What a weekend!
Got a cheap last minute deal, think they had heard the weather forecast! Despite SEVERE rain, thunderstorms, and extremely gusty wind the camping field held up very well. As did our new tent!
Disappointed with the lack of entertainment on for the kids during the day with most of it having been cancelled due to the bad weather. Surely, it is at this time you need entertainment for the kids!
Also the pool (which is actually a large bath which is only 1.1 metres deep at the deep end) was absolutely crammed constantly and due to the rain the outside pool was closed. Very few changing rooms (which were mixed sex), cold showers in the pool area and no limit on the amount of people allowed in led to the swimming pool only being visited once for half an hour, after which we gave up.
This left the only entertainment for the kids as the arcades! With 5 kids this became very expensive very quickly.
In the evening the showbar and the starlight bar were so packed that there were no seats (and that was with the touring facilities half empty) and small children running everywhere. It also cost £13.50 for 7 cokes, a little ridiculous surely!
The shower block/toilets near us were spotless mid-afternoon but after the morning and evening rush looked a little beaten.
The refuse was horrendous with piles of rubbish left around the bins as the bins were full and were not emptied until the Monday morning, which meant 3days with no collection. When they did empty the bins they left all the other rubbish there for the birds to continue having a go at. On Monday afternoon, security/customer service arrived and put all the rubbish from around the bins into the bins. This meant they were full again, goodness knows when the next collection would be but we were leaving by then anyway.
It would have been better had the weather been better, but I think Haven made the most out of the situation financially as they could. They were understaffed and the prices were very high.
If you are going here check the weather first as if it rains it is going to be a very expensive camping trip, but I should imagine in the sunshine with the extra facilities for the children and the ability to sit outside your own tent and entertain yourselves more it would have been much better!

Visited this site on 29th of june for five nights. The site was fairly busy to say it wasn't the school holidays, I think its probably due to the fact that its so cheap to pitch here. Used an electric pitch, loads of electric pitches on this site some are sloping others are quite flat. When you get there you can choose your own pitch. The pitches are a decent size. Be warned as the site is very close to the cliff it can get very windy at the top of the touring field. Toilet and shower block fairly clean to say how many people use them. Sometimes they were a bit grubby but that is to be expected with the amount of people on the site. The showers were warm but the pressure was non existent. The touring field is a bit too far away from the site facilities. Plenty to do on site if you have kids. The Alpine bar is good, like a normal pub its near the main reception which is a bit out of the way. Its the third year in a row we've used the site and only found out about it this year. The only problem with it is it only opens on friday, saturday and sunday. Our only real problem with this site is there seems to be a staff shortage, whichever bar or shop you go in you are waiting around either there are no staff around or they seem to be on a go slow. We had a great few days, weather was nice most of the week and after last years mud bath this year was a dream! I would recommend this site as its in a great location with Scarborough, Whitby, Filey, Bridlington and the North Yorkshire Moors on the doorstep. If you're a Heartbeat fan I would recommend a trip to Goathland. The site is also very reasonably priced to pitch here compared to a lot of other sites and because of that you accept the odd problem that the site may have.

Just returned from 3 days here to be honest we were not overly impressed the toilets were dirty and for 2 of the 3 nights there was no electric so showers were freezing. My first impression on arrival was omg what a dump the rubbish bays were overflowing (but it was Sunday) We did find a nice pitch though and if you like haven the entertainment is provided we paid £3.00 for 3 nights and the kids got to go swimming for free as all included. There is an onsite shop which was quite expensive.
All in all it was ok I dont think I would go again unless the £3.00 offer was on. We spent all our time exploring the surrounding area and came back late at night. There were a lot of noisy people with annoying kids. The major bonus is if you walk to the cliff face which is about 10 minutes away you can see seals it was amazing. If you can get a cheap deal it is well worth it

We went for a short break in early June and stayed in a static caravan. This was really spacious and clean. We found the entertainment really good for the kids and they also ejoyed the arcades and Burger King on site. The shop was quite well stocked even if a bit expensive but found a Morrisons, Tesco and Sainsburys in Scarborough so this wasn't really a problem.
We did however find the swimming pool off putting as it was an odd shade of green and the changing rooms were quite grubby so we didn't bother with the on site swimming pool and used Scarborough's swimming pool which was clean warm and very reasonably priced for a family of four.
While there we did take a walk around the touring field and was quite impressed with pitches and the facilities and their cleanliness so we may pop back for a break with the tent later in the year.
Out and about there are loads of attractions in Scarborough, we particularly enjoyed Peasholm Park with the pedalos, a trip to Whitby and the North York moors steam railway. We found there was plenty to do even if it was raining.

