This is a large airy site accessed via quite a long rustic track. We found the pitch easily and were soon set up. Walking in the vicinity as far as I remember was OK. It would be a longish downhill walk into Bourton itself though. Facilities were adequate and clean. We were in a motorhome and so parking in Bourton was fun. We found a gateway on the edge of the village. If you want a good Sunday lunch there is a Social Club on the outskirts of town where there is a homecooked buffet style lunch which was lovely and brilliant value for money. Plus we could take the dogs in. A pleasant site but not sure if we would revisit purely due to the location.

So quiet!
The site is gorgeous, washrooms are of a very high quality and immaculately clean. The food provided for purchase in the fridge on site is fantastic!
All (grass) pitches are clearly defined with water alongside in most cases.
Hardly any traffic noise at all whilst on site, apart from the occasional tractor.
An excellent rural getaway.

We visited this site (our first camping experience) from reviews on UKCampsite.co.uk. The reviews are very accurate. This site has extremely large pitches and with our 20m EHU, we couldn't quite reach the mains. The very friendly and helpful owners kindly lent us an extension to ensure that we could have our heater on.
The site is great now but will improve when the plantings have matured. It went pitch black at night and I think maybe one or two low level lights may assist finding the toilet block in the dark!
The locally stocked produce with the honesty box was a lovely touch and the food looked fab.
Will be returning to this little gem.

I chose this site mainly because it was close to Bourton on the Water where I wished to visit but also because of the positive reviews in UKCS as well as the description given in it's own website.
I am not too sure what expectations I had but I was a little disappointed on first arrival. The driveway leading to the site is a rough, pot-holed track - not too bad in a car but care needs to be taken if towing a caravan. It also needs to be said that the Gloucestershire Highways department seems to be a little behind with it's road repairs and the unnamed roads leading to this site are also a minefield of pot-holes. The A429 itself is in a bad state of repair also. The old nursery rhyme about Dr. Foster going to Gloucester and ending up to his middle in a puddle comes to mind, so please be warned.
At the present time, having only been opened since 2008, the site is just an undulating open field with mown areas and rough areas and will take many years for the numerous saplings to mature. During my stay it was rather blustery and open although in time I am sure this will be a beautiful site with large sheltered pitches.
Please heed the comments of other reviews and use strong tent / awning pegs. The ground consists of a thin layer of topsoil above a rocky ballast. The pegs seem to penetrate pretty well but all the tips of my 25 plastic pegs have been bent and will need replacing (I hate plastic pegs anyway). Rock pegs may be best here.
The pitches are large and generally flat, but some are slightly sloping. All have access to EHU and there is a water tap next to each pitch.
The facilities are very clean and modern as one would expect from a site only two years old but I feel may be inadequate if the site is busy. In the gents there are 3 showers but only 2 toilets, two urinals and 2 sinks. The sinks are close to the entrance door so that everyone entering has to brush past those using the them, in fact the unfortunate user of one of the sinks is in danger of being clouted by the door when it is opened! Not very well thought out. Perhaps the site is more suited to caravans with their own facilities. I feel there may be problems if there were many tents on site at the same time.
An added annoyance was that the heating seemed to be set fairly low and it was a little chilly at times, but worse still, the hot water took ages to come through which meant leaning on the push top taps and was never really very hot. However there were very few units on site (only two tents). Perhaps the water would be quicker getting through if it was being used regularly.
Another slight problem for me at least is that the site has different bins for different recyclables - glass, cans, waste BBQ materials etc; but none for general waste which basically means taking it home with you or finding a public amenity somewhere. It is very commendable that a site goes to this trouble but rather troublesome that campers should have to separate their waste into several different bags and somehow find room for all these within their tents or caravans until such time they can take them to the bins. I rather felt the site hoped to persuade people to take their waste home with them rather than leaving it for them to dispose of. In fact one notice seemed to suggest this.
One final point regarding this peaceful site is don't expect it to be free from all road noise. This area seems to have more than it's fair share of boy racers with wide bore exhausts and motorcycles with no exhausts and these can be heard quite loudly at times from nearby roads - not a constant problem though.
Despite the above little niggles of a fairly minor nature, on the whole this site is as described - in the middle of farmland in a generally quiet location with birds twittering away. Large well maintained pitches which are not on top of each other and in time when the landscaping matures will be a very beautiful site.
Bourton on the Water is a pleasant 20-30 minute walk away but be warned it is downhill there and uphill back and the road is quite steep for most of it's length. Not a suitable walk for anyone with heart or mobility problems. Bourton is very pleasant with plenty to do - a birdworld, motor and toy museum, model railway exhibition, model village etc; and the usual pubs all of which were welcoming, and the natives were friendly.
I had a good weekend which started off well when the site owner gave me a little concession for camping solo. I had a good time in Bourton and a good rest on the campsite. I would return if I had a chauffeur - the walk back from Bourton twice in one day nearly killed me!

