We stayed here for a long weekend with friends in the tent field which is non electric.

I have to say that it seems the tent field is a bit of an afterthought. There is no water point and someone had to tell them to put a couple of bins in the field which they did but they hadn't emptied them even when we left after 3 days.

The toilets are a decent walk (depending where you are pitched) through to some portacabins in the electric field and are not the best I've used - there's nowhere to hang anything up if you use the wash basins and there is very little space between them. The shower cubicles are narrow but do have controllable electric showers in them. The potwash had intermittent hot water and in plugs in the sinks which was annoying.

The main complex is a fair trek away and it does seem that campers are a second thought. I was generally disappointed overall and I would have been really gutted if we'd paid full price. The tents in the electric field seemed really bunched up and on a slope so we were glad we didn't go electric.

That said, I would go back but only if everywhere else was booked up.

Booked this on the day we were going - very last minute! Lady on the phone was very helpful.

Arrived at the site just after tea time and the reception had already closed. Spoke to a lovely lady on the phone who advised me that our envelope was in a box next to the door, and to ring security who would meet us and show us the pitch. Security was a young woman who couldn't be bothered and said - there's a map in your envelope, follow that. And promptly put the phone down!

Managed to find the over flow site that we were put in and chose to pitch at the bottom, near the pathway in to the EHU part. Very sheltered and a flat spot.

There is enough space in there for a large pitch - we have a Gelert Horizon 6 with a porch, and had enough room for all that with a windbreaker and the car not too close!

Toilets and showers were kept very clean, as was the pot washing area - only complaint with that is though - no plugs! Overflow pitch is grassy and when it rains, the entrance got a wee bit boggy, and cars were sliding a bit. Could do with a gravel path

Entertainment was good, from what we saw. Indoor play area was great for the kids

Didn't use the pool

All in all a good site - although the touring and tent site was a good walk away from the facilities of the main complex. Bar prices are a bit steep, as to be expected, but the on site Spar is open til 10 most nights and stocks pretty much what you need.

Freezer block freezer is in the tourers reception - the lady there is very helpful.

Laundrette is way way way at the far end of the complex, and is very pricey - starts at $5. 50 for a normal wash and goes up - tumble drier starts at $1. 00 for 10 mins!

Would we come again/recommend? Too right - we had a great time despite some heavy rain, price included the entertainment passes. Just would ask to be in the overflow site for tents again and not in the EHU site, as that is on a slope!

We picked this camp site as it was our first with three kids so we wanted the facilities in case of bad weather. Whilst the facilities were good especially the shower block the area set out for tents was disgusting.

We booked a certain sized pitch which was thankfully the smallest and cheapest as when we arrived it was a free for all.

No dedicated pitch as described. Everyone was literally just pitching where they wanted to and using up as much space as they wanted to also.

The field itself was covered in broken glass, cigarette ends and generally felt unkempt and uncared for. Even the bags of rubbish that campers couldn't be bothered to take to the bins were left for several days attracting foxes and more to the point wasps.

We were not welcomed upon arrival and just felt that if you were in a tent you were the scum of camping!

The noise levels particularly after midnight were awful and not policed as stated in the brochure.

All in all if you are a caravanner and want good facilities then this is a nice site. If you are in a tent then there are much cleaner and friendlier sites out there.

We stayed here for 3 nights, in the tent field, non EHU. Plenty of room on the pitch, very slight slope but not a problem. Wind was a bit of a problem and our tent took bit of a battering one night but not the sites fault.

Toilet and shower block was always very clean and the water was always the right temp. Pot wash was always spotless too. However, only ONE family room for a site this size is no way near enough, we never got to use it because there was always someone in it so we struggled in the showers with our 2 yr old.

The playground is ok for the little ones on the camping field and the playground near the clubhouse is good for the kids which are a bit older.

The entertainment was typical Haven stuff, we recommend the wrestling show, really good, our 13 yr old loved it.

Good on site shop.

