Good economic break that the children enjoyed which was the primary reason for choosing a Haven site.
We chose Blue Dolphin for its location to both Filey and Scarborough which also have a lot to offer in terms of a good day out should you want a break fom the site itself.
The site has all the features you would expect to find on a Haven site and always have a pocket full of change you are prepared to lose to your children as you pass through the amusement area to get to the entertainment!
The small children's play area is a little tired and would benefit from some TLC however, the refurbished amenity area on the campsite was very pleasant.
Overall, a decent 5 night break and will return to this or another Haven campsite as they are good for young children and mine love the Bradley Bear & co characters - Although, be weary of buying the cd of songs as it will drive you mad if you have a long journey home !
In our opinion. If you have young kids and want a value for money break give it a go because you have more to gain than you have to lose !

I wanted to like this site as my children love Haven however I have to say I had to put a brave face on throughout. I stayed for 5 days at this site on the 1st week of the school holidays so I was expecting it to be busy and some tents were pitched so close to each other their ropes were crossing which I thought wasn't allowed due to fire risk. Luckily I was pitched with plenty room, maybe as they made a mistake and had me recorded as a caravan instead of tent.
This site is quite hilly. I was pitched right next to the playground which did get noisy however wasn't too bad.
I was not at all impressed with the shower block. The toilet/shower block was quite clean and there were lots of them. You get a code which you have to enter to use the toilet block however with a 6 digit passcode comprising of letters and numbers and different ones for mens, womens and family bathroom, this became difficult to remember at times, especially during a midnight mad dash to the loo!
A really bad point about the showers was that they were so hot! For the whole 5 days I could not shower my children as it was scalding! They are only aged 1, 3 and 5. I could hardly bear it myself and really struggled to wash my hair however this was basically dangerous for children.
I complained to the attendant who explained this is a problem that nobody seems to want to fix and told me to report it to reception which I did, however I was just told they already know about the problem and it does fluctuate sometimes between too hot and ok. I felt that the problem wasn't being addressed at all.
The showers are quite unhygienic as well as they are not completely separate cubicles therefore I found the soapy water from the next person's shower running into mine and often the drains blocked so I was standing in 3 inches of water trying to get dressed with soapy water from the next shower coming in.
On a good note however I liked that you could plug in you own hairdryer and use it at a large mirror as this had 4 electric sockets, although many people were on the floor doing their ironing instead.
The washing up room had loads of sinks however people were complaining that there were no plugs. I used my own washing up bowl therefore this didn't affect me.
I found this site had a lot of dog poo all over the grass. There didn't seem to be much awareness or bins.
Overall I enjoyed my stay due to the fact that there is so much going on in the main complex and my children love it. I will probably return just for the Haven experience however will not look forward to the actual site mainly due to the shower block.

Just got back from a four night stay and we really loved it.There was 7 of us in our tent and it only cost us £80. Its the second time we been and we cant fault this site.
Toilets and shower blocks are fantastic, there's loads to do for the kids on site and off site with Scarborough just up the road.We will be going back again next year for a short break. We stayed in the overflow field and found that there was loads of space for kids to play.
There was also someone who walked round on most mornings getting rid of any rubbish that was left by other site users the bins were emptied all the time so the site was kept clean and tidy.
Would definitely recommend this site 10/10

We were touring with a tent and had booked weeks before. We were told to pitch on the back tent field anywhere. According to rules and health and safety regulations, tents had to be 5 metres apart from each other. It was the barest pitch ever, with no grass and just hard mud patches. As we were only staying 2 days, we decided to stay. We pitched on very hard uneven ground and agreed on making the best of it.
To be fair to the camp though, the showers and toilet facilities were excellent, very warm and clean at all times!
After being out on our second day, we arrived back to find 2 huge families had pitched their tents directly and very close to the entrance of ours. I was not happy at all but as we were going home the next day, we decided to just let them get on with it and went out for the evening. On arriving back to our tent about 11 o clock, we found the families in front very drunk and very loud .There is supposed to be a no tolerance of noise after 11 o clock policy, but they didn't care. My hubby went out to ask them to keep the noise dowm and all they did was laugh and take the micky. We tried security a few times with no reply. Pitches should be numbered and clearly have set marked out areas.

