A warm welcome on arrival. Quite a basic campsite, but showers clean and hot, useful kitchen area with washing machine, dryer, fridge freezer. Pitches are of a good size and we had no problems with electric hook up or recycling policy.

Site is quite exposed so make sure you have an extra layer for evening/night time - we were a bit chilly!

Maybe a bit expensive for what you get in terms of amenities, but a peaceful site with lovely walks nearby.

Just spent a week at this site, specifically chose it because it was adult only and had a separate field for the dogs. Its an open site, hardly any privacy, just grass left to grow tall in places and has one toilet/shower block which I can't comment on as we did not use it.

The pitches are very generous and we didn't feel hemmed in. It is a very quiet site and I did not notice any traffic noise. There is no site wifi.

I read other reviews which mentioned taking long electric cables and thought we'd be okay but got caught out. I assumed ours was a standard length cable and was a bit annoyed but the warden was very helpful and found us an extension cable straight away. I think it is unacceptable to have to take longer cables - the distance to our nearest hook up was two pitches down. We had to trample on someone else's pitch to lay the cable behind their caravan and got soaked in the process as the undergrowth next to the hedge had not been cut down.

The dog field was full of waist-high maize and the field next to this although wasn't full of maize was too close to a busy road to risk letting my dogs run loose on it. The dogs had a great time bouncing like kangaroos but it was very wet and I had to kit myself out in head-to-toe waterproofs just to exercise them.

We walked into Bourton via the road (as opposed to the footpaths across fields), which took us approx 25 mins. Other reviewers have mentioned wearing high viz jackets but the road is a quiet back road and we saw hardly any traffic. Bourton is a very charming, picturesque little village and definitely worth the walk.

Other nearby towns worth a mention are Stow-on-the-Wold and Moreton-in-Marsh, both about a 15-min trip by car.

Oxford is an hour journey by car. We used the Redbridge park and ride (OX1 4XG), which cost us £4. 50 return for two adults and two dogs. The bus ride was ten mins into the centre.

The nearest bus stop is in Bourton, the warden on site has a timetable.

At £25 per night for 2 adults and two dogs we felt this was a little high considering its just a large field with a shower block.

Just returned from the jubilee weekend at this site and we will definitely be back. Very basic site but with excellent toilets and showers.

Only a small building but very clean and the showers are lovely and warm. There is also a washing machine and a tumble drier, handy for drying towels etc as the weather was so wet and a fridge and freezer for all to use.

The pitches are very large and each one is cut into the long grass. Some of the electric boxes are a long way from the pitch so you may need a long hook up lead and an extension lead.

The wardens John and Carole are very nice and helpful, coming round every day to make sure all is ok or just for a chat. But the best thing about this site is the peace and quiet with no kids about.

Bit of a bumpy ride along the drive over the field but well worth it. Also you can buy fresh steaks and burgers and I must say the steaks are gorgeous.

There are also fresh farm eggs to buy every day. It is a nice walk down the hill into bourton but a bit steep coming back up again. Also plenty of places to visit nearby. We will definitely be back.

Visited this site during a wet week in June. The site is quite remote and we left early due to the poor weather.

Showers toilets etc very clean and modern, but only 1 block for the whole field and quite a trek if on far side of site and needing to go in middle of night or in rain.

Access road to the camping field is not great with potholes on the narrow track.

Car is essential here as nowhere really to visit within walking distance, Bourton on the Water is a good trek away through muddy fields and all uphill on way back.

Waste recycling policy is good, but is only available for cans, bottles, paper and plastic, all other waste must be taken away with you at the end of your stay.

Disappointed with the site in view of the high charges for staying there and will not be visiting again.

Here again love this site. Very quiet very clean and we are lucky to be here for the jubilee weekend. Showers are excellent toilets are clean, doing our bit for the environment on the rubbish is no hassle. Pitches are large with hook ups not to far, but if you can bring an extra hook up lead just in case your plug could be over 25 meters away. Martin and his family have worked hard on the layout and the up keep on this site and it shows it well done to you. This is our second holiday here and it's great! AND the walk to bourton on the water is 20minutes there 30 back. There is a foot path to go across fields follow the yellow arrows! And the gate is at the bottom of the drive on the right as you walk down bring some good walking shoes as you are in fields with long grass and some farm stock. When you get to bourton on the water you will see it's worth walking! Plenty of pubs and gift shops and food! Make sure you have a few extra pints for the walk home, makes it more fun!

Visited this site over the Easter bank holiday, £25 per night with EHU, I thought this was a bit over priced. Shower/toilet block clean and showers lovely and hot and that is all on this site, there are no shops or pubs within walking distance in the evening. If you're in a motorhome and don't wish to move then the site is a bit of a trek away from Bourton, unless you want to risk the walk down the road which is just over a mile (no footpath) We did the walk into Bourton over the fields via the public footpath, but not suitable after dark. There are quite a few walks in the area so if you are into walking there are some lovely small villages to visit via the pathways. If you want peace and quiet this site is for you, there was not a sound after 10 o'clock and no lights to be seen!