Scarborough, filey, whitby not too far away and not forgetting flamingo land which is a must if you have never been.

All in all, if you like busy sites with plenty to do then this is perfect.

Booked 2 weeks for the summer holidays at Blue Dolphin was not sure what to expect with lots of mixed reviews. On arrival touring site is situated next the main Haven site with its own touring reception staff very friendly and helpful given map to our pitch and codes for the toilet block.

First impression on driving to our pitch was not the greatest the roads are in need of an upgrade passed the swing park which looked rather old and worn and thought oh no!

But could not believe our luck when we arrived at our pitch thankfully I had booked a Euro Pitch it was like driving into our own private little site there is only 7 euro pitches on the site and they have been given a complete make over compared to the rest of the site our kids called it living in the posh bit!

We had a fresh tarred road large pitch own elect hook up water drainage and ariel connection. The seven pitches have been fenced off and a garden shrub area is surrounding it.

Ideally situated just behind the toilet block which I have to say is the best Haven toilets I have ever seen they are constantly supervised and cleaned Spotless.

The family room is not beside the toilets its a room at the back of reception you pay £10 deposit for key, which you get back when your hols over, has a bath for the kids and also a separate shower which you do not need to keep pressing the button. We used this bathroom quite a lot and did not have to wait any time guess we were lucky.

The site also has its own ice cream van which comes round 2-3 times a day much to the delight of the kids it stopped right outside our pitch.

The site was very quiet at night

The complex was great good range of food available used chipshop & Burger King both tasty and fairly priced just slightly dearer than the high street.

Kids love the Haven entertainment as always they put on good shows. Swimming pool was on the small side for size of site but the kids had good fun on the three lane water slide. Only thing the sites misses out on is no direct beach access.

Great little market and car boot sale on in field at the bottom of the road on a Tue, Thur and Sunday lots of bargains.

Visited Scarborough for a good day out and Bridlington. Extra bonus the circus was in the field close to site I think its on for the whole of the summer it was a great night out the show was fantastic would recommend.

Would we go back to Blue Dolphin again yes we would but only to a euro pitch its slightly more expensive but when you see the difference especially if you are staying for a week or more its worth it.

This was our first trip camping with our 2 children aged 4 and 2. Great campsite the children loved it. I felt the children's play area could have been improved a little for how big the site is.

We arrived on the saturday and had lovely weather until around 2pm sunday when it started raining heavy, so we went to the inside play area, which unfortunately closed at 5pm so we only got half an hour but we were kept occupied in the amusements for a few hours.

When we decided to return to our tent unfortunately with the rain and wind and our inexperience the front of the tent had collapsed. One of the tent poles snapped so we had to pack up and go home so we missed 2 nights of our stay. We were very disappointed but this was no fault of the campsite and we would definitely return as we had a lovely first day and first night.

The showers and toilets were really clean and always smelt fresh and also very warm. They also had plenty of washing up sinks which were clean and undercover.

Even with our disaster of a first trip this did not put us off and would return to the blue dolphin.

We stayed at this site during the June half term week having booked in Mon to Fri. We were so impressed either the site facilities and staff that we booked an extra couple of nights!

The new toilet block was outstanding and kept clean throughout the day. The warden was first class and couldn't help enough. Pitches were well spaced out and the only criticism being that the slope was quite severe.

Overall an excellent stay and would definitely go back again. Ideal spot for families! Ideal base for the Scarborough coast and surrounding areas and a bus route.

If feeling energetic nice walk into Filey along the Cleveland Way.

I'm a single dad with 3 energetic kids, aged 5 and twins aged 3. This was my first camping trip and chose this well known Haven site having used them for their static caravan before.

Firstly I'd like to say this is a brilliant site with friendly helpful staff who created a really good atmosphere for me and the kids. The site is brilliantly placed for Filey, Scarborough or Bridlington as well as the North Yorks Moors. All of the seaside towns are easily accessible by car or on the bus from just outside the park gates.

