We love this campsite! It's friendly and quiet with great facilities. The showers and toilets are very clean and the on-site shop is small but stocks the essentials. There are great views from the pitches at the top but all areas are very nice with lots of trees for shade. Everything is well cared for. The walk to Lyme Regis takes around 30 minutes and is just lovely. This is the second year we have visited with our vw camper van and we will definitely be visiting again.

Returned to Hook Farm after several years waiting for the kids to get old enough to appreciate camping! It's a fantastic, beautiful site with great amenities, the rates were more than reasonable and it's perfect for a bit of peaceful star gazing once the kids are in bed, I'll be going back in a couple of weeks and throughout the summer for the foreseeable future, 10 out of 10 !

People were lovely, site looked nice. Toilet and shower block was above average. Playground small and probably most suited to 4-7 year olds, although only one or two children at a time.
One thing that I think fellow motorhomers need to know is the VERY narrow steep hill to the site. This is most definitely only suitable for one vehicle at a time.
Local shop down the road but by the time we got there they didn't have much.
We didn't make a trip into town as the weather was dreadful and we decided to just make it to our next destination. I would consider staying again if we visited here.

My wife and I stayed here for just one night while on our way down to Cornwall.
The site was easy to find and we were met by warm and friendly staff who explained about all the facilities available. The site also had a few static caravans and an area for tents a bit further up the hill, all the pitches for motorhomes or caravans were on flat terraces with electric hook up available.
The toilet facilities were clean and incorporated an area with a washing machine and drier there was also freezers to chill your ice packs, around the back of the toilet block were sinks for washing up. The play area was small but for the amount of children there they seemed to be enjoying it.

Lovely friendly site, good wardens very helpful. Ideally located for visiting Lyme Regis and the Jurassic south coast. Good facilities both on the site and locally. Some lovely pubs locally both for food special ale - try some of the ciders. Worth visiting the normal and antique market in bridport - definitely worth a visit (try the chocolate shop in the high street).

Stayed here for 3 nights in Aug 2013, and I can honestly say it's one of the nicest sites we have ever stayed at. We are a family of 4 with two young children.
First of all, ignore the bad reviews, most of which seem to be concerned with having the rules read to you when you arrive. Yes, this site has rules. It is a family site, not suitable for large and noisy groups. If you don't like rules and want to party, there are plenty of other sites happy to accommodate you!
We chose this site for the proximity to Lyme Regis, and the fact that it wasn't a massive open field, unlike other sites in the area.
When we arrived, we were greeted with a very friendly welcome, which set the tone for the whole stay. Adrian and his team go out of their way to be helpful and friendly the whole time, and our kids always had a cheerful wave from the man who went round collecting the bins, and mowing the pitches.
We had to pay extra for our enormous tent, but it was only £2 a night, and we were actually allocated a beautiful double pitch, which more than suited our needs and was hedged on 3 sides so we had both space and privacy.
The whole site is very attractive, on many different levels, spotlessly clean and well set out.
There is an excellent children's play park with a sunken boat that offered literally hours of good old-fashioned imaginative fun. As always, the play park was the social hub of the site, so beware of pitching too close to it as it did get very noisy. However, it was shut down at 8:30 pm on the dot, after which time the whole site was very quiet.
The facilities are good, with nice hot showers (you pay 20p for four and a half minutes, which was ample). The block at the top end is more modern, but a bit of a hike up the hill. The one at the bottom is perfectly good, although a little dated. Both were always very clean.
The shop is small but stocks all the essentials, from groceries to basic camping equipment.
Three nights a week, the campsite is visited by a lovely Sri Lankan family cooking authentic dishes. We tried this one night, and although the food is good, the portions are very small and we found it very expensive for what you get. Still, well worth a try to save you cooking one night.
The walk to Lyme Regis along the river is an absolute must. We managed it with a toddler, although it's not really suitable for buggies as the path is quite rough in places. When you arrive in Lyme, walk down the hill a little way past the fossil museum, and have breakfast at the incredible bakery with tables outside. Simply awesome.
If we visited Lyme Regis again, we wouldn't hesitate to stay at Hook Farm again. If you have kids, it's absolutely perfect. But there are certainly a lot of kids there in high season, so if you're after a quiet weekend away, you might want to look elsewhere!
Thanks again to Adrian and his team for giving us a truly lovely holiday.

