This is not our usual sort of site. We prefer small quiet sites but at £55 for a week's camping we thought we'd give it a go! We were late to arrive and the reception was closed but we got our information pack out of the special 'box'. In the pack was a map which directed us to the tent field at the top of the site. It seemed quite crowded and rather exposed so we decided to go to the lower tent field (which has no electric hook up)instead.
We pitched right at the bottom (a bit of a trek to the toilets) of this field near the trees and we had loads of space for the kids to play. That was until Friday night when the masses descended. Midweek there were about 8 tents in the field and on Friday / Saturday night there were about 100 tents packed together. The kids didn't mind - they made lots of new friends. We didn't get any sleep on Friday night. There is a 24hour number that you can call if there are any problems and the security team is send straight out. Quite a number of groups were asked to leave the site!
We found the staff throughout the site to be excellent. The toilets were usually very clean. Litter was collected frequently. Midweek this is a quiet site and the tent-only-field is lovely and relaxing and contained fires are allowed. At the weekend it's 24 hour party-time.
The surrounding area is lovely and there is loads to do and see. We really enjoyed Eden Camp near Malton.
We didn't use many of the holiday park activities, apart from the pool which was good. The views from the park are wonderful, too.

This was our second visit to the Blue Dolphin site; the first had been disappointing with noise and rowdy youths drinking and driving around the field in the early hours, however we were assured that it was unusual so decided to give it another go. Big mistake - on arrival in the overflow field there were 5 tents with about 15-20 young lads all drinking, playing various ballgames and being generally rowdy. We went for a walk, bumped into the young lady who sorted our problem last time and mentioned to her our concerns of a repeat performance. We went out for the evening and returned to our tent just before 11pm, teenagers playing football and a car boom boom disco in the middle of the field. The young lads returned to their tent about 12.30, then the fun started! wont bore you with all the details but it took 4 calls to get security, they all started fighting, police were called one youth arrested; got to bed about 4am.
Spoke to 'Sonia' the next day who was not remotely interested ' she cannot legislate for inconsiderate youths' - what tosh poor management was the problem and a reluctance to deal with potential problems. We were assured that security would be increased on the Saturday night, this did not happen and again, car boom boom discos until well after 11pm and teenagers playing ball games, shouting and screaming until early hours.
This is supposed to be a family site, we don't have children (ours grown up) but the guy in the next tent did and they were awful all day because they were tired due to lack of sleep, so their weekend was also spoilt. Very poor experience - won't be going back.

Having just got back from blue dolphin and having to cut our holiday short I have mixed reviews about the park.
We booked a standard pitch for our tent after reading the other reviews which stated the over flow site has a slope, turns out the over flow and the standard site are the same! so not only were we on a slight slope but we also had extreme winds coming off the sea as this part of the site is very high up, so much so that most of the tents the following morning had collapsed, we couldn't even sit in our tent it was so bad.
The toilet and shower block was like new, and kept very clean, very modern and spacious showers with the water varying between warm and hot, there was a lack of sockets for hairdyers and straighteners and every time I went to the toilet these were in use although every sink had plug for shaving!perhaps it would be an idea to take an adapter. We never used any of the other facilities as we were too tired and wind swept we decided to call it a day and go home!
To use the toilet/shower block we were given codes to use to open door which we found very frustrating, I don't feel this is entirely necessary.

We had an absolutely fantastic week at Blue Dolphin - We were greeted by very nice & friendly staff at the Booking In Office & were shown a map of electric pitches & were then able to choose our own, once pitched went back & received our entertainment passes & codes for toilets.
We were a party of 3 Me, Hubby & 2 year old son and were very happy to see that there was a brand new toilet block which was always lovely & clean & always had hot water, nearer to where we pitched were portable loos & again were always clean with hot water. There is a great children's play area on the touring field. You do hear the odd drunk coming home from the showbars, but come on we are on holiday after all.
The only downside to the whole holiday was the Soft Play, some children in there were far too old & far too rough to be playing with the young ones there is a sign as you go in stating if you are taller that the board you cant play, but this was obviously ignored it also said that everything was supervised but we saw no staff, so after 10 minutes left & never went back. The swimming pool was fantastic too - brand spanking new & we went 6 out of 7 days loved it!
There is loads to do & day & night & the children's entertainment is amazing. The site was very clean & staff friendly.

