Just come back from 4 nights there. Upon arrival we were told that the basic pitches were not available as the grass hadn't been cut so we were told to pitch alongside another tent near the play ground. This was great for the kids to play but it was on a steep slope, which made sleeping interesting!

The toilet and shower block had been updated and was fantastic, there were plenty of showers offering plenty of hot water and them and the toilets were very clean. There was also plenty of sinks for washing up in although when it was getting dark there didn't seem to have any lights in this area.

It is only a short walk from the entertainment complex and shop. The Spar's prices seemed very high (£1.20 for 6 rolls). I was disappointed with the galaxy showbar as it was small compared to other sites we have been to.

Its location is good for exploring surrounding towns and villages (Scarborough is only 5 miles away and Filey is 2 miles). Scarborough has a park and ride which cost us £2.60 return for a family, although if you wanted to visit the castle or the SeaLife Centre there is a bit of a walk.

One thing to bear in mind is that the site is on top of a cliff and there is not much shelter so therefore it can be quite windy (as we found out, we had several very windy days and nights).

The touring reception didn't seem as well stocked as previous sites and when we asked a question about something in our pack the staff were not so knowledgeable as others have been.

So overall it was a nice site, but I was left a little disappointed and I don't think that we will be going back again. There are better sites around.

The good thing about this site is the location for visiting other towns.

The not so good parts. If you have been in a tent before you will be aware it is on a slope and you need to select your pitch with care. Previously you could go anywhere on the touring site, not now. All tents are now at the bottom of the hill, you may get a flat pitch if lucky though there are only a few. There is also a non electric field available.

The toilet block at the top has been updated but the tent section is portable units with a generator running 24hrs a day. They are kept spotless and the showers are hot and are nice cubicles.

We stayed after the Easter weekend it was quiet on the tent side but you don't get any peace with the constant hum of the generator. The field even after 3 days of sun was not dry like the top.

The rest of the site is the same. The pool is new but now no slide and very shallow. Outside pool looks the same but wasn't open yet.

Shame about the changes but even the location would not make us book again now.

Had 2 nights at Blue Dolphin in a mud bath. I knew we'd booked a grass pitch but that was all the web site offered, we had great difficulty getting out campervan on to the pitch and certainly couldn't get it on to chocks to level due to amount of skidding going on.

The promised new facilities block for 2010 was still being built and portacabin facilities were provided instead. They were kept immaculately clean which was no mean feat given the the level of mud and were plenty big enough but were powered by a generator which would have been a noise problem for any one in a tent.

We had 2 dogs with us, the fee for the dogs was nearly the same as for the pitch and electric and they we weren't even allowed to take them into the outside seating at the bar so didn't use any of the social facilities on site.

Its a couple of miles along the coast path to Filey so nice location

If you want a kiddy break at a holiday camp it's probably fine but if you want a general break I'd go else where and never use the tent field in the wet.

Just returned from a 5 day break at Dolphin Bay, Haven Nr Filey / Scarborough with myself, husband and 2 kids in our van and mother and father in law and grandchild in there van.
Apart from the location of the site which is nicely located to the local resorts, this site has nothing going for it. When we arrived we were told to pitch where we liked. On entering the field which is like an off roading assault course, we managed to find a pitch that was not too uneven(after looking at three other areas that where it was far too uneven).
The toilet block was not very clean and the dog walk area was a disgrace as the bins had dog fouled bags over spilling and scattered around the field(very unpleasant).

There was no security present on the touring field and we never saw the warden. The club itself was run by kids who had no idea what they were doing ie. Orders got wrong, can you believe they ran out of coke, we had a game of ten pin bowling and had to argue for a refund when the machine broke down twice. The list goes on.

We have had many really good holidays,at haven sites across the country and would recommend other haven sites, but Haven really need to pull their finger out here.

Eay to get to site. Very very large site, largley run down communal areas. The campsite area is more like an after thought. Toilet and shower blocks are old and outdated and none too clean either. Very cheap to stay but the campsite area has small pitches, mostly unlevel and very hard ground with insufficient grass coverage. When we went the wind was horrendous due to the positioning of the site on a clifftop. The site is well positioned for acces to Filey, Scarborough, Yorks Moors etc but that's all.