This site is great for families. Loads to do locally, loads! It's clean, well maintained with extremely friendly and helpful staff.
Best features are that the camp plots are largely flat even though the campsite is mainly on a slope, so great for pitching even for novices. Only thing to watch out for is the soil is quiet stony, we lost 10 tent pegs to the stones!
Amenities are clean and in good working order.
Local pub is excellent, great food, great atmosphere and friendly staff.
As a family of 4 inc 9 yr and a 4 yr old, we will definitely be going again next year, as it is not possible to cover all the local things to do in the fours we stayed. See you next year Hook Farm.

Just returned from a family holiday in our tent. All I can say is, this is a great site. Every member of staff we spoke to was super helpful and very friendly. Even when you were asking questions that they probably get asked several times a day!
The site is set up so that you are all on separate levels, each pitch has plenty of space around for outdoor eating etc. We did book the extra large pitch as with our front porch attachment our 6 man tent is very big. But looking around all the pitches seem quite large. We did feel that the site was quite noisy when we first arrived, however we did go in the six weeks holidays and it was at full capacity, so it was only to be expected. Once the weekend passed it did seem to quieten down so maybe there were just some noisy people there then ?
The showers and toilet block were always clean and tidy. I did have to wait for the shower once - I did go early morning and they are busy between 8am and 9am. The water pressure and temperature were just right and we all found (two adults and two children aged 7 and 9) that for our 20p each which gave us four minutes in the shower, that it was plenty of time, the only time we ran out was when I shared a shower with my daughter and I wanted to condition my hair as well, just about 30 secs more would have done it but alas I had to use another 20p! The washing up area was clean and covered so it didn't matter if it was raining. If they are in use, look around the corner as there are two more sinks that amazingly most people didn't realise!
We loved the walk into town along the river, especially once you are past the wooded section, as you approach the town along a path that otherwise you would miss and therefore not see some of the lovely sights. Especially the Old Mill, now a working mill, bakery and brewery - well worth a look. The local pub down the hill from the site was lovely, sadly not great for vegetarians only two options one of which was an omelette. However, the atmosphere and staff made it worth a visit. We also found the local stores great, very well stocked with all your needs and a great food van on the car park, doing great breakfasts and lunches. All in all, we had a great holiday. I really would recommend this site but maybe out of the main six weeks if you like a bit of peace and quiet.

The site was hilly, it is terraced but our pitch on the top field was NOT level. On pitching the tent we had to use the big pegs usually reserved for Cumbria as it was very rocky just below the turf. (managed to ruin a few of those) It was a quiet site, and as it is a dark valley it had a big night sky full of stars.
The showers were 20p for 4 mins in the mens and in the ladies you got 4 and a half minutes ! They were clean and there was plenty of room with somewhere dry to put your clothes.
The chemical disposal point was padlocked, you had to get the key from reception and the information sheet handed to you on arrival pointed out that you would be asked to leave a £5 deposit !
The walk into Lyme Regis was pleasant, through woods and fields to the edge of town. This took 20 to 30 minutes, not a chore on a beautiful summers day. We used the bus to get back to the campsite which stopped outside the Talbot Arms in Uplyme, this left the final slog back up the hill on foot. On the last day the bus didn't turn up so we used a taxi. The fare was the same as the bus (£5) but took us back up the hill to the campsite.
Overall, a small friendly site, handy for Lyme Regis and the Jurassic coast.

Very noisy and expensive. I agree with the rules aspect of a lot of the posted comments, we were assured when booking that the playground area was not allowed to be used after 8. 30pm but they cleared the playground but let a football match continue outside our pitch! Seems that rules are applied when it suits them!
Wouldn't return, paid £83 for three nights and it was so noisy we packed up after 2 nights and went elsewhere for some peace and quiet. We have children, but make sure they respect other campsite users so they can enjoy their holiday equally!
On the plus side, the walk to Lyme Regis was lovely.