A bit pricey and pitches far too close together. Door locks with a code didn't always work. Toilets clean and warm though. Plenty of bars to visit with amusements placed just after the food area.
On site shop with prices as you would expect. Morrisons is only 5 mile away. Follow the a64 sign then superstore signs. Cheap food in a pub next door to it. Morrisons though was cheap enough to eat there all week. Check orchard farm nearby

We arrived at Blue Dolphin an hour and a half before our book in time, but were kindly allowed to pitch early. We were given clear, friendly instructions and details by the receptionist and directed to our pitch. Thankfully it was relatively flat - some of the others were on a really bad slope. We found the electricity supply to be good and powerful, and the site do a free ice block freezing service.
As the day wore on, more people turned up and it was a bit like 'sardines'. There was very little privacy and the field looked more like something you would see at a festival with tents crammed in everywhere. Because of this it was quite noisy, even after the 11pm cut off time.
The new toilet block is gorgeous - unfortunately we were nearer to the portaloo facility so used that instead. It was good and clean for most of the time and there always seemed to be someone in there cleaning. The only time I found it to be dirty was first thing in the morning. It was down to some people being disrespectful and leaving the place in a state, not the cleaners fault.
The site's facilities were pretty much what we expected - a few takeways, nice modern lounge bar, Spar shop. The two showbars did seem a bit dingy and got very crowded very quickly, making it difficult to find a seat. Prices weren't too extortionate though and I was pleasantly surprised at that.
There was not much for our 13 year old girls to do though as the place seems geared up towards young families. I thought there would be a teen kids club, but no one seemed to know anything about it and there was nothing on the information we were given. But for young children the clubs would have been great fun.
The swimming pool was nice and new, although sadly lacking in any 'fun'. It was a basic oblong pool with a few balls thrown in now and then. I was at least expecting a water slide or two.
The whole site seems a bit disjointed with a disorganised layout and on the whole I was left feeling a bit disappointed. We paid £50 for three nights, and with hindsight I wouldn't pay any more. I don't think I would return to Blue Dolphin, but it hasn't put me off Haven sites altogether.

We arrived friday afternoon and werea told were to pitch our tent. We got everything out our car just about to put the poles in the tent & the woman who told us where to pitch came running over & said she was sorry we had to move to the other field as she had given us the wrong pitch. Fine by us as the pitch was on a downward slope.
We found there was plenty of share in the field but it was a bit uneven but was fine. The toilet block was very clean. It was being cleaned everytime we used it. The shower block was clean also & the showers were nice & hot.
We went to the club at the night. Take in mind we went over may bank hol weekend & the show they put on was a Christmas story. The tables & bar were really sticky & dirty. I asked for a cloth & the girl came & cleaned the table for us but it wasn't any better. Anyway the evening was very boring even the kids wanted to go back to the tent.
Would not come here again, been to quite a few havens & I must say this is the worst, no atmosphere. Too noisy & not the cleanest. Wont be returning

We went with friends in april this year after been to another haven site in scarbourgh we though this would be just as good, big mistake.
It was a massive walk to the resort centre across very uneven ground which was very muddy when we were there, there wasn't even a proper roadway.
I felt as if this site was more geared to the static caravans. Showers and toilets were very clean considering there was still building work going on around it! we went down the amusements with the kids and it was full of chavs!
Entertainment in the bar was a pile of crap, definitely wont be going back here.

We arrived to the blue dolphin unsure as to what to expect after reading the reviews. I was wishing I had not booked and especially with it being so cheap 51 pounds for 4 nights for electric hard standing pitch which is all they had left.
We were very pleasantly surprised we went to our pitch with no problems to find a very nice clean site no mud bath. The toilet facility block is fantastic, ladies have 15 toilets and 15 showers and around the same sinks, very clean but quite small showers, I struggled a bit as I had my 5 year old daughter in with me. I learned from that though I went in the disabled block which had much more space. The showers were always clean and very warm.
I would advise not to eat on site burger king for 2 adults and 3 kids cost just under £30 and the whole on site foods are quite expensive. The swimming was free with the passes but I'm not sure if it will be the rest of the season.
All in all definitely will be going back again soon not sure if id pay a lot of money for it though.

Totally new to the camping scene, bought a new tent and wanted to try it out, went on the Haven website and obtained a great deal of 2 nights for £10.80 for 2 adults, 1 child and 2 infants.
Was given a decent pitch on the flat right next to the toilet block, which as been newly updated and offers fantastic washing and toilet facilities. Fully heated throughout even at early hours in the morning, excellent showers, wash basins with big mirrors and shaving and electric points, these are inspected at regular intervals and kept very clean. Also there is a good washing up area with instant hot water. Being so close to the toilet block we thought we might hear a lot of noise during the night but that wasn't to be.
The entertainment area is a 5 minute walk away and offers great facilities for the kids, my 4 year old loved it. This area also also houses a Spar shop, burger king, papa johns pizza and a bar that serves food and shows live sports.
The only down side about the site is the club gets very full early, to get a seat you have to be there at around half 5, but we didn't bother and instead went to the other bar.
All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and have already booked to go back in May.
