What a wonderful site! This was our first visit and certainly won’t be the last.

Beautifully designed site with an abundant of bushes, trees and Elephant grass making it a haven for wildlife. The shower block was very clean with a nice touch having fresh flowers by the sink. Very friendly wardens.

The pitches are all pretty level, some do slope gently; water stands and hook ups at frequent intervals.

Used free view and mobile phone (02) was fine.

We walked into Bourton on one occasion along the road, which took approximately 20 minutes. Due to heavy rain we took a taxi back at a cost of £8. 00.

Bourton is a very pretty village, popular with tourists during the day but a lot quieter in the evenings.

We ate at the Duke of Wellington and The Manse Hotel, both good value meals, especially the latter which does 2 courses for £7. 95 Monday to Friday.

There is a Motor Museum in Bourton, which I would highly recommend.

We visited Cheltenham for the Food and Drink Festival and also took in two NT properties nearby (Lodge Park & Chedham Roman Villas).

If you are a horse racing fan, do try The Hollow Bottom in nearby Guiting Power, it has a fantastic collection of racing memorabilia, even if you’re not, its still worth a visit.

All in all, had a wonderful and peaceful stay at Field Barn and will be back later in the Summer.

As there are many reviews on this site on here I will base mine on an eight night stay in glorious weather in a tent.

If you answer yes to the following statements this could be the site for you.

Are you over 30 years old?
Do you want the wardens to be a nice helpful friendly couple who you can chat too?
Do you want very clean higher than Basic shower and toilet block with plenty of free hot water?

My wife says there was flowers in the ladies. (mens had 3 showers 2w/c and 3 urinals 2 sinks). A quiet site where the grass gets cut once a week while we were there, which added to the peace unlike some sites where they are always doing something with various machines each day, If I wanted to listen to that I could sit in my own garden.

Do you want large mostly private pitches?
Do you want a site near some of the most peaceful picturesque villages you are ever likely to see?
Do you like walking? (dogs allowed).

10 amp hook up although on some pitches you would need a very long lead (25 metres at least) this is due to 4 pitches running from one electric point so its best to check if you are near one or not we had 20 metres and it wasn`t long enough but the wardens lent us the use of an extension which they seem to have a number of.

All in all we loved this site we just found it so relaxing. In the utility room was 1 freezer 2 fridges for food and ice blocks. Reasonably priced washing machine tumble dryer and iron 2 washing up sinks. Outside chemical disposable point.

One last thing. Don't bother washing your car before you go it will only get covered in white dust from driving down the hard stoney track to the site

Had a two night stay here, arrived a little late so didn’t see the warden, he came round in his car on Saturday morning, but didn’t introduce himself, so at first we weren’t sure who he was, but was very friendly.

Toilets were bright and very clean and tidy. Could do with a bit more drying room as my shoes got a bit wet, in the ladies ( flip flops next time )

We had a small 4 man tent and we took our dog. The site is set out lovely we didn’t get a great view pitch 41 but we weren’t far away from one at any point.

The dog walk was nice, and the people on site was friendly – there was music noise up to 4am when we stayed but I don’t think this was on site.

The walk in Bourton on the water was nice, not sign posted so we ended up a bit lost oops ! think I got the blame for that then!

Got a taxi back after enjoying the village, ( this only cost £4 ) and chatting to locals on the side of the water, while enjoying the sunshine and a drink.

 Brilliant!

I'll try and refrain from overly repeating what others have said, suffice to say we had a wonderful time here (2 nights, last weekend in June).

The warden and his wife were camped on the first pitch by the entrance, and their caravan awning doubles up as reception. The meet & greet was courteous and welcoming, and throughout our stay, they were always there, and always available, but other than the odd walk by and quick check, they leave you in peace while you indicate all is well! The perfect hosts!

Our pitch (24) was a little exposed to the wind (and driving rain on the first evening [thankfully, after we had set up!]) but offered the most panoramic views. For tenters in particular, if you have any concerns on this score, try a request for pitches 1 to 8. They are protected by a massive hedge. We were happy to stay with the views!

Whilst you have immediate neighbours, the set out means there is nobody 'in yer face'. Each pitch is determined by natural borders, and high grasses add to the privacy. In between, nicely mown access and footways navigate you with ease. So far, I'd say that the layout of this site is the best we have come across. About as private as you can get, whilst keeping it 'natural'. The whole ambience oozes peace and tranquillity.

As it's an 'over 30's' site, I got the impression that the campers not only added to the ambience, but also contributed to all amenities being left clean & tidy. You know what I'm saying!

Our particular pitch measured approx. 13m x 9m (I paced it out) and had a water tap at the edge, shared with the neighbouring pitch. I believe all pitches are of similar size and layout. Spacious pitches on a spacious site!

Have to give a big thumbs up to the owners, who could easily add a fair few pitches to this site without it becoming crammed, but have seemingly gone for quality, rather than quantity! Bravo for that!

Toilet facilities were more than good enough. Having been spoilt elsewhere, I'll refrain from giving them full marks, but were always clean, with constant hot water. Gents had 2 urinals, 2 WCs, 2 wash basins & 3 showers. The site was approx half full, and there were no queues. (Must admit, I didn't notice a shaver point, but don't quote me on that??)

There was also a more than adequate wash up room (2 sinks/drainers) which also had a fridge/freezer, washer and iron. Again, all was spotless, and only had to wait 15 seconds for a sink to become available!

