I chose this site for our short break because of the peace, tranquillity and rural location. The location is indeed pleasant, just outside the tourist village of Bourton on the Water which has plenty of tea shops, pubs and restaurants to keep you well fed.

The campsite is on a farm, and you drive down a very bumpy (but it keeps the speed down!) track past fields of waving corn to the field which has been turned into the campsite.

Each day they post a list of the people booked to arrive and the pitch number, which is a handy system meaning you know where to go. There is a track around the outside, with pitches arranged along the outside edge.

There is a large cross in the middle made from wide strips of tall bamboo, dividing the field into four quarters. The centre of each quarter has a large area of long grass and lots of young trees and plants which have been planted. When they are fully grown the pitches will be a little more private.

Within each quarter there are a number of further pitches. At the top of the field there is what seems to be a resident couple who have responsibility for welcoming new arrivals, collecting money and so on.

At the bottom of the field is a barn converted into toilets and showers with a washing up / fridge room, and a large recycling area outside.

The field itself is sloping, there is no getting away from that. Some pitches are more sloping than others - ours were quite marked, whereas some of the others we could see were much flatter. The pitches themselves are very spacious and separated from one another by strips of long grass and planting.

The toilet and shower block had 3 toilets for women, an open sink, a sink in a cubicle and 3 showers in cubicles. (I assume the equivalent for men!) Though the nature of the site meant that the block was well populated with a fabulous assortment of moths and harvestmen (and the odd beetle), the facilities themselves were very clean.

The showers were free, with a simple push button, and plenty of hooks to hang things on. There is no division between where you hang your towel and clothes on the back of the door and the shower itself, so things got a little damp. There is a security-locked disabled facility available, too.

The wash up area had two sinks and a large fridge-freezer which was free for use. There was an additional fridge and a washing machine, and another freezer which contained the most delicious pots of ice cream, burgers and steaks from the farm which can be purchased. They also sell fresh eggs when the hens lay.

The site is delightful for wildlife. There were many birds flitting around scoffing the plentiful bugs (LOTS of hoverflies!), butterflies fluttering about, crickets chirping away and a gorgeous young hare which would come out and play on the grass.

I had been unaware that the site is relatively close (one field away over a rise) to a busy A road, which is clearly audible all day long - a kind of continuous white noise.

It wasn't loud enough to be obtrusive, but I was very aware that it was there, and during the night the occasional car came along it. It's only a problem if you are sensitive to noise. Also, the site appears to be on a flight path for small planes and military aircraft (we got a few military helicopters flying very close at a very low height!)

The site was not full, though it was due to be much busier at the weekend. There was a selection of caravans, motorhomes, a trailer tent and numerous large and small tents.

A lovely site, which will become ever-more attractive and private as the planting grows.

Lovely, lovely location, we were also lucky with the weather! Lots of butterflies and birds.

Helpful staff and superb facilities. Impressed with the recycling! The shower/loo facilities are a bit small in number when site full as it was (almost) this weekend, but if you shower 'off peak' should not be a problem. Lovely walk to Bourton on the Water but be warned is nearer 2 miles than 1, and is uphill on the way back -ok if you are walkers like we are but shopping gets a bit heavy! Road noise evident where we were but I wear earplugs so no problems there.

Definitely visit again - mains hook up would have been great. If we'd remembered our cable. D'Oh!

I booked for 3 tents last weekend and it was great. We were an all female party with one well behaved dog. The weather was great and we took a stroll to a very busy Bourton-on-the-Water and the Slaughters. The site itself was just fine for us. There were 3 showers for the ladies however using all 3 at the same time limited the amount of water we had and so it only trickled out. If you use the shower with no-one else in there then it's perfect!

There was an indoor washing up room which consisted of 2 sinks and fridges and freezers (plenty of space in each). The site also has a washing machine if you feel the need.

They also sell their own homemade burgers which were delicious. It's £2. 00 for a pack of two burgers which we found reasonable and also sell their own ice-cream and provide eggs that you can purchase.

The warden and his wife were very helpful and very pleasant and took a wander round the site and spoke to pretty much everyone there.

All in all we had a lovely weekend. The weather made it perfect and it was great to have walks straight from the site.

I would most definitely recommend this site and will be paying them a visit again if they'll have us!

This is our second visit to this wonderful site, we stayed for 2 night on our way to Cornwall. The site is definitely one of our favourites. We tried the ice cream, which was gorgeous but missed out on the steaks, again!(I think we pick the wrong time of year)! We cycled to Moreton in Marsh and visited our friendly butcher who actually remembered us from last September - we were impressed! Beautiful steaks again from him. The weather was against us but this is no reflection on the site itself, pitch sizes are very large and electric hook up and shared water on every pitch. Warders were very helpful and friendly. Lovely warm toilet block! A lot of thought has gone into making this site as special as it is, hopefully we will be visiting for many years to come.

Very Very Impressed. A group of seven of us stayed here split over two adjacent pitches for 2 nights. Arrived on the Friday and greeted by the on-site warden who was very helpful during our stay.

