the cubicle, they are always clean. There is also a freezer in the shower block for campers to freeze their ice packs in and of course you can access 24 hours a day which is excellent. The onsite shop is good, fresh milk, bread, gas, bbq's, etc etc. We were given rules just like everyone else which is a great idea, we already knew them from their website which was the attraction for us, we wanted a nice quite site, which this was. Lyme Regis do some excellent guided fossil hunting walks, a definite recommendation. The 40 min walk from the campsite is lovely, we did it both ways. I would certainly recommend and return to it should we return to the area again.

We were very impressed. Adrian is so friendly and his site manager Terry is a lovely chappie too. They have radio contact with each other and Adrian radio'd Terry to show us to our pitch which was in the highest field - not too crowded and with its own space, not hemmed in by neighbouring tents. The water supply was in the same field and the shower and wash block just a stroll away. The only downside was having to pay 20p for the shower - thought that should be included in the pitch fee, though can understand why it isn't as by putting your 20p in, the clock starts ticking straight away. You have 4 and a half minutes to have your shower (don't know if it's the same in the ladies shower) but it was plenty enough time for my small torso and the good thing is - people waiting have only got to wait four and a half minutes for their go - although some people take another half an hour to get dressed before they emerge from the cubicle. Ideally situated this camp site is not only for Lyme Regis - lovely walk in by the river, but also for Golden Cap, Charmouth and dipping into Beer over the border. We had some rain when we were there - but it drained off well - possibly better than elsewhere as we were in the top field. The field does slope though so remember which way to put the head of your sleeping bag!

We chose this site because it was close to Lyme Regis, we were going fossil hunting for the weekend with a friends dad, we had a most fascinating weekend I would highly recommend it to anyone. Remember to take a bag to put your fossil finds in.
On the first night we were there we ate a the pub which is at the end of the road a steep hill climb back to the site but doesn't half clear your head! The pub had good food and a good atmosphere, it was just after extended opening times were introduced, so expecting to get chucked out at 11.30 we assumed when we left that it wasn't that late, how wrong were we, ended up tip toeing back to tent at 12ish!
On arrival to the campsite we met the owners who were lovely, they live in the house at the top of the hill over looking the campsite. We were handed a set of rules and shown our pitch, we had two pitches for us and our friends. The owners of the campsite were seen regularly either showing people to their pitches or emptying the bins.
The site is on the side if the hill so it has tiered pitches up the side of the hill, gives brilliant views, the site has many trees and bushes which allow some privacy however we overlooked the two pitches below us. Also some of the pitches have no shade what so ever. I swear that there was a whole entire T-Rex skeleton under our pitch, I bashed in the tent pegs until I had blisters on my hands, I do have experience with stony ground but never experienced anything like this before, you would have thought that when the constructed the site that they might have put some decent top soil or at least sieved the soil that was there. Rock pegs and a hammer are definite requirement (which I didn't have).
The toilet block was huge although the space could have been better used, plenty of toilets but only a few showers, I chose not to have 20p shower over the weekend we went. The facilities were kept clean and well stocked. There were also sinks for washing up outside the block in a covered area, we always had warm water when we went and didn't have to queue for long to use the sinks. The only down side was the walk up to the block and back, we weren't too far away but I can imagine it might be quite a trek from the bottom of the site especially with washing up. We paid high season rates but didn't get high season facilities as the shop was closed, which I found a little off.
The rules required no noise after 11pm which I didn't have a problem with as I like go to bed and 10ish, however my friends were not impressed with this rule. I like the fact that the site was quiet having visited sites where people are still being loud in the early hours of the morning I was happy to be quiet after 11. Also rules required you to have left you pitch by 11am, this is a bit steep not many of the units managed to be packed and gone by 11, we decided to go at our own pace, the owners never came down to tell us to hurry up so it may be a rule they only enforce in the high season however it did mean that we could not enjoy the last day of our holiday as much as we had to leave the car full of camping gear when we went out on the last day not ideal.
The surrounding area is wonderful lots of walking, beach combing for fossils and some nice towns just to wander around. Getting there can be a challenge as Dorset is the only county without any motorways, we came from the east along the M27 which turns into a dual carriageway (A31) on the outskirts of the new forest and eventually at Ferndown near Ringwood becomes a single lane of traffic and stays that way until the A35. So give yourself plenty of time to get there.
Overall our experience of the site was positive although I am not sure they have got the balance for us as we like a slightly more relaxed site I did enjoy my stay (with the exception of struggling to get the tent up of cause!).

