It's a very busy site and there was only one toilet block each (gents & ladies) they were so filthy I had to go buy 2 bath mats for my husband and I to put on the floor so we could have a shower. And to say we had paid extra for a super pitch - so small and boggy

We have just returned from this site after using a Caravan Club three free nights voucher for a Haven site. Thank goodness we hadn't paid for it! The roads around the site were full of pot holes and pitches completely rutted and uneven. The bins were over flowing, people pitched where ever they pleased and the dumped old appliances just added to the air of neglect! This has to be the most unkempt site we have ever stayed on which is a shame really as it has the potential to be a great site as its location makes it good for exploring the East Coast.

Was our maiden camping trip, as others have said, you go to reception and then find a pitch!
We looked for one close to the play area, luckily got one! Not too far from toilets too!
We were very lucky with the weather, glorious, which makes a big difference too.
Went for a nosey over near main clubhouse, had something to eat in the pub there. Food ok, drinks were cheaper than our local, LOL! Good kids indoor play area, bit like a wacky warehouse, just near the pub. Also kids loved the go kart's!
Got Fish and chips for the kids at tea time. Absolutely awful!
But must say toilets and shower blocks very clean.Which is what I was looking for! Our friends went to the loo through the night and said they were in a right state, loo seats off, toilets blocked. When I went at 7am all spotless! Well done to the cleaners!
Would defo go back here again. At only £8 a night (offer on at mo)! But would even pay full price if needed!
I really enjoyed the campsite here, didn't go to clubhuse so couldn't tell you what entertainment was like!
Would defo recommend it. Especially if you got kids!

Went here for 3 nights fri to mon with electric. Just 2 adults. We had booked the break 3 weeks prior and had no probs booking it. On arrival we were welcomed at reception and told to pitch anywhere we want. The site was slopey in places and would benefit those who got there early. Had no problems pitching up and the ground was fairly soft. It got quite busy around 3 with everyone pitching up so we were glad we got there early. The toilet/shower block was 6/10. The showers were small but did the job fine. The sinks had no plugs so would suggest taking plunger plug with you. The pot washing area was under cover but not enough for everyone that was on site.
We paid £19 for the 3 nights which included our passes which was great value. At night the entertainment was as expected for a holiday camp which didnt bother us at all.
Theres plenty of things to do in the area you have Filey and Brid within 15 mins of the site and plenty of beaches around.
The onsite shop was very well priced for a Haven which was a surprise.
So save your 2ps for the amusments well worth the money and the price is for the tent not for the number of peeps that stay in it. Great.
Am booking my next trip for asap. Enjoy.

This was our first ever camping trip. Booked this site as we thought there would be plenty for our kids (4 & 2) to do and there was. The use of the pool and entertainment passes were included in the price of £19 for one night (for 4 people) which I thought was cheap. Electric hook-up would cost more though.
Site was easy to book through the Haven website.
On arrival we were told to pitch 'anywhere' and had to drive round to find a pitch which was not really helpful. We managed to pitch near to the main shower block but being new to the camping game didn't realise how sloping the pitch was and we all fell out of bed all night.
The pools were fairly clean and the kids loved swimming and playing in the arcade on site although the 4 seat bike hire was a mistake as they didn't seem very safe and were very hard work. We ate our evening meal in the pub on site and were disappointed as the veg was frozen and the potatos were burnt and undercooked - drinks were also very expensive. It felt like we were a captive audience and therefore the pub management were coasting.
The playgroud on the tenting site were a bit long in the tooth and had not been looked after. Also there was nothing to stop the kids running away as it was just a swing and slide, etc in the middle of the tents.
The toilets and showers were acceptable.
Site was well lit and the noise at night made us feel safe although may put other people off. Some of the language from other campers and a lack of care and maintenance for the site would probably stop us returning.
Groups may find it a good site as there were plenty of people pitching together and they were clearly having a good time.
In all the site has bucketloads of potential but is not for us unless it improves and we go out of the main season. Been to one other smaller site since and much prefer the 'family run' feel to it and the care that had been given to the upkeep of the site.

Good value for money as all entertainment on site. Stayed in top field with good clean showers with plenty of hot water. Helpful staff, and play ground nearby. Stayed Mon to Fri and bins were emptied twice so site very clean. Club and restaurants no more expensive than in Scarborogh. Plenty for kids and adults to do all in all a good holiday, if only we could count on the weather.