We had a great weekend, good value for money.

I would like to say the only problem was kids blocking the toilets with toilet paper, other than that the showers were great we are definitely going back.
I looked at the fee's for seasonal touring pitches (£3500) which is a bit much. We visited the club once and didn't rate the trio that was on so we went in the bar were the karaoke was on, all in all a good break for us all

Just returned from a wet, windy and cold break to this site. Although we had lots of rain, there didn't appear to be surface water. Typical Haven site though, pay for everything but kids love Haven. Lots of warm and clean shower and toilet blocks.
The family changing facility also came in very useful too. Camp site is close to Scarborough and Filey for supermarkets and shops, and is only about a 5 minute walk from the main Haven complex. We only paid £60 for 4 nights and our tent is 27ft x 24ft so can't complain about the price.

This is the second time we've been here in a tent and we will return.

As with most, I was a little concerned having read some of the previous reviews. However, I was camping with my 5 year old daughter and she loved it. We were lucky with the weather, one grey day and a couple of brief showers over the four night stay, which helped and even had two days of sunshine.

We were on the over-flow field, which was hilly in places but we were lucky and got a pitch on a relatively flat part. Its pot-luck, you just pitch where you can. Its actually a good spot to be in, as you don't get many people walking by you so its quiet.

The facilities were basic but Ok, only negative was the toilet roll would run out in the evening.

The swimming pools were Ok, though crowded and the changing facilities a bit small and basic. The entertainment for the kids was excellent, though a little repetitive by the fourth night.

The usual English obsession with queueing was funny to see. The doors to the main kids room opened at 6pm, but there would be people queueing by 5 and the queue right round to the pizza place by the time the doors opened.

The Reps spend a good deal of time during the shows trying to sell stuff by waving it in front of the kids and getting them running back to parents for money. The bar prices were not too bad, unlike the queues to actually get a drink.

All in all we enjoyed it, though it only cost £70 for the four nights, I might have been writing a different review if I had forked out hundreds for a caravan.

We booked 4 nights here for my wife and myself and 2 boys aged 7 and 5 we got a very good deal starting are break on bank holiday monday. We paid 14.40 all in and and was on the overflow field we was not expecting much as the price was so low but we suprised a little.
We arrived at 1200 and booked in at the touring reception old brick building selling a range of gas and bbq's give a map and fun passes and told pitch anywhere you want on the field only rule 5 meters from surrounding tents.
The overflow field is what it say a field with sign say bird and nature area. If at top end can be very windy and if at bottom can very wet as it is on a hill and bumpy in place's.
It's a fair walk to the toilet block but as you get there you find lovely clean toilet and showers in porter cabins shower close 11pm each night and open again at 7 am.
Plenty of water points on camping area but non on the overflow field which is a down side also never managed to find any pot washing area but managed with a bowl of hot water like a true camper.
Found the pool area to be old and run down and cramped at times and always a shortage of locker which are pool side so have to carry clothes with you until last minute and then to find no lockers available was a let down.
Plenty to do in the area with brid, scarbough and whitby all within about 30 minutes drive of the site. Plenty of local shop and supermarkets. We did find funworks to be over priced as a lot of the game are for tickets and a packet of pencils cost 50 p in and shop you can end up paying 3 to 4 pounds plus to win the tickets required.
We did however find the Olympic arcade in Scarborough which are the same type of ticket machines and a lot better prizes for the pounds you spend.
Overall the holiday was great and we will be going back next year

We went to Blue Dolphin for our first ever camping experience and while it was a good holiday we won't be going back. Once on the campsite you were left to your own devices with no direction of where to set up your tent and most spaces seemed to be 'bagsied' by families waiting for the rest of them to arrive. We eventually found a space next to the caravans but was very cramped and you could hear every cough and conversation.

Toilets plentiful but got dirty very quickly and only cleaned once in the morning. Toilet / shower block became a camp out for the teenagers at night. Afternoons were the best time to get a free shower. Nothing terrible but just not great.

Make sure you have windbreaks if cooking outside. 2 children's play areas but very busy and children tended to be unsupervised which made it unruly.

Onsite eateries were usually closed and very expensive. The shop was well stocked but expensive and the reception had a small supply of camping equipment / batteries etc.