We have just come back from a weekend at Blue Dolphin, after getting a 'cheap' deal last minute.
I was a bit apprehensive about going after reading mixed reviews about the site but thankfully, we had a lovely weekend.
We arrived late Friday evening (about 8.30pm) so the site was already very busy. Booked in at reception (all very polite and cheerful) and was told to find a pitch we liked. It was quite difficult as there were not many pitches left and also it wasn't that clear which pitch was which -people had seemed to pitch whereever they liked. We managed to find a nice flat pitch.
Even though the site was extremely busy the touring field was quiet after about 9pm. We didn't see any security patrolling however.
Toilets and showers were clean - not the cleanest I have seen but to say how many people were staying on the touring field they were in a suprisingly good state.
The facilities on site were very good. There is a large shop which sells essentials and toys / gifts. All reasonably priced - not much more expensive than 'normal' shops. Open quite late in to the evening too which was handy.
The swimming pool (indoor) was a hit with the kids - changing rooms nice and clean. Didn't try the outdoor pool but it did look very good. We also visited the indoor play area which was good for the younger kids.
Arcades/ice skating/crazy golf etc also on site but at a cost. We had a go at the crazy golf (£2 per person)but got rained off. The staff once again very helpful and cheerful.
Went to the onsite club Saturday night, managed to get a table ok, had quite a wait at the bar, good entertainment for the kids though.
We also visited the fish&chip shop - there was one person serving and one person cooking. They really seemed to be struggling. They didn't seem to have time to clear up so there was lots of rubbish on tables and food on the surfaces/floor etc, think more staff is necessary but food was lovely and the young man serving was doing his best.
The only bad point I found was that there were only 4 sinks to wash pots and at busy times people were waiting. Also, the area was a bit grotty but that was down to the other campers not cleaning up after themselves, and not Haven's fault.
Overall, I really enjoyed the weekend and the kids absolutely loved it. As we only went Friday to Sunday we didn't leave the site - other than for a short cliff top stroll - there was so much to keep us entertained. We would definitely visit again.

We spent 3 nights here over the earlier bank holiday weekend and we were more impressed than we thought we would be.
Having read some of the reviews on here I was expecting a lot of noise and rowdiness and to be honest we saw nothing like that on the touring bit of the site.
Yes the site was very full but the security staff were always seen patrolling and all went quiet at a reasonable time and there was no noise that woke me up and I am a light sleeper.
The facilities were ok. They weren't great but they weren't truly awful either. The showers got very dirty quickly and only seemed to be cleaned once a day. There were plenty of them though and plenty of toilets. The showers were also quite difficult to get hot but once they got there they seemed ok - if a little slow.
The entertainment wasn't what we went for but we did go one night and the kids seemed to think it was ok - but not really my thing. The pool - again the kids liked it - not half enough changing rooms and the pool was quite shallow.
Overall for the price we paid I was more impressed than I thought I would be. If I go again we will just treat it as a campsite and miss out on the entertainment bits. It seemed a bit like 2 seperate sites - on a night I wouldn't have liked to be walking about the static bit at all where all the entertainment was. Lots of older teens everywhere and lots of swearing and arguing. As soon as you got onto the touring part it quietened down and people were just sat out having a nice chat with other people and it was all a lot nicer.

We have just returned from four days away at blue dolphin (Bank Hol Weekend!)
I must say before we went we read the comments raised by this site and we were not looking forward to it! However I must say that I cannot see what the problem is.
Throughout the evening there was a little noise but the security staff were excellent! They patrolled every half hour warning anyone in relation to noise after 11pm.
I would advise getting to the showers first thing because as the morning passes they do get dirty, which is understandable.
Although the site was full to its capacity it was still excellent. Very satisfied with this site and would definatly return.

Went here for the May Bank holiday weekend, £23.40 for 3 nights electric pitch, bargain. We were pitched about half way up the site on an electric pitch. We found booking in easy and the staff friendly and as helpful as they could be considering that they are quite young and seemed a little inexperienced. Toilet block was kept clean and locked, the pitch was big enough for van, awning and car. The site itself was absolutely packed and a lot of people, who arrived towards evening, were to be seen driving round looking for somewhere to pitch.
We visited the clubhouse (one night only) it wasn't really our scene, but the kids seemed to be enjoying themselves. The drinks didn't seem to be too expensive, we paid £10 for a 4pint pitcher of lager. The soft drinks were dearer!
The swimming pool was ok, for the kids, but a bit too shallow for me about 1metre, I think. Had some chips from chip shop, managed about 6 very greasy (good for lining stomach, before club lol).
The site shop (or supermarket) was ok with offers on some products and not overly expensive.
There's a car boot and market every Sunday about 2 miles from site. The thing that surprised me about this site was how quiet and peaceful it was at night very little noise after about 8 o'clock, this was on the touring site the main site was quite rowdy till late but the noise didn't carry.
This is a good, inexpensive base for trips to Scarborough, Whitby etc.
Will go again, good for the kids.

Arrived Easter Monday, high winds, snow (can't blame Haven for that) Touring site was almost empty but they directed everyone to the highest point on the site (total madness) several trailer tents could not even pitch because of the very high winds.
The shower blocks were however very warm and clean!
Fish & chips £5.45 (sorry can't cook fish) Burger King (sorry no fries), 3 coffees from bar (in small paper cups) £5.85, funfair not open, all in all very disappointing so much so that we left on Tuesday and stayed on a friend's farm near Whitby, and had a great time.
Contacted Customer Service and the Site direct they don't seem that concerned!
One good thing was we took the 3 gandchildren to Bridlington Council run swimming pool it was fantastic and cost just over £8 for the 5 of us.

Stayed with our tent back in 2006, got a bargain deal with electric in late may, parts of the field are quite hilly and open(we packed up 3am morning due to winds) toilets are old but clean & heated. Entertainment upto usual haven standards, was a little bit worried about the openness of the site and lack of security on the entrance.