A pitch provides ample space for a trailer tent and a large 3 man tent. You share a water tap with your next door neighbour and also the electricity feed which all pitches have.

Ground was pretty level and with good drainage. (It rained whilst we were there. )

A degree of privacy is given by some long grass and reeds which is also a haven for wildlife.

The toilet block and washing up area is new and was very clean at all times which is a testament to all that used it and those that cleaned it.

It felt a privilege to stay there. There are fridges and freezers where you can store your groceries/alcohol. Free range eggs and small tubs of quality ice cream are available on site.

There is a coin slot washing machine in the washing up area and although a tumble drier is advertised it wasn't there during our stay.

The site was only about a quarter full whilst there so access to these amenities was instant.

Recycling your rubbish is essential and there are separate bins provided. I suggest you take several bags for each of your types of rubbish which will make it easier to get rid of in the appropriate bins when required.

If the site became full -especially with tents you may have to wait for them to become free.

The site is only a mile walk across the fields to Bourton on the Water and less than 5 miles to Stow.

Good directions to the campsite appear on the web page but the entrance is a farm gate with a small (less than A4) white sign next to it.

The site is well away from the road so you can't see it. There is some background noise from a busier main road which isn't intrusive and is very quiet at night.

Just returned from a lovely if not wet weekend at Field Barn Park. Site easily found from website directions and easy access on to site itself. Site wardens were there to welcome us and direct us to our pitch which was huge and meant we had plenty of space to position motorhome as we wanted.

Facilities excellent - warm and clean. We walked down the road into the beautiful but busy village of Bourton on the Water. Sun was shining but when we came to walk back up the hill (one and half miles up hill) the heavens opened and we were a little unprepared - no waterproofs

However it did dry up a little later and we were able to fire up the barbecue and enjoy a drink watching a beautiful sunset over the surrounding fields.

Site was very peaceful but when we lay in bed we could hear some traffic noise from the nearby main road.

All in all a lovely site - peaceful and relaxing - sure we will be back in the future.

We stayed at this lovely site for 2 nights at the beginning of June. It was a first time to the site and we will probably be returning. The site is really pretty with ample size plots for both caravans and tents. Most plots if not all have water and EHU points.

The toilet and shower blocks are very clean and warm. There is also a kitchen with plenty of fridge / freezer space.

Dogs seem very welcome, with an ample walking field provided to the side of the site

A very peaceful and enjoyable place to stay.

We stayed at Field barn during the May Bank Holiday this was the first trip in our newly built camper van. We couldn't have wished for a better site the shower room with its under floor heating was such luxury. The owners were very friendly and spent time talking to you when they came round the site. Everything is clearly marked and the dog walk was appreciated, watch out for the deer he appeared out of the bushes one morning. Nice downhill walk into the village but hard work coming back. Enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back.

We stayed on an early May weekend. We were given our choice of pitches due to few fellow campers. We chose no. 35, in the middle of the field, as some on the perimeter were on a slight slope. Pitches are huge and water is always close by.

The toilet block was immaculate with plentiful, hot water. Slightly difficult to keep clothes dry when dressing due to the design of the cubicles but not a major concern. Wash-up was also spotless.

The owners are very laid back, turning up with their mobile card terminal in a wicker basket in the evening. Very friendly and helpful - we were offered a place in a barn if our tent's slight leak became problematic during the night!

I have to say that I took ear-plugs concerned about road noise but it was probably the quietest site we have every stayed on (except Roundhill in the New Forest). Although only three years old the site already has a lovely atmosphere and in a few years when the planting has matured it will be stunning.

If you want activity and action don't visit but if you like quiet sites this is for you.

The surrounding area is of course beautiful, particularly the Slaughters and Bourton. Burford is also well worth a visit.

All in all - a great find.

We came here in April when we had a spell of glorious weather, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The site is simple; there is just a toilet/washing up block and a wooden information hut, but we didn't need anything fancy to enjoy a quality weekend away.

The wardens were friendly and welcoming, and we were able to choose our own pitch. The ground was pretty good if I remember rightly, and flat enough for our tent.

The toilet block was warm and clean, with plenty of hot water. The pressure dwindled when all the showers were in use, but that is to be expected.

The washing up room was lovely. Only two sinks, but lots of room. The best thing was that they had fridges and freezers that you could use at your leisure. You didn't have to pay extra, and there was nobody policing it so you could bring and collect food and icepacks as you wished. There was also a basket of fresh eggs and in the freezer a selection of small ice-cream tubs, with an honesty box for payment. You could order fresh meat from the wardens as long as you gave them notice.

Bourton-on-the-Water is one of our favourite places to visit. It felt like quite a trek into the village from the site though. I'm sure the distance wasn't great, but you had to meander through fields down a steep-ish hill. Fine on the way down and when you know what you're looking for at the end! We chickened out and got a taxi back at the end of the day, as we weren't convinced we would find the site again at dusk!

All in all, a lovely site. Had everything we needed for a quiet, stress-free weekend.