We stayed at this website for 2 nights and it was excellent. It is a fairly new site and all of the previous reviews are accurate.
There is EHU but be warned the pitches are very large so you may need a long cable. The mains water taps are shared between 2 pitches so you almost have your own supply.
The ground is very hard so if you are in a tent or have an awning you will need strong pegs.
The toilet/shower facilities are good - there was an ample supply of hot water - we did not have to queue for showers but the site was fairly quiet. If it was full this may be a slightly different story as there are only 3 showers in both the male and female toilets. There is also a free hairdryer in the ladies not very powerful but welcome all the same.
The washing up room was brilliant - heated, 2 sinks, fridge and freezers available for use. There is a supply of ice-cream in the freezer which cost £1.50 and an honesty box to put your money in to. There is also a washing machine available for use for a small fee (£1).
As you arrive there is a board with your name and pitch number on. The farmer or his wife arrive later on in the evening to welcome you and collect your money (although they are very relaxed about it all). There was also fresh produce such as free range eggs (20p per egg) sausages, burgers, pork pie and other produce available to buy from them.
Bourton-on-the-Water is a 1 1/2 miles away so within walking distant (if you don't mind the walk back up a hill). There are lots of lovely walks around the area so it is perfectly placed if you want to leave the car at the site.
I can't recommend this site enough and would happily return there.

What a great little site set in glorious countryside far from any main roads, we stayed on pitch 20 and had super sunset views each evening. The toilets and showers were always clean when we visited them although there were only about 25 units over the weekend.
Your pitch is allocated to you by the owner and on arrival you look on the board by entrance which tells you where to park, excellent system.
The recycling took a bit of getting used to but was well explained in the paperwork from site owner.
The layout of the site is excellent with no pitch overlooked and plenty of room for car caravan awning and room to relax and enjoy the atmosphere.
Dog walking facilities are good with access to surrounding farm fields through gate at corner of field.
We will return next year as it's so peaceful we wont be able to resist.

The site was exactly as other reviewers have described. We like a get away from it all type of holiday and it delivered. There was lots of local info in the shed and the fridge and freezer were so handy for campers. It might be necessary to install another couple of sinks as site wasn't full and there were queues for washing up at peak times, it probably depends on the tent/caravan mix.
Our stay was during the week and a weekend. The week time was off peak and the site was so quiet and lovely apart from the aforementioned road noise. It got a little noisier at weekend but ths was a companionable level of noise and not at all intrusive. A real gem of a site and will be visiting again next spring.

Certainly a very quiet site, almost too far away from the road along a very uneven track which could do with some improvement. We stayed for a week and up until the weekend it was quiet and peaceful but then became very busy and much noisier and the shortage of showers became apparent although on the whole the facilities were good and clean. The site would definitely benefit from some form of lighting at night. On the whole a beautifully kept site and friendly hosts. Easy to find your pitch from the list pinned up at the entrance which saved any queueing to book in. Bourton on the Water is a delightful village about a mile away and although it can get very crowded this does not detract from its charm and there are numerous eating places in the village.

What a lovely find. A camp site for just grown ups to sit and admire the beautiful sky and rolling landscape. The tranquillity and calmness is difficult to beat - many camp sites seem to be a bit frantic nowadays. We would endorse all the good things already commented on by guests and also agree that the shower floors need a little sorting out. Super easy to get onto with our large motor home. Well done to Martin and Henrietta for the environment they have created. We would recommend this site with a smile but feel the need to keep it a little bit of a secret.

We have just returned from 3 nights at this site and it is superb. Tucked away in a field, not overlooked by any roads come here if you want peace and quiet. The only noise we heard whilst here was a motorised glider high above us. The majority of the pitches have some slope to them but there are plenty of blocks, bricks and paving slabs on site to level 'vans etc.
As you arrive at the field you are met by a pitch listing for the day along with a map of the site, couldn't be simpler. Martin and Henrietta then visit early in the evening to collect fees, a wonderful way of doing business.
The toilet and shower facilities are modern, bright and clean although with about 30 units on the site there were queues for the showers on two mornings; maybe a second block in the opposite corner would ease the situation? At the end of the block is a washing up/washing/ironing/fridge/freezer room. The Fair Trade ice creams that are available on an honesty basis are superb.
Bourton on the Water is 20 mins walk away and is a superb example of a Cotswold stone town. Shopping is limited here to a reasonable Spar shop, most other shops cater for the masses of visitors that come here. Stow on the Wold (4.5 miles North of the site), again a fine Cotswold town has a greater selection of shops but again don't expect high street names. There is one Tesco store to the North of the town where there is also free long stay parking.
Would we go back? Most certainly