The camping pitch was on a bit of a hill but nothing which couldn't be worked around. There was plent of room and the site was filled with really pleasent families and this is what you should expect.

On arrival I was given the map to my pitch and hook up which was right next to the one of the two toilet blocks. Oh dear its a porta cabin I thought but they were cleaned several times during the day, not smelly at all and got no noise from them on a night time. The showers were always hot and clean. The wash up area was a bit small but who is in a rush to wash up??

The club on a night time is a bit pricey but its what you expect from Haven. Just sneak a few drinks in with you and its fine :) The kids entertainment on an evening was fantastic we stayed in the club til 10 most nights. The kids all made lovely friends and enjoyed themselves thoroughly. The chippy on site was great for a bag of chips on the way back to the tent but if you want a proper take away I'd suggest just pop to Filey or there's plent there who'll deliver.

The playgound near the camping facilities was a bit tired but was in the middle of an overhaul so should be better and the one near the complex was great. There was also a nice little indoor soft play which we didn't use this time but have used before and it gives something else to do on wetter days. The pool is fantastic and you could lose track of time in there. There are loads of other things we didn't get a chance to use like bike hire, kids clubs, go karts, lazer quest etc etc

The best thing about the holiday was it only cost £62 for the week, including the club passes. I'll definitely be going again, infact I've just booked up for next weekend too for my girls birthday :D

We chose the Blue Dolphin as our sister-in-law owns a static there and we thought it would be nice to meet up there. We have stayed at Haven sites before to knew what to expect.

We got a good deal 2 adults, 2 children, dog and EHU for about £30 for three nights Fri-Mon. On arrival the booking process with simple and we were given directions to our pitch.

However, the pitch we were allocated with shorter than nearby pitches due to a curving hedgeline, this meant that our Icarus and porch would not fit on. We were able to swap to a neighbouring pitch as the site was not full.

The pitches are slightly sloping but this is what you would expect in North Yorkshire. I am not sure we would be happy on the site in the main season as the pitches are close together and I would imagine the field would get packed.

The nearest toilet block with a portacabin was was adequate, if not at times a little muddy. A bit of a longer walk away was a brand spanking new block which was fantastic. Lovely and warm, spacious shower cubicles, loads of hot water. It is the best shower block I have ever seen or used 10/10.

The site has lots of facilities for children and young families. We made use of the swimming pool, soft play area (could do with a bit of an update), park, indoor rollerskating, amusements, pub and evening entertainment.

The food and drinks on site are expensive but this is to be expected on a Haven site. Sneek in your own drinks for the kids. The evening entertainment and party disco was good fun. The club house does get very busy and I would say that in the the summer weeks it could be very hard to get a table.

The site itself appears well maintained, although I would say the static side of it does to my mind seem very crowded. The location of the site is good and within easy reach of lots to do in Filey and Scarborough.

All in all, I would recommend this site to young families who benefit from taking advantage of the good deals which Haven offer for stays out of the main season.

This was our second visit to Blue Dolphin (fist time about 5yrs ago) This time stayed 2night/weekend. Great location for Scarborough and Filey.

I was disappointed with the pitch itself this time (last time was perfect and flat!) as we were on a slope and it was also very very bumpy ground, I asked if we could have the pitch next to it as it was a bit less bumpy but still on a slope, they kindly agreed. For 2 nights we coped with it but any more and I think the uneven floor would have drove us mad, the kids and us were wobbling all over the tent and the air beds were slowly slipping to the corner of the tent! Staff were lovely and friendly, good shop, great soft play, play parks both great and a hit with kids, pool was great! We were near the portacabin loo's which were fine and clean, the new loo's and showers were lovely!.But, no hair driers (just plugs to use your own which we didn't think to take and were always being used by young girls anyway!) and for new showers the drainage was bad as the water from all the showers was puddling in the area to get dry making it very awkward to dry feet and I felt was a little unhygienic!

Paid only £35 for two night with passes so overall pleased and we would go back but would ask for a flat pitch! Kids loved it!
