May 2004 Visited this site on a special offer weekend and paid £11 for two adults and two children for three nights inc entertainment passes. Probably best to go early season judging by other comments. Showers/toilets fairly clean, plenty of room around tent, nice play area which the children loved. Prices for food and drink astronomical so be warned and food in Smugglers pub very average. All in all we had a great time for the money.

May 04 I thought this was a nice camp site with good facilities. There was only one toilet block working at the time so if you were down the bottom half of the field it was a long walk to the toilet. The touring field wasn't very level and the flattest part was down the bottom near the broken toilet block. There was a playpark for the little ones, which was good and the entertainment on a night was good. Swimming was included in the price and they have a indoor and outdoor pool. Food onsite was expensive and the shop only sold long life bread so I suggest that you buy your shopping in Scarbourgh. I would think about going back.

May 7th and 8th Really enjoyed our stay although weather was bad and we were pitched on the cliff top which was very windy. Entertainment was very good. When we arrived we were given a "barrier card" (£5 deposit) which we thought would be for getting in and out of the site, but later learnt in was for entry to the shower/toilet block which was confusing for a lot of people.

AUGUST 2003 Spent 3 nights here, with 4 children, 2 girls aged 13 & 12, 2 boys aged 9 & 6, they really enjoyed it and have all said they want to go back.
I on the otherhand wouldn't go back, I found it quite dirty, the showers and toilets left a lot to be desired considering there was a cleaner in attendenance most of the day, they didnt appear to do a lot of cleaning. Out of the 3 nights, 2 were very noisy. It was also very expensive.
But saying all that, if you have children they would enjoy it, however it is not somewere we will be going back to.

August 2003 We've just returned from a weeks holiday at the Blue Dolphin and inspite of all of the sites flaws we managed to have an excellent holiday.
Just to let you know we stayed on the touring field in a large family tent with electric hook-up. My wife and I took our 15 month old son and 13 year old niece (who both really enjoyed the site).
I'll start off listing the good points and then move on to the bad points. Please bear in mind that we stayed there at the height of the season and the site felt as if it were bursting at its capacity. Maybe some of the bad points would be improved during the quieter times of the year.
GOOD POINTS Captain Crumble (the main entertainer in the Galaxy show room). The childrens playgrounds. Toddlers playroom (although it was only open until 5pm). Supermarket (really well stocked although a little pricey). The entertainment programme. Amusement arcades (although a few of the machines were in need of repair). Smugglers pub. Two large showrooms and night time entertainment (the bars in the showrooms were pretty quick to get served at and prices were ok if you stuck to beer, cider & softdrinks - please also see bad points). Novelty shops for the kids (these sold loads of little toys and didn't rip you off with the prices either). Excellent location for exploring the rest of the area. Good value for money considering all of the entertainment/facilities included. The launderette (although this got really, really busy and the ironing facilities weren't brilliant either). The swimming pools were just OK (we only used them once as they were just too busy).
BAD POINTS: Overall this site felt dirty and as if there was the bear minimum of maintenance, cleaning and litter picking being done. The touring field is EXTREMELY slopey, I counted around eight pitches at the top of the hill that were completely flat. I'd forget the rest unless I was in a caravan. This site allows dogs. There was alot of barking. Also there was dog mess lying around (although this is the owners fault). There are only two shower/toilet blocks which serve hundreds of pitches. They constantly STUNK as the drains kept on bursting and the cleaning was diabolical (the cleaners did the bear minimum with no attention to detail). There were only three washing up sinks in each block which created an almost constant queue (which could be up to 20 minutes). The food at the burger bar was awful (I mean REALLY awful). The two showrooms got so busy you had to get there ridiculously early to get a seat. The two showrooms were like sauna's, they got so hot and sweaty it was really uncomfortable. The toilets kept on breaking down just outside the showrooms so everyone was ushered to the toilets in the smugglers pub (the queues had to be seen to be believed). There was a leak in the ceiling from the plumming just outside the main entrance of the the starlight showroom which lasted for over three days with just a bucket and a chair there to stop people walking under it. In either of the showrooms, the pub or the burger bar we never once saw anyone wipe a table clean (take a pack of baby wipes to clean your tables). I found litter to be a serious problem on this site.
TO SUM UP Although we did manage to have a really good holiday on this site we will definatly not visit it again. There are better options available on this coast.

June 2003 We did not like this site very much although I should imagine with small children it would be quite good because there seemed to be plenty going on for them. Prices in the shop were astronomical and the entertainment not very good although this is probably much better in the high season. There is a burger outlet but again very expensive, £1.33 for a small portion of chips and £2.50 for a cheese-burger. The security on the toilets is very high now, you can only get in with a swipe card and out by pressing a button. I had the problem mentioned earlier with the showers, ended up just standing with my back pressed up against the switch to keep it running. Reasonably clean but the toilet cleaner was male and arrived to start cleaning every morning at about 7.45 and left about 9 which I found rather off-putting. We went on a special offer through the Express newspaper for £2 a night including hook-up so I can't complain about that but all things considered I don't think I would go again.

May 2003 This site is awful if you are travelling with a tent as they squash you into the tiniest of spaces. It is survival of the fittest! The toilet and shower facilites were awful (dirty, broken and ill maintained). The evening entertainment is good for the kids though the beer is a rip off at £2.40 for a pint of bitter. I will not be going back to this site.

There is plenty to do on this site Site: 2 Pools outdoor & indoor reasonable size with slides 2 large Clubs and a small club with entertainment (have to be early to get a seat) Larger £2.15 a pint? Amusement arcade Shop (also quite expensive) Toddlers playroom Fish & Chips and cafe which sells snacks burgers etc Bike Hire, Roller ring, ten pin bowling, mini golf. Two receptions one for static's and one for touring Freezer block facility in shop Quite a clean site but can get noisy at night
Touring Not all the pitches are level not too bad in a caravan but you have to pack the legs on everything in a tent Inc the blow up beds to stop the blood rushing to your head Pitches cost £16.50 per night high season which Inc. all facilities. Elec. Hook-up £3 per night
Toilet and showers (no extra charge but you do have to keep pushing the button in on the showers to keep the water flowing which is a pain in the **** I think I would rather pay 20p extra for a proper shower) are reasonably clean you have to pay a £1 deposit for a key to the block but we found the locks where broken on the toilet blocks anyway so no need for a key. Only the elec. pitches are marked. there does not seem to be any park patrol on the touring field and the pools close at 5pm as well as the toddler room (would of liked at least 8pm)