Hi, This is Martin, the owner of the site. I have been worried for a while that the showers have not been up to pressure on some occasions. I have spent a lot of time trying to correct this and have completed the following. The heating engineer discovered that one of the pressure valves on the second boiler was faulty thus restricting the water flow, replaced with a new one. I have put in a second pressure vessel giving over 1500 litres of on-demand water and upgraded the supply line to 32mm pipe, all 900 metres of it.

On rubbish! The amount of waste from the site is huge and one of my 'things' is that as much as possible is re-cycled; all I ask is that visitors divide up the basics which I take away for you, and that things like broken chairs and tents, etc, you take to the council tip which are free. The alternative is Biffa bins with smells and wasps.

Wishing you all well in 2012.

Spacious site divided into 4 fields by long bamboo-grass. A bit exposed as it's on the top of a hill.

It's about 20 minutes walk down into Bourton-on-the-water, but, be warned: it's about 30 minutes back up the steep hill. If going in the evening, I advise taking a torch and hi-viz jacket as it's very dark coming back up.

Only on toilet block but not so much of a hike as it first seemed. Friendly owners and staff on site directed us to the pitch, but if they're not around then there's a list at the entrance.

The site is a bit basic for the price (£25/night with EHU on a bank holiday). My biggest gripe was the 100% recycling policy meaning you have to sort everything into different waste bags. Too much sorting and just won't take some stuff, so if you break a tent pole you have to take it home with you for disposal.

Nice and quiet at night - only quiet voices heard after 10:30pm, but some road noise was heard from the distant A429.

This is the third time at this site. I requested a particular pitch, but Henrietta recommended a different pitch 'As it gets the sun in the evening' We were not disappointed.

It was nice to see that the planting is now well established, giving each pitch a degree of privacy.

If you prefer a quiet site this is for you. Only facilities are the shower/ loo block/ washing up area & use of fridge/ freezer, but adequate for our needs.

We had a warm welcome from the owners and was loaned a extension cable as our electric hook cable didn't quite reach the box.

The only blip - when all the showers were being used, the water pressure eased off.

Nice walk into Bourton on the Water, always busy, but plenty to see & do.

Found a nice cafe for a cream tea off the main high street, with reasonable prices.

Ideal place to unwind for the weekend. Definitely recommend it.

Just returned from a lovely weekend at Field Barn with our dog. Arrived on the Friday afternoon and found the warden and his wife to be really friendly.

All pitches were allocated and pinned on a notice board by the entrance but the warden still greeted us personally and advised us we could park any direction we wanted to on the pitch which is refreshing.

Our pitch was served well for water and electricity and shared with a neighbouring pitch. The pitch was gently sloping but not a problem once levelled with the blocks.

The toilet block was certainly clean and adequate but I would not say exceptional or luxurious. As per previous reviews make sure you take a plastic bag with you as there is no separating curtain from the changing area. We were aware of this from other reviews so protected our clothes by covering them with a towel or putting them in a bag while the shower was on.

The shower itself didn’t have the best of pressure but turned to a trickle when somebody started showering in the cubicle next door. The pressure problem was really strange as the taps on the pitches had loads of pressure.

On the weekend that we stayed there was mostly tents on the site but despite this we didn’t have to queue for the showers. The kitchen was great with 2 sinks and loads of fridge and freezer space with ice cream and eggs on sale with an honesty box which I thought was a nice touch. Also fresh local burgers were available but unfortunately we didn’t get to sample these although I believe they are very good.

The recycling on the site is quite strict and we did end up having to take some items away with us as they didn’t seem to fit into any category. The food waste bin was also missing when we were there so used the compost bin for what we could and took the rest home. Also the tins and bottles bin could do with a lid on it as there always seemed to be a lot of wasps hanging around. Having said that I think they are setting a brilliant example and think more sites should adopt a recycling policy.

We could not get a digital signal for our TV as the area has not been switched over yet but there were units with traditional external aerials that seemed to be able to pick up channels if pointed in the right direction. On checking with Freeview, I learned that the area is due to be switched over to digital during September 2011 so this will hopefully improve after that.

The site is in an absolutely stunning location with views to die for. We took the public footpath walk into Bourton which takes you through delightful farmland and fields with cows, sheep and pigs in. There is also a dog field adjacent to the site where you can let them off the lead for a run which is very handy. Bourton itself is very busy and touristy with coach loads of people constantly arriving and leaving but a host of shops, pubs and restaurants.

To summarise we really enjoyed our stay here and the fact it is an adults only site is a total bonus. It’s a lovely relaxing place to stay with a wonderful atmosphere in a fantastic location. What more do you need? Would we go back …. Oh yes!