We pre booked a pitch for a family size tent and had a great week, nice clean site with new toilet block (only gripe was the all night extractor fan blaring out near us). Slight hiccup was the loos being blocked by stones / bricks being chucked down the septic tank by someone or other, meaning a visit by Dyno Rod next morning and closed loos. But that's the campers not the site owners fault. Brilliant location in light pollution free valley close to Lyme Regis and Charmouth beaches, but this was pre container ship disaster so not sure how well the Dorset beaches are bearing up this year.

This is an excellent site if, like me, you are looking for a site that does not have a clubhouse, amusements, bingo, burger bar etc. But does have peace, quiet, glorious views, helpful and friendly owners and superb amenities that are kept clean and in working order. There is constant hot water for showers @20p a time, and more than enough time to shower for your 20p. There is also a washing machine and tumble dryer which were reasonably priced, and necessary when your away for 2 weeks. My wife and I spent a very enjoyable fortnight at this site and have every intention of returning this year(2007) for 3 weeks. I have no hesitation in recommending this site.

We have been to hook farm for 2 years running now and find it delightful. Our love of Lyme Regis and surrounding countryside is strongly felt and was formed some years ago touring the southwest coast. The only changes in thirty years of camping I've noticed has been the parents, the playstation and telly are to blame for they are far to easy a method of occupying children. But the environment a camp site offers is exciting and goes back to our primal instincts and an unoccupied child will go ballistic not having yet acquired self control. We were there in aug/sept and there was for one morning from A group of families all traveling together a lapse in parental control they must have read the rules as did we all but chose to allow there children to exit the tents early on there first morning rather than occupying them. If this was annoying comments could have been made to Mr and Mrs Morgan and we are sure it would have been dealt with in a professional and sympathetic manner as we have always known them to act. We can only sing there praises and look forward to staying there again to enjoy the peace, scenery and exemplary facilities to which I believe they are adding all the time.

Excellent site - quiet and peaceful with tiered pitches providing good shelter and wonderful views of the valley. New toilet and shower block kept spotlessly clean and with more than adequate facilities, including hair dryer and electrical plug in socket - 20p per shower / hairdryer. Site shop disappointing, however there is a well stocked local shop in the village 400 yards away. Village pub does an excellent sirloin steak and a good pint. Lyme Regis only 30 minutes walk away with excellent Restaurants - would also recommend the riverside walk into Lyme Regis which will take a little longer but is well worth it. This might be the jurassic coast but there is nothing jurassic about this campsite! Will hopefully be returning in the future.

Lovely site set in a nice part of Dorset. I don't remember hearing any traffic noise and there was greenery everywhere!
The people on the site are very efficient and friendly, the pitches clearly set out if a bit stoney for our tent pegs' liking. The pub at the end of the lane did good food and were friendly, and it stayed open past midnight which we enjoyed. Their various Otter bitters were quenching and moreish.
The toilet and shower compound was brilliant (made us gasp at first sight!) with sufficient numbers of loos and sinks, all kept very clean. The shop was not open which was disappointing, as we still paid high-season rates. There was however a village shop at the bottom of the lane which was only a few minutes walk away.
Charmouth beach was fantastic for fossil hunting.less "hunting" more "finding in the hundreds"! Lyme Regis beach was also pleasant - good luck parking close by though.

We stayed for a weekend at this campsite, with various plans for the weekend away.
Arriving at about 7:30pm we were checked in easily enough and given a list of rules, and they specifically pointed out the leaving by 11am rule and the no noise after 11pm rule.
After being very quiet (not a problem) on both nights we stayed, we were woken up before 7am by screaming children.
The leaving by 11am was a nightmare - getting up early, packing up our vehicles, firing up the cobb for breakfast and so forth meant we just about managed to leave by 11:45. Having a vehicle full of expensive camping equipment meant we had to go straight home on the Sunday rather than actually using it as a holiday day (having to actually cancel arrangements we had made). Had we been aware of this we would have made arrangements to be able to stay until Monday or chosen a different site.
We were not made aware of any such rules when we booked, nor are they mentioned on the website. When booking the only issues we were made aware of was that we had to arrive by 9pm and the 11pm quiet rule.
So, after having spent around £100 in fuel alone to get to this site we ended up having to be very quiet and yet were woken up early and had to cut our holiday short.
However, the toilet/shower block was exceptional, the owner was polite and friendly, the local facilities great (excellent local pub with great food and late opening) and beautiful views from the site.

A very busy site which coped well with the large influx of visitors. The tent sites are very generous in proportions and the site is terraced so it retains the small friendly appeal. The toilet block was generally pretty clean but there were often queues for the showers- although well worth the wait and the 20p! A lovely walk from the site down to Lyme Regis along the river.