Just returned from a 7 night stay. Our pitch was a super hardstanding, we had our own water supply but no toilet disposal. Our pitch backed onto trees and we got woken up as soon as it got light by the birds. We were amongst the tents that kept noise to a minimum. The site does operate a no noise policy after 11pm.
The portable cabin toilet block was near to our pitch which we didn't use but they did look clean. The new toilet block was in the next field which was a short walk away from our pitch. The showers were warm and powerful, the only downfall was that the changing area in the shower cubicle got wet whilst the shower was on, so had to get dry whilst standing in a puddle. The showers were very busy first thing in the morning so had to queue also late afternoon.
On site there is two small clubs two swimming pools, one being outdoor with a small slide.
If we were to return again we would have a euro pitch as they were in another field, but its very likely we would return.

Just came back from here. Was brilliant staff lovely. Despite what other's say we had a fab time. Shop is vry expensive but found a Morrisons just down the road so bought what we needed there. Toilet and shower blocks always clean. Entertainment OK but can be bit rude for kids. They even deliver Pizza to yr tent but this is also vry expensive £14 for 1 pizza although vry nice. Swiming pool was warm inside and out although didn't like the idea of having to take shoe's off when just watching kids in the pool after seeing people with really bad feet.(mine stayed on!). Night time was not to loud until the last night when some idiot was singing at the top of the voice and swaring really loud. This was quickly stopped when security arrived.(idiots) Would defo go back and recommend to anyone. Thank you Blue Dolphin for the lovely holiday.

We very much turned up hoping to find two vacant pitches for one nights stay after ringing round most sites and finding them full and we were lucky in that the reception staff kindly gave us an area between two tents which they said they 'shouldn't let us have' and charged us a whopping £42 for the night.
As it was that or go home we dutifully paid up and set our tents up on the slightly sloping site.
Although it had been raining the drainage to the field seemed good with no puddles on the grassed area and plenty of shelter from a tree line.
Shower and toilets were in portable cabins which although kept clean were second rate & a disappointment given the first rate price of the pitch. No hot water for washing pots and it just dribbled out which would suggest that the boiler had locked out. As this was the same the next day then maintenance checks were not carried out or it was never reported.
On-site entertainment was probably the best I had seem with a massive games and bar facility. A pass card is required to enter but as this was not issued on our arrival this turned into an argument with the security staff that was eventually ironed out by asking to speak to a supervisor.
Off to bed at 9:30 having two very young children and laid awake listening to the unbelievable racket that went on until 12:30 with very drunken campers (and their children) returning to their tents. Oh I forgot the Suberu Imprezza driving round as well late into the night! Sign age stated that they operate a 11pm no noise policy which was evidently not policed as well as the entry cards.

We went on our first camping trip to blue dolphin a couple of weeks ago.
I think we were lucky in arriving late we were directed to a different field to our friends who arrived earlier (and packed up and moved to where we were!) our field was nicely spaced and not that windy, the other field (which was called the over flow field on the map but they filled up first) was over crowded and very very windy.
The toilets were always clean and never a queue when we went down.
We didn't stay on site very much and only went down to the club & arcades for about half hour on the Saturday night, this seemed to be full of chavs!
All in all for the £26 we paid for two nights it was an ok base for the tent.

We stayed at blue dolphin for the first weekend of the school holidays. We paid for the standard pitch however this is the same has a overspill pitch. Windy is all I can say. We stayed on this coast before and pitching a tent is like extreme kite flying. All the entertainment and activities are on the caravan side of the site(bit of a trek). Security passed most of the night to check the no noise after 11pm was stuck to. And to be honest his diesel engine on the bumpy path made more noise!
Entertainment ok, shop overpriced has always on these places. Bar queues huge!
On the plus the toilet/shower block was spotless, plenty of them and hot water all the time.
We wont be returning though due to the high wind where the tent fields are situated(apparently it is always this windy). If you do visit take pegs to secure your tent and don't forget a hammer has the ground is solid!

Went for the weekend with my son and his mate (both 15). We pitched the tent, the boys went off, only came back for food and bed.
The toilets and showers were clean and tidy.
The only issue I have is that if you take a dog then don't leave it in the tent barking all evening while you go to the pub as some person did. Not only is this not nice for the people in the tents next to the barking dog, what about the poor dog.
Other than above, the boys loved it and want to go back, I would also go back maybe next year.