The nearby village of Bourton on the Water is a must. Touristy yes, but quaint to chocolate box proportions!

A steady 40 min stroll o'er fields (public footpaths) or 30mins by road (no pavements, but far from busy). Be aware that the walk back, up the road, gives your calves a decent work out, but it's a good way to work off the cream teas!

All in all, we'll definitely re-visit Bourton on the Water. And I see absolutely no reason why we would look to stay anywhere other than here.

Stayed for two nights in this get away from it all site. As mentioned by others if you are coming to the site up the hill from Bourton, when your satnav says you have reached your destination, carry on for another few hundred yards and the entrance is through a gate on the right - could do with better signage.

The site itself is divided into sections by elephant grass that adds to the get away from it all feeling.

Our pitch was flat, grassy, very spacious, with a water point shared with the adjoining pitch. For the first day we were the only occupants in the bottom acre of field. During the day you could hear a bit of road noise (A429?), but nothing at night.

Toilets and showers were clean and well maintained. The laundry and washing up room has a fridge/freezer free to use. It also has an honesty box for free range eggs - but these never appeared during our short stay - pity.

It is a bit of a hike back up the hill from the village, so we took the car and brought a carry out back to the site.

Definitely worth another visit. A great base for exploring the Cotswolds.

As the weather was predicted to be good, we decided to grab the camping gear and head off here for a couple of days. This is our 3rd visit to this site and I have to say, it gets better and better with every stay. On arrival we were warmly greeted by John & Carol who pointed us in the direction of our very level pitch. With warm evening sunshine and light winds, we made short work of making camp and were soon tucking into dinner.

The planting is coming on great guns and the very generous, level pitches are becoming more and more private.

The bathroom block is still a joy to use. It is warm, beautifully clean, fresh smelling and equipped with hand soap and plenty of loo roll. There is even the nice touch of fresh flowers in the ladies.

Charlie had some lovely evening ambles on the dog walk and the provision of a dog bin at the end of the walk made it easy to dispose of the waste. The washing-up room is lovely and clean and there was warm water available every time we used it. We put our ice packs in the freezer and there was plenty of room in the large, clean fridge to keep our milk, bacon, wine and orange juice. We didn’t use the washing machine, dryer or ironing board but they looked new and in good order.

On the Saturday night, we decided to make use of our barbeque (on legs) and bought some Tagmoor steaks from the fridge on site. All I will say is that James and Anna are getting everything right to produce top quality, succulent beef. They were truly scrumptious and very tender.

We walked into Bourton a couple of times, once through the wonderful Buttercup fields and once along the road. The country walk was obviously quieter but only to the tune of 7 vehicles which slowed down as they passed us on the road.

It has been commented in earlier reviews that there is ‘nothing here’. Well for us, this is exactly its appeal and is simply perfect. But for the heat in the tent, it would be possible to lie-in till late morning because the site is soooo quiet. I feel that everyone who was there (site was approximately half full) was of the same mind because they were very respectful with noise levels at all times of the day. If you are likely to be disturbed by Skylark song and the breeze rustling through the lush grasses, this place is best avoided! We only planned to stay 2 nights but like last time, we just had to stay for an extra one.

A BIG thank you to all who contributes to making this place so very special. We can’t wait to come back.

Nice site, toilets and showers clean but might be a bit crowded if the site was full.

Pleasant surroundings and Bourton is a reasonble if slightly strenuous on the return, walk. The shops and pubs are all in Bourton so it is either a walk or short car ride to get to the pub etc. They have a good information hut and local beef for sale as you go in as well. The pitches are a good size.

Pleasant staff, will definitely go again.

The site is very clean and quiet. The owners are nice and helpful. The toilet block is regularly cleaned.

Using the satnav where it says you have reached your destination, just drive a bit further (about 500m) and you'll see the driveway of the Field Barn Park.

The only con is that the light at the toilet block is on sensor/timer. So better not go there when it gets dark.

But all in all, our stay there was great!

We have just returned home from this site, we booked up only a few days before we wanted to go, we were rang by the warden to say he could get us on, we arrived on Thursday & found the site with no problem well signed @ the entrance, you cannot see this site from the road so we were very surprised, the site layout was good with large pitches & not overlooked, toilets were well kept, water by most pitches, hook ups have 4 outlets 25mt leads are needed depending where you are pitched, wardens are very friendly, walks from site into Bourton about 25mins easy walking, site very quiet (no kids)we will be going back to this one ASAP,

One down fall its a fair way to a pub but you can always take it with you?

Just back from a Bank Holiday visit to the Cotswolds and didn't know whether to write this review or not! I don't want too many people to discover this place! This site is a gem, beautifully kept and well managed. The pitches are huge, plenty of room for our caravan awning, car, tethered dog and the BBQ!

The site is well located to explore North Cotswolds. Bourton on the Water was very busy - visit early morning or late evening to get away from the crowds - do use the enterprising farmers field car park at £3 all day rather than the rip off council car park at £7 for a days parking. And the field is closer to the village.

The walk along the river Windrush to Lowere Slaughter is lovely.

Take time to explore the little villages and make the effort to find the Standing stone circle - the Kings Men at Rollright about 30 minutes car drive from the site on the A44 between Morton in Marsh & Chipping Norton.

We will be back!