We arrived the last of 3 cars travelling, we were basically waved into the direction of our pitch and when we got there it was a case of just pitching where you could! No one was on the correct pitch. Our pitch wasn't flat and we slipped almost 6 inches each night!
The toilet block was dirty by dinner and there was no toilet rolls, I can understand it was end of season, but the weather was unusually good and the site was busy.
The bins were left overflowing and left the road (next to our pitch) strewn with rubbish, broken furniture that had been left and nappies!
Because the weather was good we didn't use the club, we sat outside but we did take the kids into the pool, it was very small and shallow and closed for the main part of the afternoon.
Most of the outdoor activities were fairly expensive (the go-carts we £2 per child for a couple of minutes) and with a family of 3 boys made for a very expensive walk!
The supermarket was poorly stocked and over expensive, they seemed to concentrate their stock on the souvenir side rather than essentials.
The area around the site was gorgeous and there were plenty of good play areas for the children so if they are young enough to be entertained by this then youre ok!
We got the weekend at a very discounted rate (presumably because of the time of year) but if I had paid full price I would have been complaining!

Just read the review by Steve and I reckon they were pitched next to us on the day of 'the great flood'. We had booked well in advance as there was a party of us consisting of 3 tourers and a tent.Upon arrival we were told to 'do our best to find a big enough spot for us all'!
Fat chance as the site looked like a scene from Woodstock. We eventually shoehorned our caravans into a spot at the bottom of the hill, but the tent had to go in the overflow field which seemed to be situated just outside York, such was the walk to it.
The 'site regs' we were given said that we couldn't pitch within 5m of the next van,a reg ignored by staff who placed another tourer with it's towbar a foot from our back window.
We've been before many times in a static so know that the clubs and main park are top notch, but our first time in the caravan was a huge let down with nowhere near enough toilet and shower facilities for the number of people there.
When it rained the water ran down the hill and a river formed under and in front of our awning and the poor souls in the tents opposite were washed out.
Avoid at peak season and always pitch at top of site.

Went for a 4 day break with sister and her family, we booked it 4 weeks earlier and asked for 2 pitches next to each other, was told this would be ok. When we arrived we were told to drive round and look for spaces. After 30min we found 2 pitches in what looked like a nice spot, (how wrong we were). That night we had a fair bit of rain and our pitch was not well drained with 3 kids and 2 dogs walking on it it soon turned to mud, we bought another ground sheet to put between the 2 tents to try and keep them clean.
Under my sisters tent turned to a bog and was like walking on a sponge.
As others have mentioned there is plenty to do on site although the pool is small and always very full, shop was well stocked and reasonably priced.
The nearest toilet block to us was built of a series of portacabins and were usually very clean and well maintained.
The big let down was the pot wash area for a site with 250+ pitches there was only 4 sinks and they were at the furthest toilet block from our pitch.
On the last night we had an almighty thunderstorm, which flooded under the tent and partly into sisters tent. The ground just turned to a quagmire, it was like glastonbury without the music and with the lack of drainage there was a terrible stench coming from the ground , we mentioned this to reception.
On the whole I don't think we will be going again.

When we visited this Haven site we had never been camping before and it was definitely a great starting point. The staff were on hand as soon as we arrived, checked us in no bother and directed us to the tent pitches. We were left to choose where we wanted to set up which was nice. We chose the top of the overflow field, which was more sloped and although the facilities were a longer walk away we preferred the more laid-back set up and atmosphere of this area.
After setting up we went to check out the entertainment on offer and enjoyed the arcades and swimming pool. Also had dinner in the restaurant which was nothing to brag about and we still insist to this day after visiting many Haven parks that the restaurant food on their sites is a waste of money. The other facilities, however, definitely make up for this. Everything was clean and well kept and overall, we felt very comfortable.
Scarborough is just a hop, skip and jump away and we enjoyed a day walking across the beach and playing in the arcades at the seaside. The day we packed up to leave, rather than going straight home, we decided to spend the day at Flamingo Land Theme Park which wasn't too far away either and we were one of the first cars there waiting to be let in that morning.
Can't really leave the kids to wander on their own as the facilities were too far, so that's worth noting, unless you have older children.
Overall a fab site, but after checking prices to visit again this summer (2011) very disappointed at how extreme they are! £98 for 2 nights - I just can't bring myself to do it, however nice!
